Written on Jay Graham leaving Vols for Florida State:

in response to asleep#212036:

Mixed feelings. On one hand, no doubt our RB's played better last year and he was the only former Vol on Butch Jones' staff, all good. However, for all his alleged recruiting prowess, we were not able to sign a big-time RB this class, even with no real proven SEC talent in the upper classes, should have been a chip-shot, not good. Bottom line is both money and his connections to Tee Martin and Randy Sanders sealed the deal, although Randy currently owns the spot he has coached at his last two schools.

As far as the Dooley 2.0 comments, pure silliness. Dooley has never won anywhere he's ever coached and in fact, the subsequent La Tech coach took his players and won with them. Jones has won everywhere he's ever coached and has proven so far to be a tireless worker and recruiter. If Graham wants to head to FSU and coach in the ACC, let him go. And I cannot agree more with the VFL comments - just another Dooley sound bite (among innumerable others) designed to make us think the program was headed in the right direction - BS all the way. Unfortunately Jones has no choice but to forge on with it... Read Eric Berry's (and several other former Vols') comments on Butch Jones and then decide whether or not he is preferable to Dooley from folks in the know. Go Vols!!!

Agreed. IMHO, JG from a running back position has not produced stellar results. Improved, yes but hasn't hit it out of the park on recruiting. Remember, he HAS been here a season.
It's a business. Wish him well, see you on down the line.

PS: After seeing Sal in action, any school that would hire him strikes me as a little cloudy on the judgement meter.
Yes Sal did well at parole tide, but the parolees have a lot of talent, red shirt, gray shirt or stripped pants.

Written on John Adams: Cincinnati's bowl gives UT fans glimpse of 'Butch Ball' :

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE:

Butch Ball?? I thought this was a story about UT fb, not Baylor bb..My bad.

Look........closely .........Adams ........Apple . Not John , he doesn't have one.

Written on Jarnell Stokes in spotlight as UT prepares for Memphis :

Easy answering the Stokes issue, but apparently difficult to execute. Without the quick kick out to the shooter when the double comes (and it almost always does) you either get tied up in the double or give the defense time to get back to the shooter.
The issue is whether Stokes is holding the ball too long at this point or the shooters aren't moving to shot position.
I think JS is good, very good. When his decision making on keep or kick comes a lot more quickly , he will be almost unstoppable

Written on Derek Reese picks up the pieces for Vols, 51-47 :

I know the offense looks dull now, but wait until our newest 5 star
gets here. He can flat fill it up.

Written on David Climer: Time to give Derek Dooley some credit:

Feeling conciliatory Climer? After all the crying you have done about him? You have zero credibility on this one.

Written on Juco DT Ben Bradley no longer a Tennessee commitment:

in response to pcshowtime:

We can not read to much into this year. but if next year he can not land a top 10 class then you might as well get used to .600 football. This is simply the nature of the SEC. I hope this works out for us.

Totally irrational , to many BCS teams in the past that never break the top 10. Player development is the key

Written on Butch Jones promises 'best staff in the country' :

in response to 87and1dad:

Also bring in Trooper Taylor - a known recruiter in the south. Auburn let him go today.

Trooper is damaged goods. A primary suspect in the Auburn NCAA investigation

Written on Phillip Fulmer had 'the right influences' on way to Hall of Fame :

Al. Fans hate his guts. Makes him a great candidate to me!
Not a candidate we have looked at has his resume, including Gruden (can't believe some thought Gruden would actually come).
I thought it was time for Phil to go......I was wrong. None of these Jacklegs we have spoken with are serious, just pimping their AD's
Phil been classy even when UT wasn't . He deserves another shot if he wants it.

The Farragut Press and Bearden Shopper have more insight to sports than this article......perhaps JA should check into it. I heard its a better job than Knoxnews.com

Mr Adams,
I have often been dissatisfied with the quality of your articles when you overuse sarcasm and ramble about nothing.
