You might be right... Could Murray go before the 3rd round? He certainly had a better career against the Vols than Eric did.
QB Eric Zeier out of Georgia was drafted in 1995 by the Browns in round 3 (#84 overall)

Attention ivyvol: TLDR. I'm sure Lane didn't either. Gosh what is going on in here? UT’s schedule looks particularly brutal. The Vols could be playing five top-10 teams in 42 days. I guess we’ll see how Jancek earns the big bucks but please can't everyone stop the AA platitudes and focus on getting prepared for a tough season. Lane sorry you are unprepared for college football, college discipline, and life in the big league. Seeya. NEXT!

UT O line was fairly substantial. QB threw for a lot of yards. RB was blue collar. Run D was pretty much on par with Georgia's run D...... but Lordy the pass D was asleep at the wheel. just sayin'

I know you are a sharp character. I'm encouraged that you can now spot the simpletons among you. After being Majored, Fulmerized, Kiffined and Dooleying around, you're really going to have the Jones now.Whatever happened to the "Ceramic Dog" anyway?

No... sorry I get so many responses here I can only remember the more definitive ones. But I'm sure you have much to say. I certainly am not one to accept mediocrity out of fear of not doing better, but at some point you have to show some patience and tell the fanbase to suck it up, right? They got what they wanted when they got rid of Fulmer. They got a splashy name as a coach in Lane Kiffin. Giving the fans what they wanted screwed the pooch. And, they continue to let the fans run the program?
As a Georgia fan, I am taking notes, and enjoying the demise of an SEC East rival. Please continue to respond, I'm sure your efforts will be rewarded.
How am I doing Aunt Velma? He started it. Probably a low rent fan from Memphis .... huh?

The really sad? part is that in talking to a really die hard Cinci fan he said that they were glad Jones was gone. So UT has once again been Kiffined but not in a good way.

The Donnan Days were long trips over the mountain to hostile territory that are some of the worse FB memories I have. Even the waitresses on Sunday morn would harass the Dawg faithful with barks and yell "how bout these Dawgs" and "you'll win one day Georgia Peach". I guess "one day" finally came. But it's not fun to beat up on UT. Too bad fans beat each other up like they do.just sayin'
It may have been necessary to fire Dooley for the psyche of the fan base. But, seriously, does anyone outside (or inside for that matter) of the Knoxville faithful think Butch Jones, John Jancek, and Willie Martinez are going to bring a renaissance to Knoxvegas? Wasn’t Dooley supposed to be the interim guy that stabilizes the program until you can find an A+ caliber coach? And, now, you are turning the whole program over again? How far has UT fallen?…..Since 2008…
Vandy 26 – 37…. 3 bowl games

Tennessee 28 – 34… 2 bowl games

JUST LIKE FOOTBALL.......lighten up NO-Ware. But seriously: Give Fox credit where it is due, this was a spectacular second half game plan. Give the players credit where it is due, it was well executed. Tennessee is a very physical team and the officials were letting both teams play that kind of game. On the defensive side, Georgia kept the big men from establishing position and kept them off balance. On the offensive side, the offense prospered from strong mid-range jumper shooting and just enough post play to keep the Vol's defense off balance. Two mid-tier teams playing to get into the NIT.
No-ware. "My what an ugly thing to say.... are we cross?" Let me help.

in response to Ironcity: There is no such thing as consistency in basketball. Thats why you see so many major upsets every year. Its hard to explain how a team with zero conference wins can beat a top ten team ( happened to both Kansas and Michigan). Its the nature of the game where when things go bad thy seem to compound. As for UT and UGA, it really wasn't a big upset. This team already lost to UGA in Knoxville so to expect them to come into Athens in dominate was a little foolish on our part. To expect Golden to always score and not turn the ball over is also a foolish on our part. The struggles early have put this team in bad shape but there is still hope. Lets hope Golden and the guys hit toe positive switch going forward and that they can feel at home when they play in Nashville on a neutral court.

On the other hand, this guy wasn't God, so to speak, and what matters is getting somebody in here who will do the job and be someone on whom you can depend. in response to OrangePride: No, the NCAA will do nothing about this. Frankly, although it might be an ethical violation it isn't yet a statutory one. And you would think recruits would find this a good reason to good elsewhere, BUT, every kid Alabama goes after is a top line prospect who has ALWAYS been at the top and expects to stay there....even at Alabama. Their confidence in themselves and the chance to be part of these all-star classes is just what they feed on. Our task is to make Tennessee that kind of destination again...it was once. Of course, the NCAA could put a cap on total scholarships "at any time" being say 90 or so. But unless everyone complains, I doubt they will do anything.

There is a cap and it is 85. Right now Little Nicky is not in violation of anything. When the season starts he will be in compliance at 85. Of the current 95 man roster 4 are already gone. Three that mugged the student on campus and another for some check cashing problem. That leaves 6 not unlike Vandy. Bama has 4 fifth years that haven't lettered yet. They will be convinced to leave. That leaves two. Those two will probably have a medical problem. just sayin'

The SEC West has no swag..... the credit card belonged to someone that is still alive, the getaway car was not a Prius, the pistol still had it serial numbers. Amateurs!
Good job with a very limited time frame. "Auburn, which failed to win a game in conference play in 2012 — going 0-8 in the SEC for the first time in school history — yet is tied with divisional rival Ole Miss with the nation's 11th-best class."
in response to FanNotSheep: Top 247 says it is, but just like everything else associated with the recruiting class of 2013, we will know for sure in 2018 when they've completed their eligibility. If you had told me last year at this time that Ole Miss would be the talk of the college football world I would have thought you'd had too much to drink. If the Rebels and Commodores can do it surely UT can figure this stuff out, right?

Wow SOD sure spent a lot of UT money!" Is recruiting a function of dollars spent? This chart from ESPN seems to suggest that it is not.To some degree dollars spent are going to be a function of the amount of available talent in-state. School 2011 2010Alabama 980,882 870,438Arkansas 666,419 693,486Auburn 950,378 678,936Florida 602,929 466,145Georgia 623,224 634,386Kentucky 336,035 279,006LSU 302,882 450,649Mississippi 495,233 340,670Mississippi St. 306,469 244,024Missouri 363,545 349,734South Carolina 248,333 271,724Tennessee 1,479,099 1,135,211Texas A&M 240,619 240,422Vanderbilt N/A N/A"
Recruiting is crucial to the Vols to restocked that cupboard. It's amazing to me that Friend at Ole Miss is able to land the #1,2,3 recruits in the nation. He's only been there one year. He may end up in the top five classes in the nation. That's impressive.

My point is they get a lot in return for signing a scholly. "Coaches lament the growing pressure to win. Players complain about providing the muscle behind a multi-billion-dollar business while receiving nothing more than a scholarship in return."
Most SEC schools average $145,000 per football player per year in expenditures relative to training, trainers room, tutors, meals etc.

Happily, the pro game just got a little safer. Shower hygiene has just improved in Big D under the tutelage of SOD. lol. Learning to be a HC in the SEC is tough. Beginning that process at UT is even tougher. just sayin'

Yeah I guess I've toned the snark way back. I had the Tennessee part of our family down for Christmas. They brought my 72 year old Aunt Velma with them. She got an IPAD for Christmas. For some reason my Cousin Jimmy shared with her that her nephew (me) was CCLC. She was unimpressed with my posts and asked me if "I minded acting more like a guest" when posting here. As she helped raise me I generally respond to her requests. Also she reads here. I will be visiting her in Tennessee in April and will be helping her with her garden. I want her smiling when I get there. lol

Yeah a couple of Saturdays like that and snakebit tends to be more than I can handle. At any rate that switch to the 3-4 in such dismal times was poor thinking imho. — Making the switch to a 3-4 defensive front in a make-or-break year for his job security was Derek Dooley’s way of saying “Hey y’all, watch this” and throwing a bottle of Everclear on the campfire.

There were several games last year where UT got behind early but managed to climb back into it. It just seems like when the O started to drive and maybe .... snatch victory from the jaws of defeat .... it would just come apart. Example: uSC. You had to believe at the end with UT driving they were going to win that game. In fact I said to my Aunt while watching it. " I'll be darned... UT is gonna win this thing. How bout that!" AND THEN DISASTER strikes. Tackles wiffs on a block, Brey is hit.. fumble ... GameCock ball. I couldn't believe. Neither could my Aunt. She said: "What just happened? What just happened?" Snake bit I said.
