Written on John Adams: Confidence paying off for SEC coaches:

in response to Peoplecallmestag:

I'm a bit disappointed. This article doesn't really say much.

It's great these coaches have confidence, but that's kind of a given as you can't work/perform at their levels without it.

I would have liked to have seen some stats to back up the assertion. Right now UT has the number-one-ranked class for 2014 according to Rivals. Why not make the correlation between last year's class and 2014 based on what CBJ is cooking?

Talk about not saying much. You must not like JA because he was right about Fulmer. Even if not then no matter -- you just don't have much to say.

Oh, and those of you who disagree are just more dense JA haters. The Moronic Inferno.

Written on Robert Gillespie hired as Tennessee's new running backs coach:

in response to FanNotSheep:

Well you don't know me and you don't know an idiot from your rear end. But my point, which you obviously missed, is that a former Florida football player is not likely a Vol fan now. He is a professional and the money and a chance to further his career are why he is here.

Perhaps you are not aware that several of Jones' assistants though Vol was pronounced vole, which in case you are the idiot, is a small rodent in the same family as a mole.

I have followed UT football -- and pulled for them win or lose -- since Doug Dickey (another former Gator) was head coach, so you obviously don't even understand the concept of a true fan.

Oh yeah, it's you're, not your, but I guess maybe it's different in Texas?

Exactly, right on the money. The illiterate txvolsfan can only be from Tex-Asss.

Written on All-American Kelsey Robinson among 4 players transferring from Tennessee volleyball program:

in response to smokey8045:

Something stinks! Rob Patrick's comment about 2 players leaving from a 90+ player Florida football team being remotely comparable to 4 players transferring from a 16 player volleyball team is an absolute joke. Also, UT almost never grants releases - why did these 4 players get releases?

Kelsey Robinson is probably the best all-around player to ever play at UT. All 4 players transferring played a ton, so playing time is not the issue. Texas just won the national championship, and Nebraska is typically a Final Four team. These programs wouldn't want any part of players who are troublemakers.

There have been other transfers (1 or 2 per year) which have been chalked up to playing time or personality issues. There's also been a revolving door of assistant coaches.

The real question is how was this handled by AD Dave Hart. There's little doubt that Joan Cronan would have been all over it. With Dave Hart's general attitude towards women's athletics, was this something UT hoped to just sweep under the rug? Is Rob Patrick being asked the tough questions that need to be answered?

Something definitely stinks...

Jenni, that was an excellent, intelligent post. Ignore any sheep who criticize you, or any of the other posts in this thread questioning the treatment of the women's programs at UTK. These loudmouths are either rednecks or budding rednecks posting from their parent s basement.

Written on David Climer: Time to give Derek Dooley some credit:

in response to orangecountyvols:

tnbigg,

That was very well said and quite accurate.

Ha, the Haters are loving on each other. Show of hands: each of you "hates" Pres Obama, right? The larger issue is you are part of an uninformed angry mob who are addicted to hate... and to being sheep.

John Adams is a tremendous writer, just too intelligent for the angry sheep. Dooley did some good things - no one wanted to succeed more than he. Kiffin was brash, but he led the Vols to two blowouts of UGA and SC. Oh, his team played very disciplined ball with few penalties. JC's ressurection was near - miraculous. But you hate them all. I guess that makes you feel strong. So, keep on hating - that's all you know how to do.

What will people say about this crowd at the News Sentinel when they are gone? Will they have as much class or will people feel less inspired?

They'll probably laugh about the strange and poorly informed comments like yours as well as those who get riled up with John Adams' columns. I guess it's all part of being a member of the Hater Crowd.

BTW, this was an excellent article on Dyer and the KNS coverage from that era.

Written on Derek Reese may redshirt due to shoulder injury:

Ease up on Derek. Let's have respect for a Vol who simply said he would like to have dinner with the President of the United States. Aside from the trolls, we are all Vols here and are Americans. With these wonderful things in common, certainly we can respect the notion of a student wanting to have dinner with the president. Let's wish him a speedy recovery and look forward to great play from Derek.

Written on Mike Strange: Lane Kiffin has moved beyond 'rookie mistakes' at Tennessee :

Hey posters,
You can remove all uncertainty of your stupidity if you need to hammer Kiffin or Strange. Kiffin's Tennessee team was the best coached since the Dickey era. The Bama game is one shining example. Same goes for the Crompton and Hardesty turnarounds. Oh yeah, there weren't too many penalties, huh? His team was woefully short on depth and he and the staff made the most of what they had. And just know that Mike Strange is simply telling it like it is. Remember that he is the writer--he actually gets paid for his thoughts and talent. You are just consuming his product, and rather poorly if you "hate" Kiffin. Yes, this is confirmation of your stupidity. Can you understand that? I thought this was far beyond your ability to comprehend. I was right. Idiots...

Written on Jake Rainey gives up 2012 track season to help mom :

Kudos to Dan Fleser for a wonderful story about a fantastic UT student athlete. Just curious, too often I read slams against our President in story comments and message boards. Sadly, IF Jake supported President Obama, some "fans" would rip him in a similar way to the attacks on Heath Shuler. Before you flame this comment, first consider how much your rage and group-think blind you. We are all Americans who support the Vols. Even with that fact, the unbridled hatred toward President Obama and his supporters is alarming.

Happy Mother's Day

Written on John Adams: Bobby Petrino proves 'coaching genius' is oxymoron :

If you are ragging on Adams then you are an idiot. Very simple. He is writing far above your level of ability to comprehend. Idiot Group Think - too much of it in America today. Great article JA.

Written on John Adams: Derrick Ansley gives Vols another Tide insider :

in response to FWBVol:

John, get your facts right. Lance Thompson was already in house when Derek Dooley was hired. Kiffin hired Thompson from Alabama.

Thompson and Jim Chaney were the two guys from Kiffin's staff that stayed at Tennessee.

You are certainly the Master of the Obvious but think you are barking up the wrong tree regarding Adams' point. You just don't like him. No problem, many other ignorant people feel the same as you. Enjoy.

Written on Kansas newspaper reporting Phillip Fulmer wants KU job:

I dislike the Pro/Anti Fulmer argument. It's boring by now. Fulmer was all-Vol and took our program to its modern day zenith. However I hated to admit that it was time for him to leave and I'm glad MH (and others) made that difficult decision. I would like to see him coach at KU and succeed. Simple.

Written on UT talks with Alabama’s Dave Hart, has not yet offered AD job:

in response to SIMSVOL:

Tennessee had one of the best ADs in the country in Hamilton - but the yahoos on this site didn't have a clue. It will be tough to find someone with Hamilton's ability to secure strong coaching talent - i.e. Pearl, Dooley - and equally important secure the level of funding that has fueled incredible sports facilites development and upgrades. Go VOLS!

Great post. Unfortunately there are a lot of stupid people who disagree. That's because they are stupid.

Written on Spokesman: Heath Shuler focused on 2012 race :

Heath was a great player--all Vol. True VFL. Folks should put politics aside and just appreciate a great Vol.

Written on David Climer: Phillip Fulmer's faults may take him out of Tennessee Vols' athletics director's race:

"The Mess" began with Coach Fulmer's inability to compete effectively against the top-tier teams of the SEC in his later years. It was sad as he had led Tennessee to such great success in the '90s. His attitude toward was based upon entitlement for his earlier success. However, getting thumped by Saban and Meyer--with the added indiginity of seeing Neyland taken over by Bama fans made it clear he needed to resign or be removed. Still, given the love many have for the man, it was going to be a challenge to remove him without hard feelings. Many Vol fans will always be indebted to MH for getting this done. Yes, Kiffin was a roll of the dice but many fans enjoyed seeing a beter-coached team the following years. Kiffin and staff performed miracles with Jon Crompton as well. Hamilton hit a home-run with Dooley. He is a great coach--you'll see. Oh, thanks Mike for hitting one out of the solar system with Bruce Pearl. You fans did have fun during his run didn't you? Too bad he brought himself down but the Fulmer-Twitter-FB crusade will continue to smear Hamilton. Well, no smearing is needed for Fulmer--he untilmately failed to compete in the SEC--even during the "SEC East" title the Vols were anniliated by UF and UA. Is that what you Fulmerites consider success? I hope not. Oh, btw, I'm glad Climer brought up the another side to this discussion, the at-times outlaw program Fulmer ran, thus earning him namesake status on the "Fulmer Cup."

Written on Phillip Fulmer says he wants to 'help my university':

Thank you Phil for what you did as a coach and player. Sorry you were forced out but it had to be done. And, I'm sure you've found out by now that your coaching services were not as desired by other schools as you may have imagined. If you want to help UT, stop orchestrating an attempt to become our AD through such ridiculous press releases written by others. Do the university and stay out of the way. We know you are bitter. Just stop the pettiness. You as AD can only hurt the university.

Written on Hamilton to get $1.335 million in UT separation agreement, offers upbeat message at resignation announcement:

Well, I've posted many times defending Mike and still do. But I have to support the University's decision and hope the powers that be select a good replacement. Just remember that Mike hired the man who not only resurrected UT basketball but took it to new heights. He didn't tell Pearl to lie to the NCAA but that action led to Mike having to step down. I give him credit for hiring Dooley and Cuonzo under difficult circumstances--I think each will be successful at UT. Finally, I thank Hamilton for standing with many boosters and fans in making the tough decision to remove a Vol legend as head coach. Fulmer did so many great things while coach but his time had passed and the fan base was fracturing. If you think the Vol fans are fractured now, then it will be orders of magnitude worse if Fulmer is brought back as AD. If you disagree then you are blind and/or stupid.

Written on Dave Serrano on UT baseball job: 'I have no comment at this time':

in response to orangepeel:

Hamilton needs to be fired first. Hamilton may be a good person but he is a horrible AD. What good coach would want to work for him.

You are your fellow haters will be so sad to see Martin, Dooley and perhaps Serrano succeed. For all of the great things he accomplished earlier in his career, it's too bad Fulmer ran the football team in the ground and reduced us to the whipping boys of UA, UF and UW (Wyoming). Things would have been different had Phil succeeded. Glad key boosters and Hamilton had the guts to make the tough decision.

Keep hating--it will be fun thinking of your misery while Hamilton. Oh, even with Kiffin it was nice to see a UT team play with purpose and great execution, with far fewer penalties than Fulmer's teams. Nice to have more competitive games with UF and UA. No matter what you say, Hamilton made a great hire with Dooley under amazingly difficult circumstances. But I guess reason won't reach you--your hate keeps you blinded. No matter. Things are improving, partly because Fulmer is gone.

Written on Mike Hamilton ready to get NCAA meeting over:

As usual, the Hamilton Haters will continue their agenda. They are still bitter that Fulmer was removed and remain in denial that he had to go. It was a tough decision no doubt.

Praise For Martin Hire: CBS basketball analyst Seth Davis, in a column for SI.com, rated Hamilton's hire of Martin as the "smartest" of the offseason.

GO VOLS !!

Body language? Lol. Man, you are really reaching on Hamilton. I'll tell you what their body language is communicating: Cuonzo and Mike are both out there investing time and energy into helping the community. Where were you? I'm proud of what these men have done. Oh, btw, Hamilton has done a great job in hiring coaches Martin and Dooley under difficult circumstances. He also make the toughest call an AD could make in firing a Tennessee coach who took us to the top. Tennessee has high expectations and even Fulmer was held accountable. I respect that Hamilton had the guts to follow through with that decision, a decision supported by many boosters and fans.

Pearl was an amazing hire--a miracle what Bruce did for our program. And, Hamilton didn't tell Bruce to lie to the NCAA. Kiffin? That was a roll of the dice which didn't work out -- except that he showed what good coaching could do with Phil's players. Crompton's turnaround was miraculous. And it was nice to compete with UF and UA on their home fields.

I could go on but will stop here. I'm just amazed how spineless it is to write pointed comments about MH in an article this positive. Hamilton has succeeded in raising money, PR, hiring and especially firing.
