While I agree with you that Petrino is only using WKU as a stepping stone don't you think WKU will be a much more attractive spot for their next coaching search if Petrino has them winning 10, 11 or 12 games each year? Same thing at Tennessee. Do you think Strong or any number of other coaches would have turned Hart down if UT was coming off a 10-2 season?

If Tennessee was 10-2, Dooley would still be in Knoxville. He would probably been named coach of the year and got an extension.

Butch Jones is one of the better young coaches in the business. I hope it all works out with him here, if he decides to take the job. Yes he has won before and I respect that, but he has never been through an SEC schedule. Players love to play for this guy ,but only time will tell.

Butch Davis wants the job, so give it to him. He has been cleared of all NCAA sanctions, great recruiter, and a Winner. Not to mention he is affordable with no "buy out" clause.

I think you guys are a bit off base here. Strong can have a long career at U of L and be well praised while earning more than 90% of the college coaches out there. More than you or I would ever hope for in our careers.

He'll be appreciated and loved in Louisville and long remembered if he stays 10 - 15 years. He'll have his pick of the local talent which is extensive and probably the state talent. He'll do better then his big brother up the road in Lexington and gladly share the spot light with the BB program rather than being blinded by it.

On the otherhand, he can come to Knoxville. He'll be expected to take UT to the December Atlanta game every year and win the SEC outright at least once every 3 or 4 years or be considered a failure. And he has to do it immediately, 7 wins or less next year and the torches and pitchforks will come out.

A potential goat in Knoxville or a god in Louisville?

My point is, why have the coaches that we have targeted not committed. There is a Great opportunity for someone to come in and solidify a program, make one heck of a name for themself if successful, work in first class facilities, a top notch stadium, passionate fan base, and make millions of dollars while doing it in a great college town.

Just read the link SummittsCourt posted. If Butch Davis truly wants the UT job give it to him. He can coach, recruit, and is a WINNER. I know he had NCAA troubles while at at UNC, but he knows he must run a clean program here with no exceptions. I would much rather hire someone that wants to come here to coach than someone who only shows up here because of the $$$$.

I hope you are correct, but I still believe Kirby Smart is Hart's guy. UT can probably hire him cheaper than any of the three listed above and he probably has a affordable buyout if any at all.

These guys are not leaving there established programs to come to Knoxville and lets face it in each of there respective states they have as much clout as the Governor does. Like I said earlier lets get someone who wants to be here and wants to be the face of the program for years to come, not someone who is only here for the $$$.

Actually I don't understand the benching of Bray, but don't pick on the defense they are playing really good other than the opening run.
