Mike,
That's a half-glass-empty look at things.
It looks like Adams is rubbing off on you.
Business as usual for a columnist, when one looks at Climer, Adams, and now Stange?

Written on Tennessee releases 2014 football schedule:

in response to RollTideJoe:

If you do not add the 'modern era', Alabama has 14; Tennessee in the modern era has 2. I've never seen 7-9 for UT in any era.

As shown above, Tennessee has six.
No one here cares how many alabubba claims.
Since you desire to talk about history, isn't it ironic the school you hold in such esteem would still be in Indian territory if it were not for Andrew Jackson, and the Tennesseans?

in response to DawgDayAfternoon:

September 27th will be "Drive For Five" in a row for the Dawgs over the Big Orange. Or is it the Big Gray? This one "tween the Hedges" smells like 1981, and Hershel's 44-0 shellacking of the Vols could be in jeopardy.

You sound as confident as the bow wows in 2004.
The difference between UT and uga?
Tennessee wins National Championships, while uga wins sugar bowls.

Written on Butch Jones says Riyahd Jones has 'leg injury':

in response to BolivrBob:

UT coach Butch Jones said Wednesday junior Riyahd Jones, a projected started at cornerback, has “a leg injury” and is “still undergoing evaluation.”............He said "tomorrow" he is a projected "started" .......Geesh!........also the vague term "leg injury" sounds more like a Dooley statement than Butch, who usually communicates clearly.

In the NHL playoffs, teams are known to announce certain players have either, "lower body, or upper body" injuries. The lack of detail is to avoid giving anyone outside the organization a competitive advantage by divulging too much information. Butch is sharing this same mindset. I am sure he is not concerned some in message-board-land find his approach unappealing.

Written on Former Vandy football players indicted for rape:

in response to DawgDayAfternoon:

According to the article, none of them have ever played a down. So it probably won't have much effect on them. On the other hand, after the Dawgs smack them down, Jimmy Frank is sure to have them riled up to the point of putting another embarrassing stomping on the Vols. Still, cheer up. Against the Cats, you might preserve your new tradition of 1-7s in the SEC and avoid the ofer. Unless, of course, Stoops can find a wide receiver to play QB.

You are truly a frightened little man.
As well you should be.

in response to RollTideJoe:

You've got to be kidding. Look at the facts over the past 7 years or so on the Hill. Right now it appears that Jones has cleaned a lot of the thug stuff up and I commend him for it. But, there haven't been many schools with a worse thug record than UT so I wouldn't be talking. BAMA has had very little problem and had one episode early this calendar year and they're gone! Saban won't put up with it and doesn't have to.

Revisionist history much?
Bama players were selling cocaine to each other in the parking lot a few years ago.

Do we really need to talk about behavioral issues amongst teams? Sure Franklin would like to have had Hurd but Kimbrow and Wesley Tate (2 local TN boys) will fill in just fine. Signing day is still many months away and another 4-8 season could sway some recruits to another team.

in response to shiftb:

(This comment was removed by the site staff.)

I would agree in that I was hopeful for more from Marlin Lane after he spurned Clemson, and choose to attend UT. However, I believe M. Lane's reinstatement is potentially a major development for a couple of reasons.
1.) Jabo Lee failed to qualify. So, if Marlin failed to earn his place back on the roster, and Raijon were to go down, then we would have essentially been down to unproven Alden Hill at tailback. While I understand Hill has had an impressive spring, that would have been a precarious situation.
2.) Perhaps Marlin will have a new drive towards consistency with a new coaching staff, and a second chance.
