>>I am sure Pat does not receive alimony--she makes more than her ex...

Isn't her ex an investment banker? If so I'm thinking he makes three times as much as she does... unless he was investing in those mortgage securities...

But I doubt if Pat would ask for alimony even so. She's not some bubble head out of California.

>>Since you asked, she won't play UConn because of illegal recruiting practices. But that's not the classy part about Pat. What gives Pat class is that she won't talk about it.

That whole thing was a debacle... on Pat's part. She "wont' talk about it," and so all the gossip mongers come out and say Geno must have done something really horrible...and what did it turn out to be? A trip to ESPN. For which UConn received a minor violation.

Having said that...Pat Summitt means a great deal to Tennessee, and after 2 back to back championships, she deserves a raise.

As more and more women get involved in sports, as the WNBA with the assistance of Candace Parker becomes more popular... all assuming the WNBA markets things properly, this could be a win-win situation for all women's basketball programs.

Just as professional basketball was not very popular until Larry Bird and Magic Johnson arrived, so the WNBA has to build itself around personalities and rivalries.... (which is of course why Pat never should have cancelled the UConn game. You don't like what he did? Beat him on the court and make him have to shake your hand and like it.)

>>Just an idea here, but wouldn't it be nice if Bruce, Pat, & Phil donated $100,000 of their fat raises to Knox county schools for teacher raises? Just a thought.

Sounds like communism to me.

What would be a better idea would be if the Teacher's Union would stop stealing money from their teachers with their so-called "dues." And if teachers would do their jobs and actually teach students what they need to know to get on in life.

>>Shoot, I didn't realize this was written by Adams until I read the posts.

His byline is right at the top of the page, under the title... where bylines normally are...

It's a nice story.

Um... here?

Seems like the Lady Vols have their spies at The Summitt...that'd be impartial journalist Maria Cornelius among others, I suppose...

On UT kept track of UConn's recruiting since 2005

>>>Call me when you get to 900 wins or 100 NCAA tournament wins. Until then, SHUT IT!

Oh, please. You think Geno cares enough about the opinion of the yapping chihuahuas here to call *you* when he hits that plateau? Surely you'll know, anyway.

The Lady Vols have lost Candace Parker and have a seriously depleted squad. I'm thinking there'll be no 9 in 09.... in fact - they'll lose four games next season!

Why is it that no one ever addresses *the* issue. Which is that Pat was and is being mealy-mouthed about this. Someone "cheats" - you play the game, beat them, make them have to shake hands with you and smile and say good game. All the while knowing they're writhing inside. A competitor doesn't take the ball and go home in a huff.

And didn't the rules about recruiting change because of the way Pat went after a certain recruit several years ago?

>>>You can read ad nausem about the Huskettes or whatever they're called.

They're called the Huskies.

>>>ESPN WISHES she would not play Sunday.

Stupid remark. ESPN wants Huskies vs Tennessee in the final, because that would send ratings skyrocketing. The Huskies want Tennessee in the finals, so they can whip their butts. And you can bet the Tennessee ladies would also like to see the Huskies.

And, yes, Geno would love to see Tennessee in the Final game. He's a competitor and wants to beat her team on the court, make her shake his hand and like it. Just the way Pat Summitt should have felt about it - you don't like Geno - beat his team on the court and make him have to shake your hand and say "Good game." That's the mark of a competitor.

>>>She will do what she says. Just ask big Gino...

If Pat cancels the contract with Duke...and she won't play UConn anymore for reasons which she won't say... bang goes her RPI and SOS...

The way to shut up Duke's fans is to beat them on their floor, not run away and say "they're to mean."

More to the point - Pat should have contacted McCallie privately and asked her to talk to the Cameron Crazies, instead of making it a "fait accompli." I doubt if McCallie appreciated that.

>>who cares...........how much money did that trip cost the football and mens basketball teams?

Russ, the Lady Vols make a profit. Didn't cost the men's side anything.

>>>The foul totals were just completely out of line.

Tell that to Sylvia Hatchell.
