On QB Petty commits to Vols after impressing coaches at camp

this is very disappointing news.

IMALLIDIOT - Has Bruce shown he can't control his program? Have they mentioned they are pursuing Bud Mackey or is there something you know that would convince us all that Maze will be gone in a year other than the completely moronic statements and unfounded speculation you offer? No, your just another idiot spouting off at the mouth who doesn't know jack about sports, talent, or the team you are supposedly a fan of. Ramar and Duke didn't go to class, smoked dope, and helped create some bad team chemistry. He dealt with that and kicked them off the team. Furthermore, Bruce Pearl has already talked numerous times about not being a NBA caliber coach. He ADMITTED he is not the x's and o's guy that you have to be to succeed in the NBA. He's a game-planner and motivator and if you watch any basketball you would know that works only at the college level. Everyone talked about the problems of Josh Tabb before he came in and he has been nothing but a team player and exemplary student-athelete.

On Adams: A compelling reference for Maze

Memphis won a national championship in handball if my memory serves me correct. They play in a "mid-major" conference and to insinuate that they have been some powerhouse in basketball (or have some winning tradition like say a Kentucky) is completely laughable. Until now, memphis has only been to one more f4 than we have. And what is this crap about reassuring ourselves our coach isnt leaving? Calipari has looked at every vacancy over the last two years. He'd love to get a job like Kansas, Indiana, UNC - the problem is he's a shady scumbag who can't win a big game.

I would think that after the Adams article Fulmer won't let KNS do any features on their new OC, let alone anyone on staff. The tone of KNS reporting has really taken a downward turn and its quite a shame that the hometown paper is denigrating what is for all intents and purposes, one of the leading economic drivers of the city.

KNS editors should know better than allowing this type of article to come out. The distance between them and the UTAD only grows wider. And John Adams is a crap-peddling SOB.

Marc ash - cutcliffe didnt come back here for the long haul and made that known up front. he wanted to be a head coach again and came out and said it the minute he was hired. It was well-known that he wouldn't be here more than 3 years.

Sure, it would have been great if he went to coach at an elite school but does anyone here think that is realistic? he is a good coach (not a great coach) but struggled recruiting and as we saw this year, struggled with play-calling. at this point in his life he more than likely realized being the Duke HC was about as good as it would get. Sure, he took folks with him, but he brought them in and then offered them promotions.

I think most of the folks above addressed quite accurately why Chavis would interview and then say no thanks. But don't come on here even suggesting that something unethical is going on - that is unless you are a bama fan and then it would be expected of you. Perhaps JC was looking around because his defense gave up more yards than nearly any TN team in history - two years in a row. I support him and will continue to - but the facts are the facts. With some notable exceptions his defense has been dreadful the last two years - despite being our saving grace in 2005.

Well put OCT. Very proud of how the Vols finished the season and very proud of Coach Fulmer for doing things the right way and keeping the search from being a media circus. He brought in some outstanding coaches and I for one am very pumped about the upcoming season and the many to follow. Go Big Orange!

This only further backs up the fact that Herschel Walker is a complete moron. Challenging a 70 year old coach to a fight? Give me a break. I think it is insulting for a coach of Richt's stature (insulting for his university and Florida) to send his players on the field to celebrate a touchdown.

Funny that I don't remember Spurrier talking about hurting anyone - just engaging the enemy to get them tossed. Plus SC already put the hurt on the dawgs this season. And finally, somebody please get Herschel some "Hooked on Phonics" tapes and grammar books to help him speak like someone who has a lick of sense.
