Article says the Bama players punched the ones they robbed, this is outrageous, we need to ban all fists and confiscate what we can immediately, Or at least we need strickter fist laws so we will all be safe.

Good thing Dooley isn't still here or they would probably end up as Vols

Written on Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Cordarrelle Patterson, Darrington Sentimore to NFL draft:

in response to keepitreal4vols:

He won't hear his name on draft day and will be lucky to get an invite to be on practice squad. He must have been advised by the same people who advised Dennis Rogan.

I agree! Also I think Bray will go in first three rounds but he will have a Ainge type career IMO.

Written on Tyler Bray, Justin Hunter, Cordarrelle Patterson, Darrington Sentimore to NFL draft:

"Sentimore played in all 12 games for the Vols in 2012, starting nine and recording 18 tackles, 4.0 sacks, and 5.0 tackles for loss. He also recorded six quarterback hurries and recovered one fumble for Tennessee."

Wow, you mean you can play in the NFL with those stats? If he is drafted it will be LATE rounds.

Written on Juco DT Ben Bradley no longer a Tennessee commitment:

in response to gbirchfiel:

So, we complain about Dooley getting commitments from 3-star recruits and then we complain when we don't sign them.

Excellent point! Lets not lose any sleep over losing a 3 star recruit. We will be fine!

Written on Jay Graham likely only holdover from Derek Dooley's staff :

If we get Tee Martin that would be great having Tee and Jay Graham both on staff. I'm liking the new coach and staff.

Written on Players, recruits respond to hiring :

in response to snuffysmiff:

That's what I read too, however, he likes a mobile QB so it might mean goodbye from Tyler Bray in April. Last time Tennessee won big they had a mobile QB named Tee Martin.

He did say he recruited Nathan Peterman though. Maybe Peterman will be our star QB of the future.

in response to johnlg00:

That is the attitude all true fans should have right now. Can't say I am turning hand-springs over the hire, but I don't know who else we could get that would do that to me. Seems like a solid, energetic guy who might do just fine, given time and support. Unfortunately, too many who have commented so far seem unwilling to give him those things. Maybe he can change some minds. Welcome, Coach Jones! May you long thrive in Big Orange Country! Now get a staff and land some recruits!

Amen brother!

Written on Tennessee to pay Jones $18.2 million over six years :

All that matters comes next fall, do we win! If so we all will be Butch Jones fans, but until then lets support our new coach and his family and make them feel welcome as they are now Tennessee Vols!

*ROFL* So what are you saying, we should hire someone with a mustache?

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

Tommy Tuberville

Not my first choice but at this point I'd take him.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

If we can't get a homerun hire then why not:
Hire John Chavis HC. Keep Cheney as OC and keep entire offensive staff except I would hire Tee Martin for QB's coach. Then I'd go out and spend $1 m a year for a great DC, someone like a Ted Roof at Penn State. Then I'd pay coach Phil Fulmer a 1 month salary as a transition consultant to help Chavis and new staff to get adjusted to new transition. Do this and we will win!!

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

in response to BigOrangeRock:

Ridiculous. A program grows or dies every day.

I guess you are the same person who cries that Cutcliff is the reason for Fulmer's success.

Well guess what? Fulmer at OC under majors turned this whole program around starting with back to back SEC Championships in the early 90's.

Fulmer just knows football.

Fulmer WAS a good coach and Im proud of him but his time has passed.

I read where Alvarez at Wisconsin was at least going to put in a call to Chris Peterson. Are we placing those same calls? Chris Peterson or Gary Patterson would be homerun hires IMO.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

in response to 10seVol85_Part_Deux:

Kind of depends on whether it was his choice to replace Cut with a spread guy or not. I think he was and is a pro-style guy, and he was pressured into hiring Clawsen. Then, the people who put on that pressure weren't patient enough to give the change time to set in (kind of like the change Dooley made on the defensive side, except I think changing to 3-4 WAS Dooley's choice).

At any rate, a coach with his history and resume at UT shouldn't have been fired so quickly. It was embarrassing. He had more than earned the support he didn't receive from people who later showed the same kind of lack of support for other coaches (see the handling of the Bruce Pearl situation).

Re-hiring Fulmer would bring instant credibility in recruit's living rooms, and you can bet he still has all those relationships out there. He would bring Chavis back, and he's the only one who could. Don't anybody pretend they wouldn't love to have had Chavis this year.

Fulmer would take the job and Hart wouldn't have to out-bid anybody. Not because nobody else would want him (even if that's true), but because everybody knows his blood is Big Orange.

If there's anybody who doesn't think the Fulmer/Chavis/Chaney team would win a lot of games, you should move to Washington, where smoking that schit is legal.

You forget one big thing with Fulmer, he isn't a rebuilding type coach. He inherited Johnny Majors hard work and yes he improved on it but UT was in great shape when Fulmer took over for for Majors, unlike now. I like and respect coach Fulmer and hindsite being 20/20 I'd say we made a mistake in firing him, however his time has passed and its time to move on.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

in response to Mark63:

Voodoo, What recent interview are you talking about? Been watching espn, and they have not even talked to him yet. If he did talk in a interview. He was talking about how he was dumped by Hamilton. Don't forget who actually brought down the football program, and it was not PF. He did what he could with people who should of not even play. Was blamed, and canned for it. Hamilton got involved where he should not of, and that was recruiting players from schools who were not even on the radar.

Thats funny but I dont remember Hamilton coaching those players at UT or recruiting them and Fulmer hired Clawson. Fulmer in a recent interview stated that there were admin problems that had needed fixing for years and hinted that those caused him problems which may be true but he still was the coach and he had a great staff (other than Clawson) but yet 5-7 twice in 4 years, just like Dooley. Why would you bring him back.

Written on Names to watch: Tennessee coaching search Day 18 (updated Dec. 6):

Its hard to get excited over a Kirby Smart or Butch Jones hire, though both are good coaches. Even a Bo Pelini doesnt interest me.I hope Hart has an ace in the hole.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

Chris Low at ESPN just gave us two new names to ponder. He says there search may now turn to Kirby Smart and Butch Jones, who just turned down Colorodo job.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

in response to BigOrangeFreak:

I agree Royalty. That was exactly my problem with Fulmer. Whenever he was questioned about something that was a consistent, and obvious problem, he would bridle at the question as if it were beneath him. He went from being a humble coach, to acting as if he WAS TENNESSEE FOOTBALL.

The fact is, and always will be, that much of Fulmer's success was due to the fact that he had Cutcliffe and Chavis to rely on. He was a great recruiter, and a wonderful spokesman for UT, but in many of the last years of his tenure, he got outcoached by our opposition.

I saw the same interview you did, and it's apparent that he did not learn the lesson. People on here who are saying they would have him back because "something is better than nothing" just don't get it.

If Fulmer wants to stay a legend then he will stay retired because him coming back would be a disaster. However I wouldnt be against Chavis as HC especially if he was given the $$ to hire great asst coaches. Chris Low at ESPN says it appears our new targets may be Kirby Smart and Butch Jones, who just turned down Colorodo job for some reason.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

in response to voodoo101:

Must be great to never make a mistake.

We all make mistakes, but Fulmer sure made more than just two. Listen I like and respect coach Fulmer. I just feel his time has passed and we need to move on. The only problem I have with PF is he needs to take responsibility for his mistakes instead of trying to blame it on others as I heard him doing in a recent interview.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

If we rehire Fulmer it will make us the George Steinbrener's of college football

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

in response to voodoo101:

And those two problem years had to do with the Offensive Coordinator. A good one left, and another bringing in a complete system shuffle and having implementation problems - that sounds really familiar. Would you trash a perfectly good car just because some component failed - or would you fix the damn problem?

But whos bad judgement was it to hire those OC's? As HC you live and die by your decisions. The Clawson hire cost Fulmer his job just like the Sunseri hire cost Dooley his job.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

in response to 1959Vol:

I understand the disappointment many of you have. I am dissapointed, too. But I don't agree with your disillusionment with Hart - or Cheek. Cheek is trying to make UT a strong academic institutuion. And Hart is, I'm sure, doing his best to make us strong, athletically. He made a good- faith effort to get his man, but Coach Strong politely said, "No." Can we, as Vol fans, not accept that answer with class - without castigating and berating everyone involved in this search for a new coach, the interviewees and their schools, and even each other!?

I had never paid too much attention to who Louisville's coach was before this. But I think I will henceforth remember who Charlie Strong is and will hold him with deep respect. He is obviously a man for whom the dollar is not the only factor in life and who has a great deal of integrity and loyalty.

Let's hope that Dave Hart will be able to get us just such a coach.

I agree! Well said.

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

Why would you rehire tha man who brought our program to this point? He had two losing seasons (5-7) in his last four years, so NO you dont bring him back, but I'd take Chavis back in a heartbeat!

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

It's not Harts fault Strong and Gruden didn't come to UT! Both were offered big money, just face it UT isn't as attractive of a job as it once was. I trust Hart more than I would've Hamilton. Be patient and give him some time. Some of you have been bashing Hart even before there was anything to bash him about. I think we're lucky to have him, just give him time to prove himself.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

I would rather Hart take his time (within a week though) and find the right fit and not rush into a bad decision like Hamilton did. There are still some good coaches out there and even Phil Fulmer may get some consideration. Here are a few I favor:

1) Dan Mullen
2) Butch Jones
3) Kirby Smart
4) John Chavis
5) Tommy Tubberville

Written on Charlie Strong spurns UT offer for new deal at Louisville:

Let's look at the bright side, no other SEC school is looking for a coach now but us so we can take our time and get the pick of the liter. Did we really want Bielema or Malzone, no we didn't so the field is wide open and if we hire someone within a week then we're still in good shape.

Written on Louisville coach Charlie Strong meets with players:

There is one man who for sure would come here and would do great. John Chavis would come in a heartbeat and I believe that's if he is given the $$ to hire great asst coaches, then he would do great. Hart should at least interview him.

I can answer no to those so im your coach. Hold on............wait a minute.........sorry, just renegotiated new contract with my current team.
