I'd be shocked, knowing the connections between coaches, and this kid's style, and our immediate need at point guard, if Maze didn't commit very soon to the Vols.

And people wonder why he seemed a bit off this season? Geez. I have friends who have gone through this, and I am damned surprised CL was even able to hit the court at all.

"Many a Sat I have witnessed a few students selling there tix on the street to people who did not know they could not use them without an ID."

Now, I don't know how it is in 2008, but in 1987-1996, you could easily go to Gate 10, Gate 24, or any of the gates facing campus and gain entry on a student ticket. I used to get 8 tickets for each game and take my friends who were not UTK students. Not one time were they turned away for not having student IDs.

I've been following women's hoops for quite sometime, all of it as a Vol fan. It's always nice to look at a repeat national champion and say "this is the greatest team of all time", etc. And it's easy for us to think that as Vol fans. However, at first pass, I wouldn't even rank this year's team in the top three. My top four look like this:

1) 1998 Lady Vols, with Holdsclaw, Catchings, and Randall

2) The UConn Huskies team with Taurasi, Cash, Bird, and Jones

3) The USC team with Cheryl Miller, Cynthia Cooper, and the McGee girls

4) This year's Lady Vols.

That being said, this group was tenacious on defense when they wanted to be (i.e., in the tournament), and CP has some spectacular skills. These girls will be missed on the Hill.

We will be fine.

On Thinking Elite, not defeat

The difference between GT/Pitt and Boise/OK is that the former played actual defense, while the latter did not. If we defend the perimeter aggressively, we win this game. eb502us is right - LV has average shooters when they are defended. They do not have a Jajuan, or CL that can hit while contested. While the media and Vegas wax orgasmically about LV, I've watched a dozen or so of their games, and I remain unimpressed. I believe the Vols pull this one out.

And if CBP isn't doing so deliberately, well, it's fun to think that he MIGHT be. Heh.

With Tyler playing his "point forward" position in the middle of the 2-3, we'll be fine. His passing skills and his ability to go to the basket will make him invaluable.

As for the walking boot, I concur with utchris2003... he will be fine. It's not unusual to be in a walking boot after tweaking an ankle.

And as for CBP, it's pretty obvious that he's deliberately obfuscating things to play mind games with Pitino. Lofton or no Lofton? Prince, Ramar or Howell at point? Pressure or half court? Who knows what CBP is going to pull out of his hat.

No matter what, it sure is fun being part of the Sweet Sixteen for two years in a row. Unprecedented for this perennial doormat of a basketball program.

Just curious... how is it that a 1 seed Tennessee gets a 9 seed on that team's home court, yet a 1 seed Maryland team gets its opponent in College Park?
