On Adams: Hangover from UCLA loss will linger

It's the arguments that are just so frustrating. If you continue to support the coach as the only guy for UT then you use the wins that bolster HIS winning % as proof of how good he is. The losses are inevitably blamed on his coordinators or players not making plays.

The issue (at least for me) is NOT about monday. It's about a decade without dominance...at least once. I think as fans we deserve at least that. That's what he's paid to do. Win the right games or don't lose the wrong ones. Which ever you prefer. The issue is bigger than one game.

Not thinking Fulmer is the leader we need is not a reflection of how we feel about the program. Some can make that distinction. Others...obviously can not. The 1960's mantra of "love it or leave it" does not apply.

I'm fairly confident that this team has the potential to win some games and make some noise in the SEC this year. But this game was about pride and respect. As the nation piled praise after praise on the SEC and it's dominance, UT goes out and lays a big fat egg against an undermanned UCLA squad. But hey, it's what we do. And that's the problem.

We've become experts at getting close. You can get mad at individual players. You can complain about the play calling. But there is only one constant on this timeline of coming up short. I respect Fulmer and think he's not only a good guy but a good coach. But he's done what he's going to do here. I think the issues go beyond the x's and o's, game management and discipline. jmo

Reggie Cobb 79? yds in the rain vs. Auburn in 1989. Turns around in the endzone and crosses his arms. It's hard to believe that was almost 20 years ago.

On Calkins: Missing subpoena latest incident to plague Fulmer

Posted on July 22 at 7:57 p.m.

On the now-famous "Change at the top" article that was written by Adams. The issue wasn't about players getting in trouble. It was about Fulmers discipline in those matters. And it wasn't about something "new" happening with off the field incidences as compared to the 90's. It was the fact that he was no longer "winning big" (sec & national championships, bcs bowls) that makes it harder to ignore or forgive.

It was a leadership issue for him. It's a leadership issue with a lot of us but in different ways with focus on different things. But most important...IT'S AN OPINION. Move on.

A lot of you guys who I don't agree with most of time are at least interesting to read when you're not moaning about Adams.

IMO, it's still unfair to remove points from Fulmer because "there was no rebuilding necessary" when he succeeded majors. I honestly believe the program was where it was at the time he took over because of HIS ability to recruit and manage the team in whatever capacity he had control over. I think the people who make hiring/firing decisions knew that too.

And for those of you who don't know where I stand on Fulmer...I don't support him as being the future of UT. But give the man credit for doing the things that he does/did well. His stamp as head coach was on this team well before he actually took over.

And that's all I have to say about that.
