This all reads pretty ugly. I had always counted Travis as overall a good guy, one who was an academic question mark in high school (UF never recruited him for this reason, as I remember) but got eligible and stayed eligible and played for 4 years, made it in the pros so that his Mom could quit that job at the orange juice plant. It seems like I remember that he even graduated, does anyone one remember?

I guess #1 is implying that Reynolds and Mitchell were too slow for end? Has that been the problem with the pass rush? Combine an improved secondary with faster rush ends and there could be some good possibilities there. However, I've been excited about the secondary before.

About the punting, let's say the punter is slow, but if you do protect and he gets it off, doesn't that allow the coverage an extra second to get downfield and put pressure on the receiver? Taking that to the other extreme, if a punter gets the punt off in 1 nanosecond, doesn't that deliver the ball to the receiver earlier, thereby allowing him to size up the coverage earlier? It seems to me you want to get it off as late as you can consistently protect.

On 5 keys (off the beaten path ) for the Vols

I know I may be getting hung up on words too much, but I am leery of putting too much emphasis on "playmakers" and "getting the ball to certain people" at the expense of "plays" and execution. Maybe I'm too old fashioned, but I think if you go with a well conceived offense, execute it well, and get players to buy into it, that's seems more consistent to me. Playmakers sometimes will not last. Either they get hurt, they get disgruntled, they flame out either off the field or in class or things go great and they go pro early.

Having said that, I do think we need a new offense, hopefully our opponents will have to spend more time preparing for us, rather than just saying, "this is what they do, this is how to stop it". Anyway, just some spring talk, I look forward to seeing it on 1 Sept.

Interesting article on the dynamics right now regarding the point guard situation and Bruce Pearl. Maybe Ramar reasserted himself a little and will take the pressure off CBP. Probably the key factor in how we do from this point.

Good morning and Happy Easter to all. I am in the Navy and stationed up here in the DC area and there is a really good article on Bruce Pearl on the front page of the sports section of the Washington Post. He is certainly putting UT on the basketball map, and folks are watching us. Its fun to see this, I hope we can shake our recent funk and keep it going, it would be a disappointment to have us fall short of the round of 8, but its great to have such a dynamic coach in charge of the program. The article gives an insight to him tells me the program will keep getting better and better. If I knew how to link it to you all I'd do it maybe later.

On Right decision? Crown sought with Prince in guard rotation

It seems like a strange kind of attitude has enveloped the team since the Memphis game. Its kind of a rationalization of losses or close wins against teams they would drill earlier. Unsettling. Anybody get the same feeling?

Well, no one can say that BP is afraid to make personnel changes at a crucial point in the season. Feel bad for Jordan though. I have to say I was more concerned with inside defense that the guards, but maybe that's where the problems were starting.

Unbelievable. Georgia wins the SEC tournament with a 17-16/4-12 "body of work" and gets the automatic bid. We have our best team in history, and cant' finish Arkansas. Don"t get me wrong, I love BP but if we didn't win this tournament this year, then when? Georgia had to win, what, 3 games in 24 hours? As for our seeding, the only consolation is that BP can legitimately use the "they dissed you" approach and maybe our PGs will wake up and this team may get on a tear and kick some. But this draw sucks.

You gotta love Pearl's attitude. Own the loss, break the tape down and get better. This mindset is passed on to the players, and that's a good thing.
