On Kentucky eating up Cobb; ex-Alcoa QB says UT's recruitment 'sounded like a big lie'

Where does all of this stuff about black come from? Why not pink with white lace...has about as much to do with UT colors as black does.
On Poll: If Tennessee decides to wear orange pants during a road game, which game should it be?

The orange jersey with white trim and white pants with orange stipes uniform the vols wore in the mid to late 60's were the best looking uniforms EVER! I wish they would go back to those. Also, at that time there was no white jersey away uniform that I recall. There was only one uniform and that was that. I went to the 69 Cotton Bowl game against Texas and at that game UT wore white jerseys. I suppose it was because the two teams colors were so similar. Because there was no black outline on the numerals you could barely read the numbers on the jerseys. I suppose other teams did not like wearing their road unis at home. I remember Bear Byrant saying that he thought UT's one uniform scheme was cool and he had no problem conforming. I thought that was a great "tradition". Kinda like LSU's white home jerseys.

Why would you fight a subpoena? It is not charges or an indictment. You go in, tell the truth, go home. What's the big deal?

Don't know much about this guy (Delmonico) but it seems he did at least as well for his team as Phil Fulmer has done for his. Where's Delmonico's raise and contract extention?

I was a freshman in college that year and I hitchiked to Memphis to see that game. I remember it was really cold hitchiking back from the game. My seat was in a corner of the stadium and there were a lot of empty seats around me. The Dewey Warren touchdown was directly below me and I had no doubt that he did cross the goalline. I don't remember a lot of fuss about it at the time. I do remember the T Prothro rant. As I recall, his main beef was he said that UT got an official timeout on the last drive (UT was out of TO's) that aided UT. Another thing, Michigan State got all of the print that year, greatest team ever and all that crap. UCLA waxed MSU in the Rose bowl that year. I thought it sure made UT look good.

Richvol, I agree with everything you said in your 5:16 post until your last paragraph regarding the Big Ten vs. the SEC. First I believe (and on this I could be incorrect) UT integrated in 1965. I did not attend UT but I am certain UT-Martin was integrated no later than fall, 1965. I can’t believe UT-Martin integrated earlier than UT-Knoxville.
Also, the Big Ten and PAC 8 signed on to the exclusive deal with the Rose Bowl in the late 1940’s. If either of those two conferences had black players then, it was certainly not a wide-spread phenomenon Also, the Big Ten and PAC 8 did not send any teams to any bowl game other than the Rose Bowl for many years. The other bowls had little choice but to select SEC, SWC and Big 8 teams. Also, I remember an interview in the late 60’s or early 70’s, with Woody Hays, in which he said, OSU had no intention of scheduling tough nonconference football foes in the regular season. He called nonconference games “preseason” games. I do recall Georgia Tech and Tulane playing some Big Ten teams in the early 60’s (they were SEC doormats then). The Big Ten changed it’s attitude some after years of losing the Rose Bowl and with the rise in prominence of Bear Bryant (who was a good friend of Woody Hays) and Alabama. I remember that most of the negative feelings SEC fans had towards the Big Ten were based on the image of the Big Ten and PAC 8 being privileged, country club conferences that were the darlings of the eastern press. They had to earn very little on the field to be Natl. Champs. I think, back then, Big Ten fans viewed the SEC as a bunch of insignificant, ignorant rednecks.

What worries me now is, with this information, the cheap shot artists at Auburn will be aiming for Foster's knees.
