7 Wins? Lets count them:
Austin Peay
Western Kentucky
South Alabama
Missouri
Auburn
Kentucky
Vandy

All 7 games could/should be won.
Signature win? Georgia, Florida, South Carolina?

Bones never lie.

Many people don't read the KNS stories, the comments are more interesting, and stokes the fire!
I am amazed that trolls are so interested in the Vols. They afraid sleeping giant wake up!

Written on Phillip Fulmer says administrative leadership at root of Tennessee's football fall:

in response to JonGrudensAgent:

Most of these "administrative" problems with higher admittance standards can be traced back to Cheek, who became chancellor in 2009.

Fulmer was fired in 2008.

Nice job of revisionist history by Phil once again but he has no one to blame but himself.

Lousy personnel decisions in Sanders and Clawson along with a complete disregard in recruiting his last 5 years or so led to his demise.

He thought he was bulletproof and found out he wasn't. He has also found out he wasn't the in demand coach he claimed to be over the years. Instead of being humbled by it, he turns on the spin machine once again.

It really is that simple.

The only thing really simple is you! Your name says it all!

Written on Poll: How many wins will the Vols have this season?:

in response to JonGrudensAgent:

Best to get our heads wrapped around another bowless season with five wins.

Far too many holes to fill on this team to be competitive in the SEC this year.

Let's just cancel the season? I know the Vols aren't the most talented team in the SEC but don't sell them and coach Jones short. All you negative trolls will be surprised. Tennessee is on the rise!

Written on Phillip Fulmer says administrative leadership at root of Tennessee's football fall:

in response to Navaloranges:

Hey Witchy, don't you know he "has to say that". Yeah, right. It's amazing how these people that defend Fulmer's every move, find fault in EVERY other UT administrator or coach. How is it possible for Hart to have made any decisions that are bad for the UTAD. NONE of his decisions have had a chance to come to fruition. Just negative Neybob's of Fulmer worship.

I am proud of coach Fulmer's time at UT. He slipped, he was let go. It's THAT SIMPLE! There is plenty of blame to go around for UT not winning more games with the talent we had from 95' to 2005. Some will say, "yeah but he had a .750 winning percentage". Well yeah, but during his last 5 years he was only 47% against top 25 teams. We had more talent than that on those teams. Some would say enough talent for him to be closer to .800. THAT is the reason for his being fired. PERIOD!

It's not that simple. Really complicated. I don't have time to go over it again, but the administration undercut Fulmer and the football program. Higher standards cut the fringe student recruits, administration stole money from the football team. Other stuff went on, long sad story. Things are looking up and I think Butch Jones will make the Orange and White proud!

It proves that bama is evil because obama is pure evil. The last 5 years have been terrible because of these two evil forces.

Written on Tennessee football takes another hit in NCAA academic rate, could face serious penalties without improvement:

in response to oldster:

Is it a coincidence that the grades got lower during the time that the team's performance on the field worsened, too? Could there be a connection via emotions, self-esteem, etc?

The connection is that creep Derek Dooley! Ths loser nearly destroyed a once great program. Thanks Mike Hamilton, I hope you two losers are enjoying our money.

Written on Vols tight end Mychal Rivera drafted by Oakland Raiders:

in response to yabadabadoo1026:

you never saw me claiming he was a 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th, 5th, or 6th round pick----I said he deserved better than what he got/ nothing. I'm not promoting him---agree with most of what you mentioned-- but if he was a complete nobody/ undeserving of even a round 7 pick bum then he wouldn't have made it to Grudens TV interview show when there were 15 other QBs he could have done it with. But to blame him for not winning big games when we had about the worst D in the country giving up 40 a game is just not fair-----he had plenty of help not winning big games

Actually I thought Bray would be a 5th, 6th, 7th round pick. He signed with the Dolphins. Last season wasn't all Bray, starts with Dooley, Sunseri. The problem with Bray is he is self centered, no leadership skills, he has a loser attitude, he has been given everything in life, hasn't worked his tail off to improve. Hopefully he will have a attitude ajustment and make it in the NFL.

Written on Former Vol Montori Hughes selected in 5th round of NFL draft:

Ain't that the truth. The coach dooley took 3 years off. Thankfully the 3 year nightmare is over.

Written on Vols tight end Mychal Rivera drafted by Oakland Raiders:

in response to yabadabadoo1026:

are you such a simpleton to think Tyler Bray solely wins games or loses games himself and the rest of the team has no part in the outcomes?????? Some of you folks are over the top in your hate. His off the field immaturity spoken of here was minor and unconsequential in the scheme of things, the LSU regular, repeat dope offender got drafted and well as a teammate just arrested 2 days ago. Bray deserved a better fate ------not even the TB haters could could have ever expected him to go unpicked. As for D'rick I dont have any sympathy for him as he did himself in with bad decisions of a larger magnitude than TB---how dumb do you have to be to trade in receiving passes from Bray at Tenn and getting national attention to getting no attention at a small school.

Are you so simple to think Bray is a 1st round pick because he is tall and has a big arm? Not winning big games is only part of it. Bray has no mobility, no leadership skills, a questionable work ethic, immaturity and a bad self centered attitude. I am not surprised he didn't get drafted. This might be the best thing that has ever happened to him.

Written on Vols tight end Mychal Rivera drafted by Oakland Raiders:

Tyler Bray is a Loser! He has a rotten attitude. In 3 years he didn't beat any Top 25 teams. He lost to Kentucky, he quit. Perhaps this will be a wakeup call.

Written on Source: Graham was offered $40,000 raise to $300,000:

in response to nocleats:

This has as much to do with Jimmy Cheeks refusal to allow Tennessee Coaches to recruit the same players as the rest of the SEC and NCAA because of his stupid admission policies. It is something he, AD D Hart, Coaches and former coaches have been "looking at" and "addressing" for a few years now with Cheek only allowing a few "academic exceptions" per class. HOW CAN THEY BE ACADEMIC EXCEPTIONS IF THEY MEET SEC AND NCAA REQUIREMNTS?> Cheek needs to be removed.

Exactly right! The football team made millions of dollars that Cheek stole from them. Classic liberalism, take from the achievers, tear them down and use their money to promote your do good causes, while the elites like Cheek get rich.

Written on John Adams: Losing Jay Graham is more than just losing a running backs coach:

Jay Graham was home grown. He was a good RB coach. He was a very good recruiter. He was a bright spot on this staff. Now he is gone, very disappointing. This make you have doubts about coach Jones and have doubts that he can win football games at Tennessee.

Written on Jay Graham leaving Vols for Florida State:

in response to MidTennVol:

I am sick and tired of waking up in the morning and reading nothing but bad news coming from this football program. It's been going on for EIGHT YEARS, back to Fulmer's 2005 humiliating season.

I was prepared to give Jones the fair chance/benefit of the doubt -- just like we all did with Kitten and Dooley. But this is just DUMB.

Letting the ONLY Vol leave the program? How stupid is this? If he performs, pay him more than he deserves just to stay. This seems like a no-brainer. And, by all accounts, Jay was definitely performing. How dumb to you have to be to let Jay Graham leave?

Now we have our THIRD staff of carpet-baggers who do not have a CLUE about what Tennessee football means. We have another crowd who apparently doesn't get it.

And they just turned up the pressure on themselves several notches to win IMMEDIATELY.

Here we go again.

I agree. What bothers me is Coach Jones talks about how he is going to reach out to alumni, and then Jay Graham leaves. Talk is cheap, seems hypocritical.
If coach Jones is going to win at Tennessee, he has to be able to recruit. Bringing in all these coaches from Ohio, Michigan, Wisconsin know nothing about the SEC, the South, or Tennessee, and it will be hard to win if you finish 11th in recuiting in the SEC.

Written on Anthony Parker joins staff as grad assistant:

Why not hire Cincinati alumni? Those northern coaches are superior to these Tennessee alumni!

Written on Source: Graham was offered $40,000 raise to $300,000:

I don't think we know the whole story. It is very disappointing. I thought coach Jones was trying connect with the past and now the homegrown coach and ace recruiter leaves. Please don't hire another northern yankee RB coach. Coach Jones this is the SEC not the Big East. Winning will solve a lot of problems but this is a big loss! If nothing else this is a bad PR move for coach Jones. It make him look really bad. A real disconnect for the fans!

Written on Jay Graham leaving Vols for Florida State:

Very disappointing. Thought Jay Graham would be a star coach at UT. Coach Jones needs to realize talk is cheap, and this is the SEC, coach Jones needs to win, and have a big recruiting year next year. Frustrating. Please don't hire another flunkie from Cincinniti!

On a side note if you take all guns away from citizens, thenthe only people with guns ae the criminals and the government. You are opening up the door to big problems?

Coach Jones only had 30 days to recruit, most of the hay was already in the barn, moron. Check back next February, and the Vols will have a top 10 class. What you are under estimating is Jones ability to coach guys up. Unlike Dooloser, his team and players will improve, not to mention the attitude of fans and players. Calloway was also a 5* running back. The thing that bothers me the most is 90% of these kids don't belong on a college campus and aren't smart enough to pass highschool Arithmetic,English and Science yet we want them to play football. It is time to either start a farm league or make it where these kids can't get in. I don't know what I would do if this happened to my daughter or son.

The Alabama team is out of control. They don't get students they gets thugs and criminals! This is the type of the iceberg, there is a lot of corruption and rules being violated. I think the NCAA should take a long hard look at whats going on down there.

Written on Poll: How would you rate Tennessee's 2013 signing class?:

in response to claiborneh:

If you want to compare recruiting classes to the rest of the country, then I suppose an A or B makes sense in trying to determine a nationwide scale. But if we are attempting to compete for the SEC Championship, and thus National Championship, then we get a big fat F. You simply are very unlikely to compete for a championship in our conference when you are the 11th best in recruiting. So I give our class an F because I want to beat Alabama, Florida, and LSU.

I think you are being a little harsh. I know exactly how you feel 11th in the SEC is not good. Six of the top 25 prospects in the state of Tennessee. Its disappointing and frustrating. It is going to take time to turn this around. Coach Jones had 30 days to get the job done and that is a tough sale. It has been hard being a Vol fan for the last 4 year. I hate losing!
The best grade maybe "I" incomplete. Let Coach Jones and staff coach these boys up and create some excitement and next year at this time we will have a top 10 class! Keep your head up, and be patient winning is right around the corner! GBO!

It is disappointing not to get Bell or Lawson or some other four or five star players. Its concerns me we finish 11th out of 14 teams in the SEC. The Vols got 6 players out of Rivals top 25 players in the state of Tennessee.
Turning this thing around want be easy, I think Butch Jones is up for the challenge. It will require a lot of work. Hope all of the Vol fan will get on board and be patient. I think Coach Jones will have a top 10 class next year. Go Big Orange!

True, but look at the top 10 prospects in the state of Tennesse and many of them went somewhere besides our mighty Vols.

Well Well Well Glory Days.

Mike Hamilton was the "Answer" not the "Problem" and "The Dream Team" of myself and Dad and Ed was a massive upgrade from the old ways of running a run down SEC has-been. So much so, that the legendary program at 'SC made us an offer that allowed us to keep our UT pay, and get paid in L.A. too!

Hammy fired the home-grown crew afer proving they couldn't do it any longer. Try to recruit only in-state and the really talented coaches would never come your way again.

How talented are we? This year we will have two #1 QB draft picks -- Tyler B, and the supremely talented Matt here at 'SC. AND, AND , AND we beat Both UK and Vandy everytime we played them AND also blew out UGA and called out the cheating Gamecocks.

Jimmy Cheek is only second to the other famous leader of people with the initials "J.C." I mean he's awesome!

Amen brother! I have to admit I had to read this a couple times to understand it. First thought was that peanut farmer. Lancaster B.C. is the place to go in Southern California.

The irony of you mispelling "incompatant" is surpassed only by the idiotic notion that Fulmer's firing was mishandled. The Vanderbilt game was Fulmer's celebration game and the stands were 3/4 full. The program did not leave Phil Fulmer; he left the program by being lazy.

I'm sick of the Fulmer lovers who can't let him go. I want someone on this site to tell me a good way to fire someone. No matter what the person in charge does, there will always be those who disagree with how a firing was handled. That you have chosen the name "GloryDays" tells us all we need to know. Get over Phil Fulmer and Doug Dickey. Oh, and try spell check once in a while.

Go Butch Jones and his staff and GBO!

It's not the curl in the pig's tail that puts ham on the table. I think you are missing my point, First I don't get it, why people don't respect Phillip Fulmer? This man gave 30 years of his life for the University of Tennessee. He truly represents the statement "Vol for Life". How people can disrespect him, boggles my mind.
Yes, Fulmer made some mistakes, being lazy was not one of them, you may want to consult Mr Webster for the defintion. Fulmer was a great recruiter, just look at the NFL pro bowlers. Fulmer was too loyal he promoted Randy Sanders. He didn't replace assistance who were lazy, and who couldn't recruit. Big mistake was hiring Dave Clausen, this guy's offensive playbook was a disaster. If Fulmer was to be fired, Hamilton should have had a plan to replace him. He did not! How have you liked the last 4 years? I hate losing and it is fans like you who have partially caused this.

I too followed recruiting back in the early 90's buying out of town newspapers, Jeff Whitaker's Deep South recruiting guide, Forrest Davis Recruiting Annual, Southeast Recruiting Alliance, ect. The good old days without the internet.
I believe Butch Jones knows what he is doing and will get this thing turned around. It takes believing in what you are doing and having enthusiasm. It takes winning some games. It takes coaching players up, overachieving. Jones and his staff have to be relentless in recruiting. Then he needs to land several big time players and win a few more games and get others prospects excited about wearing Orange and this thing will take off again. Go Vols!

Written on A road map for getting back: Study shows Vols' fall from glory years:

I think there are many factors that have caused the decline of Tennessee football. A lot of it happened when Doug Dickey retired. Mike Hamilton really dropped the ball. The way Fulmer was fired. The hiring of sleezy Kiffin. Then the hiring of incompatent Dooley, he was not qualified to coach or recruit. Hamilton spent his time trying to extract as much money from the Tennessee fans as possible.
Much of the blame has to go on Jimmy Cheek, he made it harder for top players to be admitted, he took away the support system for student athletes, did away with athletic dorms, got his grubby paws in the athletic departments money.
As Phillip Fulmer said, "recruiting is the lifeblood", of a winning college football team. I think Butch Jones knows that, and will spend 365 days a year doing it. Rome wasn't built in a day and it will take coach Jones some time to get this thing going. Go Big Orange!

Correction, being a "hater" is hating somebody because they are doing good. Like disliking Manning or Brady. I personally could care less how good of a man Dooley is. We hired him to coach, recruit, and win! We didn't hire him cause of his manners or good intentions. So all of you Dooley supporters, have fun watching the cowboys not make the playoffs again. I'm all on board for Butch. Now he is a coach. Dooley may do well as receivers coach. Maybe, and if he does, fine with me, but he should have never been our HC. So don't tell me not to be bitter towards him after 3 horrible seasons and a huge buyout. Worst Vol coach ever, and we deserve better as die hard fans.

Ditto, exactly right. We should not reward or be happy with poorly coached teams. We payed 10 million for 15 wins, pathetic! Dooley was way over his head, he jumped in the deep in and didn't know how to swim. He might be a good guy thats questionable, but one fact for sure is that as a head coach he is a LOSER!
