james franklin, a real coach? funny.

well, the REAL coach franklin is 1-1 against dooley and 0-1 against butch jones. the same coaches you trash.

and.....the peeeeebody team you laud so much is a joke. did they have one quality win last year?

presbyterian 2-9
missouri 5-7 (2-6)
auburn 3-9 (0-8)
u mass 1-11 (1-7) MAC
kentucky 2-10 (0-8)
ole miss 7-6 (3-5)
tennessee 5-7 (1-7)
wake forest 5-7 (3-5)
nc state 7-6 (4-4)

the peebody punks beat 2 teams that didn't have winning records until after their bowl games and beat NO team with a winning conference record.

yea, franklin is an awesome coach. at this rate of success, he may be coaching steelers in 2 years.

Written on Reports: UT has sights set on Charlie Strong; decision could come as early as Wednesday :

it would be the 3rd worst hire in our modern history behind battle and dooley.

now it looks like we'll get into a bidding war with louisville over a 24-14 coach. if you'd told me after the '98 season that in 14 years we'd be fighting tooth and nail to get a 24-14 coach from louisville and not notre dame, i'd passed out with a stroke. this is the state of our program.

we don't have the nuts to call the 8 best coaches in LEGITIMATE conferences into a private room at the waldorf hotel, lay a $6.5M check on the table and ask them which one wants to be the next 6 million dollar man.

wake me up in 5 years when this nightmare is over.

Written on No. 18 Gators, No. 23 Vols boast different styles:

in response to VolzsFan:

What does Johnny Majors have to do with this? For most of Majors mediocre UT coaching career, Spurrier was at Duke beating Majors. When Spurrier went to UF in 1990, Majors was in the process of being fired and Spurrier was on the way to making UF the most dominant program over the next 20 years in all of college football. In the 10 or 11 years Steve was there, he won 5 SEC Titles and had the highest winning % in America. He made UF the most dominant college football program in America. However, during the 1990-2008 era, Tenn had the best winning % against Florida of any team that played them every year except Florida State.

I hate it when these young writers do not take the time to learn the history of what they are writing about. I believe you meant to say Spurrier and Fulmer would not approve. After all, those two are Hall or Fame coaches.

I won't argue with you about Spurrier being more successful than Majors, but get YOUR facts correct. Spurrier was not at Duke beating Majors. Spurrier's record against Majors is 2-2. He beat Majors in 1988 and lost in 1989 (I remember and trust me, Claxton Hinds definitely remembers). Majors beat Spurrier 45-3 in 1990 and Spurrier beat Majors in 1991. Quit making it sound like Spurrier dominated Majors. He didn't.

BTW - word in Pittsburg is that Chris Rainey is set to have a "killer" year.

Written on Tennessee tired of talk, wants action in year 3:

the O and D should be much improved if we can stay healthy. i would like to see the special teams step up and show some consistency on every front. kickoff and kickoff coverage improved last year; however, punt and punt return was a roll of the dice. i don't ever want to see another arkansas punt coverage again.

i'm feeling a little GerryOP today.....13-0!

Written on Franklin: UT not a rival until Vanderbilt wins more in series:

in response to ProfessionalHandicapper:

The Vandy that palyed in both SEC Tournament Championship Games last year, the only SEC school to play in both (baseball and basketball). The Vandy who went to the NCAA Basketball and baseball Touneys and a Bowl while little UT sat home for all three. The Vandy who beat kentucky and won the SEC Championship in basketball. The Vandy who has for two straight years crushed UT in total wins in football, baseball and basketball combined and more wins last year in all three sports. The Vandy that had a Final Four team two years ago in baseball while ut's last final four team was in 1998. Really, UT trying to laught at anyone is a joke. Some UT fans still don't realize how low the programs have dropped. I loved watching UT miss the SEC baseball tourney, the NIT in basketball and sat home during bowl season after Randy sanders whipped Dooley with a WR at QB..Now thats funny!!

...the peeebody that got the schit kicked out of them by the TENNESSEE VOLS football team. yea, that peeebody.

watch your mouth wanna-be gaturd alum. the turds have become quite an embarrassment themselves. they seem to be the only team loaded with 4 and 5* athletes with a 6-6 record last year that hasn’t beaten a league (SEC) team with a winning record since 2009. all this and how many top 5 recruiting classes??? until your incompetent coaches can turn it around, kenlucky and tennessee are your only quality win in the SEC. go ahead and kick us out of the conference and there goes you 6th win and the opportunity to play in the weedeater bowl in jacksonville.

back to the subject. i've wanted this game to be a night time ESPN game for a long time anyway. this is good news for me. the game won't get in the way of my yard work......and the turds will get to sit in a hotel room all day long.

in response to UkJarhead:

If he is found to be ineligible we just cut him and move on. There is no violation until he plays which is 6 months away. It will be worked out one way or the other by then. High profile recruits are often investigated. And if he is dirty, he won't play. Its that simple. No harm done. If you think all these top flight recruits are clean your crazy. This is how it works. UT just isn't familiar because nobody this good wants to play in Knoxville.

Written on Derek Dooley says GPA is under control :

Smart people dont talk about themselves in the third person. Vandy is ranked number 48 best acedemic school on the Forbes top 600 list and they went to a Bowl. UT has fallen to the lowest of any SEC at number 512 on the list and UT sat home with a LOSING record. The days of making fun of Vandy are over. Only two SEC teams went to the World series, NCAA Tourney and a Bowl ( Florida and Vandy) while only two SEC teams sat home for all three events (UT and Ole Miss).. Look in the mirror, put on Orange and laugh at yourself, the rest of the SEC is.

you forgot to mention that peebody's college of cross-dressing is ranked no. 1.
