I have got to watch Tennessee basketball some. From what I have seen, Maze looks like he will indeed be a good point guard. I think he understands his role so far. I will be interested to see how he does against some of the competition coming down the road....but so far, so good.
I have been pretty impressed with Prince too. I think for Tennessee to have a good year, they will just have to polish up on a few things from last year....one of those being the PG play (which seems better already). You have good balance on the team and several players can shoot it from outside. If Williams continues to progress, you could make a good run in March,

Plasticman, What I would not give for a John Wall or a Derrick Rose kind of player right now :-) Have you ever seen a player so bad as Porter last night? He looked like a rec league wannabe.
Liggins better start learning the system fast.

I'm with you on this, although I am not surprized by these Hollywood liberal types.
As far as I'm concerned, I would rather she not show her face in Rupp Arena ever again.

Wanted: A point guard that can actually dribble and pass. I don't even care if he can shoot the ball or not, just have the nuggets to at least try throwing the ball into the post.
If Kentucky has an achilles heel this year, I think it is going to be the point guard more than anything else. Michael Porter is pathetic. A team's offense starts at the point, and Kentucky clearly never even started an offensive set last night. Dribble, dribble, dribble....pass the ball to other team. Patterson hardly even touched the ball in the first half.
I realize it is still very early in the year, but I feel it may be a long season unless Kentucky can come up with an answer to who is going to run the offense. Porter is not the answer and I have a feeling he is going to be seeing a lot of bench from now on. We will take our lumps with Liggins until he can learn the offense, etc.
Credit to North Carolina though. I think they are going be an extraordinary team this year, especially when they get Hansbrough and Ginyard back.

I bought some tickets to this game back in September....when Tennessee had hope. It will my son's first college football game and I wanted him to see it here, preferably in the afternoon. Funny, I paid face value for two tickets and now I could get them for $5.
I guess we will get to freeze, but seeing a game at your great stadium will be worth it. Don't mind if I pull for Kentucky :-)

Crompton?? The guy is so bad that when he drops back to pass, it looks like he is playing dodgeball with the defense.

eduardo, Aside from your smack, your evaluation of the guard play is spot on. Michael Porter, who was suppose to be much improved from last year, showed me nothing. He made 5 turnovers in the first 11 minutes. His substitute, freshman Deandre Liggins, committed 7 turnovers. That kind of play from the point will lose you a lot of games. Credit to VMI though, they shot the lights out from 3-pt land.
Most of the other issues (assignments, rotation, etc.) are correctable. Having someone that can step up and play the point is a different matter. Unless Liggins progresses to the level of being able to run this team at PG, I think it could be a long year too. Perhaps Galloway can make a difference, but he did not see the court last night.
I have said that I don't think this team will find it's identity till late December or possibly January. Hopefully for Wildcat fans, that will not be too late.

Now that is funny :-)
By the way, I would like to see Stoops at Tennessee. I prefer him to Davis anyday.

Hey Collier. You are wrong. Kentucky's defense was not horrendous...it was non-existent. There were too many uncontested layups, poor rebounding against a smaller team, missed defensive assignements, etc, etc, etc.
I heard after the game that Kentucky will be holding practice tonight at the Craft Center.
The best thing I can say about tonight is that it is the first game of the year. I expect most of the problems will be corrected---I just don't know about the point guard position.

Porter was actually offered by USC to play football.....I'm starting to think he should have went that route.
On More turnovers by Kentucky (0-2)
