Written on How many wins will the Vols have this season?:

UT will win somewhere between 0 and 14 games. They will have to outscore teams to win. Or if the defense can hold down the opponent to less than what UT scores and keep the special teams in check they should win those games. But they won't make a bowl unless they can get 6 wins.

Written on John Adams: Phillip Fulmer needs to look in a mirror before assessing blame:

in response to Sunshine27:

Thank you John Adams!
Perfectly said!! I've said from day 1 Fulmer had his day, but our digression falls in his lap...100%. He quit, got lazy, got fat, felt because he had a few good years that the kids would come to him...no chance. He's not that big of a personality to carry any program. He and many of his assistants were the laughing stocks of college football because of their girth. He was also guilty of not paying his coaches worth a damn....no recruiting means no success...thanks again Fulmer. We are where we are because YOU quit.

You are a moron. Laughing stock because of their girth? Last time I looked John Chavis is the same size.....nobody's laughing at him are they?

I can not believe that Coach Butch Jones is a part of this, if he is then he has lost my support and needs a fan "attitude adjustment"...a boot in the rear end and a seat on the next stage coach back to Cincinnati.

Did you have this same reaction when the U.S. military changed the uniforms to beige and camouflage?

Written on Vols new alternative football uniform adds a 'smokey' shade of gray:

Another reason this is good is that as a fan you can maybe wear a jacket or shirt that is gray highlighted with orange and not be seen from a mile away on the street.

Written on Vols new alternative football uniform adds a 'smokey' shade of gray:

in response to angusparvo#215458:

I'm amazed that the uniform is a major concern for recruits.

What? Were you ever 18-19 years old? These kids are concerned about girls watching them, places to hang out on or around campus, what tv says about them, uniforms, etc. These aren't 40 year old adults making decisions.

Written on Vols new alternative football uniform adds a 'smokey' shade of gray:

The whole point is....it's time to mix it up. Do something different. Have fun. Once we are back on track winning...go back to orange and white only because the players will be coming for the Butch Jones coaching, etc. Just like now players play for Saban.

Written on Fulmer, Bowden, players to relive Vols' Fiesta Bowl win over Florida State:

in response to CoverOrange:

Y'all might have forgotten that Outzen was the third stringer and that the strength of FSU was their defense just as ours was. So probably the only difference would have been that Goodrich doesn't snare that pick 6. Rookie mistake by the QB.

It was 23-9 late in the game and UT fumbled inside the FSU 10. If not for that it might have been a blowout!

I'm a Tn fan and I don't spend my time on other team's sites nor does anyone else I know. That just proves that they are either so pathetic that they want to just harrass and rub it in that their team is better (which if their team is KY then-there's obviously nothing to talk about)or they are really Tn fans. If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, it's a duck.

Also I'll bet you were a delusional Doolaidist who was all jacked up about Coach's character.

My advice is to learn about the game of College Football and accept reality....UT is in pitiful shape and will be extremely lucky to win 1 or 2 SEC games next year. Just like last year.

Just Saying

Why are you such a negative TN fan ? You know UT will be back to the top soon. Be patient.

in response to TheViper:

I've been telling people that for over a year now, they say no way, well Tony quit his job, Bruce will be able to coach August 2014 and he will be I think replacing Martin, I think that was the deal all lone, the wheels are already in motion and the one's knocking the ideal of this happening you will be right there cheering him and the team on. If you chose not keep your seats someone else will gladly take them.

Last time I heard "the wheels are already in motion" was when Gruden was a done deal.

Written on Mike Strange: In many ways, things seem same after Cunozo Martin's second season :

in response to TheFuj:

Seems to be going the same road as Dooley. Lot of talk, but not any progress. First year no big wins and lost 2nd round of the little tournament. Dooley had no big wins and lost in a little bowl. Second year, had 1 big win, or maybe two (MO,FL both at home), and lost in FIRST round of little tournament. Dooley had no big wins and did not make a bowl.
Now, the third year we expect to make the big tournament and would to contend for SEC championship. No reason not to. Return experienced players and now two years of his recruits.
Watching these games last two days. You definitely see the Vols did not belong in the big dance. Free throw shooting to turnovers and we probably would have been blown out.
Would love to see Martin more intense in the games. Show some emotion and fire. Work the officials. It is part of the game.

(1)You left out a Wichita St win (which is proving to be a really good win).(2) which team on the schedule did UT need to beat to qualify as a big win for you? (3)Why would you think UT would get "blown out" since they were in 95% of games this yr? (4) Did you ever see John Wooden coach? I've talked with him about his famous Pyramid of Success-and how he used it in coaching. He said he did all of his coaching in practice and it was up to his players to perform in games. He never was"intense" and stalked the sideline during the games showing "emotion". There's obviously different ways to be successful.

Written on Mike Strange: In many ways, things seem same after Cunozo Martin's second season :

Martin would be wise to take a page from Pearl and start cheating like mad to get players to Tennessee. Otherwise he will be fired.

Written on Cuonzo Martin baffled by Vols' NCAA tournament snub:

in response to The1:

NIT is where TN can be competitive right now....what good does a 1st round beat down in the NCAA tourney do?

What makes you think UT wouldn't do well in the NCAA tourney? They beat 3 seeded Fla, beat Mizzou, lost by 1 to a 2 seed G'town, beat 9 seeded Wichita St. They should have been a 12 seed playing a 5. I liked their chances to do well this year because of the overall weakness of the field. This is the year a lower seed could win it.

With your (never worn a jock in your life) logic..all these teams "choked" TN, Bama, Maryland, So. Miss, Oklahoma, Georgetown, Virginia, and oh ...Kentucky. FIRE CALIPARI !!! Wow looks like the unemployment rate is going up more. And when 34 teams are one and done this week....lots of chokers and lots of job openings.

Written on Tennessee left in the hands of the committee, but Cuonzo Martin thinks his team deserves to be in:

in response to SevenT:

If one thinks Tennessee is in you are living in Homerville and not the real world.

Florida, Ole Miss, Missouri, Alabama and possibly Kentucky.....Kentucky could very easily be left behind due to their poor showing in the tournament.

Tennessee?? forget it be happy with the NIT

Uh...the reason they would be left out is because they are not very good. Tennessee loses the player they were counting on the most at the start of the year and wins 20 games. Ky loses a player and the other Mcdonald's "All Americans" can't seem to hang. A 30 point loss to UT is one thing but losing to a below average Vandy team by 20 is pathetic. I think they have one or two wins that are considered "big" this year.

Written on Vols lose to Alabama, will play the waiting game for NCAA tournament:

in response to govols26:

Said it before and I'll say it again, this team only plays well when they are winning. As soon as the other team makes a run or our players start off with cold shooting, they just seem to quit and there is no leadership- no one that wants to take the ball and get a bucket when one is needed badly. That and their coach shows zero emotion during the game to get them fired up... Martin is a good guy and a decent coach but I just don't see him ever taking this team back to the heights Pearl had it. They will be average, but we all know that this program can do better than that.

No emotion = bad coach ? Don't remember John Wooden ranting an raving.

Written on Vols lose to Alabama, will play the waiting game for NCAA tournament:

in response to orangecountyvols:

Northwest,

You are correct. Trouble with them is this......you never know their attitude when they show up. If it's the NIT, I would hope they don't show up like "we're the best in this tournament" and act disinterested.

Everyone is going to be disappointed, even in the big dance..........except for the ones cutting down the nets. A loss is out there waiting for everyone else.

Oh, a quick comment to the kid, Seven teeth.
Things guaranteed are: death, taxes, and Tennessee drubbing the bandwagon kid's adopted team by 30 points..

Dumbest logic ever. Lots of teams that will make the field have looked bad lately or will look bad in their tourneys at some point. So do you not choose any of them? Go with 54 teams? If Bama loses tomorrow-their top 50 wins don"t match up with UT's.

Stokes plays basketball and doesn't know the value of rebounding? Unbelievable.

If you've ever coached you know that many many many high school players don't value rebounding-or any other fundamentals. Such as boxing out, passing to the cradle position, following your shot, filling lanes, getting the ball to the middle on breaks and stalling. All they want to do is dunk or shoot threes.

Written on Tennessee opens spring football with rapid adjustment to Butch Jones' style:

I get on this site maybe 3 times a week for about 10-15 minutes each time and these same people are on here that seem to be Florida fans and evidently Kentucky fans. That's too big of a coincidence so I'm guessing they are on here every day for hours. So if they are fans of other schools surely they are also getting on their own school's sites right? Which means they must do nothing other than troll around on websites all day. That's sad.

Written on Vols get needed win at Auburn, 82-75:

in response to Ironcity:

With both teams side by side and each looking at a twelve seed, I am afraid if I was on the committee I would take the team (Ole Miss)that beat the other team twice. Especially if they have a better conference record as well. I really think UT has some work to do to get in. I would feel better if we won the next one and had a strong showing at the tourney or at least beat Ole Miss in the tourney.

obviously TN needs to win the next one-Missouri. Thats a no brainer. It will come down to about 3-4 open spots with 8-9 teams to pick from. there's no way to compare all of them head to head.

Written on Vols get needed win at Auburn, 82-75:

in response to Ironcity:

Any win is a good win this time of year. You know Mcraes arrived when he can look lousy and score 20. Really an issue with Mcbee and Moore those two guy are giving us nothing right now. Puts a lot of pressure on the bug three. I really don't think this team is NCAA worthy but with the expanded field who knows. Not sure how you can put us in of Ole Miss if they beat us twice. Lets beat Missouri and win at least one at the tourney and I think we are in.

head to head doesnt matter. the committee doesn't choose a certain team over another based on their head to head matchups. c'mon man. if that was the case KY gets in over Missouri, etc etc.

Must've been talking about football. No SEC team other than UF will make it past the 3rd round in the tourney.

That's the thing about college basketball. Any team can win a tournament by stringing together 6 wins. Probably 40%-50% of the time the best team doesn't win it. Just got to get in. The top 11 teams in the SEC could easily win the conference tourney.

Written on Just McRae can't save the day for UT against Georgia, 78-68:

Thanks for setting me straight. I apologize. What was I thinking. UT after many years of irrelevance finally figures it out and hires a good coach (Pearl) then hires a mid-major with no great level of success to replace him, and expects to continue going to the dance year after year? Two years and counting... But no, you're right. How long should I wait before I consider it a long time. 3,4,5,6?? Let me know so that after I have sat out these next few plays I can come back and repost. Thanks again for letting me know im an idiot. You are the ultimate!

Your the one that said UT hasn't been relevant in a LONG TIME. My point is they have been relevant as you now say. You sound like Obama who says one thing and then turns around and says another. Why do you and others always put the announcers of a game in a position of authority or knowledge? As if they are the standard for knowing whats going on. Who cares what they think? Those guys were clueless today. They missed calls that were made, made incorrect statistical statements, and don't seem to know the rules.
