Speak of the devil, a perfect example, I knew I could count on you, Workin'. You know what you remind me of? An annoying pop-up ad, that comes up over and over and gets in the way when you are trying to read something intellegent someone else has to say. Too bad they don't have built in filters to weed out the the lonely, pathetic, attention-starved, too much time on their hands, posters with nothing good to say.

99Gator, as usual, you present objective opinions usually backed up by facts and are done respectfully. You posted the website "gatorcountry" and described it as a "completely different culture than this website. most of the people think florida will win every game 900-0. and if florida doesn't, they go into shock. i subscribe mostly for recruiting news (which is outstanding and usually dead on accurate) and articles by the website staff." Is there a Tennessee website out there that is similar? It would be a refreshing change to read optimism and positive articles and posts about the Vols.

Thanks Chris, your priorities are right on. I found out that I had bladder cancer in 1993, 2 months after my first child was born and will never forget how scared I was and felt like Chris described. I had chemotherapy instead of radiation, but I understand how Chris felt going through it one day at a time. I can appreciate his determination and courage to fight through it and it gives strength to the rest of us. I get tested once a year and thank God have not had a recurrence, I pray the same for Chris. That new-born is now going to be 15 next month and as a freshman is a varsity tight-end in football and a long-stick middy on his High School Lacrosse team here in Atlanta and I couldn't be prouder or more thankful. Godspeed Chris, I know your story will help many others, that are stricken with this dreadful disease, to fight on.

Wonder how many chances Duke got that we don't know about? CBP says it was "problems over a period of time and not one specific incident". Well we know it was at least 2 incidents for Duke. Sounds like a lack of supervision by the coaches, how could Bruce have let this happen? It is not like he has to watch close to 100 players, he only has 25 or so players to watch and keep out of trouble, and he has 3 or 4 assistant coaches, some Grad assistants, trainers, ect. That is about a 3 to 1 ratio or less. Sounds like we need John Adams to step in here.

Ashley, I just logged on and read this crap, but as far as I can ascertain, yes JerkinLikeHeck (Mary) is gay and monosexual most of the time, but she is being pursued by Silent_Fulmer, which is probably JerkinLikeHeck wearing a gay_gag thing like the "Gimp" in Pulp Fiction. What do these freaks have to do with Tennessee Football is what I would like to know.

GerryOP you were truly blessed to have lived in those times, my grandmother was Gen. Neyland's secretary and the treasurer for UT Athletic Department under the General and knew him very well. And my father also was alive (and still is) during the late Neyland years, but he will tell anyone who asks (and a lot of people who don't ask, LOL), that he still holds the "perfect season" and his trip to Tempe in '98 as his fondest memory. I think it is clear that since 2001 we have dropped below our standards, and I agree that things have changed and it is much more difficult to win the SEC, but I think we have turned the corner now and the next decade will be much more to our liking, I hope we both are still here to see that, my friend.

GerryOP - Were you alive to enjoy the General Neyland era? I am not being sarcastic, it is feasible if you are in your 70's you could have been a teenager in the 50's When the General had his final run with the Vols. If that is the period you are referring to that us younger folks missed, we surely did and you are right. Those were the days when a tradition of excellence was established. After the General died, we didn't exactly keep up that tradition for the next 40 years. The second period of what could be considered "the glory years" would have to be in the late 90's with Back to Back SEC championships and, of course the 13-0 National Championship in 1998. Please clarify if you disagree.
