Written on John Adams: Butch Jones hasn't had enough time to change UT's losing ways:

Last year at this time, John Adams made this statement in an article: ''In fact, I wouldn't be shocked if Dooley were named SEC coach of the year at the end of the season.''

http://www.govolsxtra.com/news/2012/a...

Just like some of you have said, your opinion is as good, if not better than his. 7-5.

Written on Vols aiming to have nation's top offensive line:

in response to NINEisgonnabeFINE:

It won't matter. On September 17th, this offensive line is going to get blown away. Fowler, Powell, and Easley are gonna have a field day. This is not the team or the atmosphere you want your inexperienced QB making his SEC debut against. Especially after coming back from the west coast against a power like Oregon. Games three and four are gonna be ugly. Sorry if this hurts your kool-aid filled heart.

EIGHT!

Who???

Written on Butch Jones to pick QB early next week:

in response to DeltaCharlie3:

Newsflash, Clem. Cincinnati is in no way, shape, or form, a "major" game to any reputable SEC program, and NC State is a marginal team from a lousy conference. Neither of those were major games. Embarrassing.

Hey Ernest. Didn't you say the same thing about Louisville last year?

Written on Butch Jones to pick QB early next week:

in response to TNRiverRat:

Mopes and Gomers, experts all before and after the starter is named!

Once Coach Jones names the starter, watch how many come on here afterwards and share their expert opinions on why he is wrong and how much smarter they are, who they would have selected instead based on their expert observations and analysis ... from their couch.

It will be hilarious reading, something to look forward to soon!

Ain't it the truth!

Written on A 'smokey' shade of gray for Tennessee football uniform:

in response to VolsFanInAfghanistan:

Oh how I really wish I could say what I want on this page to some of you. If I could i'm sure I would be in a parking lot lining some of you up for a good ole fashion TENNESSEE @#$ whoopin. Uniforms do not make a team, the young men on that team make it. What does it matter if we change for a game or two? Some of you whine about us losing and we need change. Some of you whine about the coaching staff and the front office. Nothing is going to make everyone happy, but if wearing a new uni makes the young men playing this game happy them let them go out and have fun playing for the UNIVERSITY OF TENNESSEE. Some of you truly need to get over yourselves. It's not about what you want, its about what help sell the Volunteer brand to the new generation of players.

Outstanding post! Totally agree.

Written on Reaction to new UT uniforms likely generational:

in response to TommyJack:

Straight from geezerdom, I have no problem with the grey unis. IF they're used only occasionally. ( I would suggest they go with grey helmets too)

Yea, grey or maybe even orange helmets. The white and grey seem too bland.

Written on Vols new alternative football uniform adds a 'smokey' shade of gray:

in response to 83Vol:

Butch, Butch, Butch.... This is your idea of respecting the traditions of Tennessee? Get real. No self respecting Vol would want to wear gray. Are you kidding? It's ORANGE and WHITE. Period.

Actually I have more than one grey sweat shirt with an orange T, or orange Tennessee on it. And I definitely respect myself.

Written on Vols new alternative football uniform adds a 'smokey' shade of gray:

Look a little too blue to me. Was hoping for something more orange...

Written on Draft losses force Vols to rely on young receivers:

in response to Lizardgrad89:

Your passing game is going to be your undoing this year. Teams will overload the box and choke your offense. Your defense has a long way to go to be anywhere close to decent. People who think this is a bowl team really don't understand football.

Oh I'm so glad we got Mr. Football himself here to set us all straight.

Written on Poll: Of Tennessee's four non-conference games per season, how many should be against teams from power conferences?:

in response to VOLKING:

Yeah. Right. Comparing Pac 12 teams to the SEC. Thanks for playing. Might as well be the OVC.

Written on Mark Wiedmer: SEC football fans touchy about uniform changes:

I like the state symbol idea. In orange and white of course.

True, he never had a losing season, but:

7-3-2
7-5
6-5

I'm thinking that probably went over the head of JANDS.

Written on Coalfield sophomore lineman Zach Stewart gets offer from Tennessee:

in response to exlineman:

For UT Fans, some of these trolls seem to forget the great Herschel Walker from a single A school in Ga. (a heisman trophy winner, former all american and NFL player, that we just barely got beat out by Ga. for his services. Another great player who recently passed away was Reggie Harper from little old Hartsville, Tn. yellow jackets. Seems like I also remember some of those great wide receivers we once had out of Frostproof Fl. and others I can't remember right off hand. This young man could possibly become one of the best lineman to ever play for us. Sometimes too much emphasis is placed on the size of a school. The post that mentioned a 7th grader with the speed he mentioned, needs to be known by Coach Jones. We need great athletes irregardless of the school size. It would be nice for someone to go back and do the legwork of just how many great athletes we have signed from small schools to go to the NFL. Go Big Orange.

If I'm not mistaken, all-pro linebacker Patrick Willis played for a little 1-A school over in West Tennessee.

Butch does not seem to be quite the sharpest pencil in the box. He has had a couple glaring clock management issues this year. I personally am happy with Arky, TN, & UK hires. None pose a threat to outcoaching UGA. My jury is still out on Malzahn. Not surprised the orange crowd who knows FB is not happy w/ the Cincy cast-off

Written on As Jon Gruden drama ends, focus shifts to other Tennessee candidates :

in response to jplemons80:

I don't think Strong would make a good fit her. While he has done a decent job at Louisville, he got his job by playing the race card. That does not fit in with integrity Hart has stated he wants. And realistically, the longer the wait the better coach we may get. Most of the better coaches will not want to leave their team till after the bowl games. So settle in for a long wait

Yet you're all in for hiring sleazeball Petrino.

UT use to be a proud institution. There was a sense of pride all thru the state about our team. Coaches use to look upon UT as a dream job. Now, the powers that be are practically begging/selling our soul to get some guy to coach our team. I don't think this state, this university, should have to beg ANYBODY to come here. Dave Hart's phone should be ringing, not the other way around. What the hell happened to our program.

I don't see how anyone but Dave Hart's secretary would know if his phone is ringing or not.
