I've been telling people that for over a year now, they say no way, well Tony quit his job, Bruce will be able to coach August 2014 and he will be I think replacing Martin, I think that was the deal all lone, the wheels are already in motion and the one's knocking the ideal of this happening you will be right there cheering him and the team on. Seems to be going the same road as Dooley. Lot of talk, but not any progress. First year no big wins and lost 2nd round of the little tournament. Dooley had no big wins and lost in a little bowl. Second year, had 1 big win, or maybe two (MO,FL both at home), and lost in FIRST round of little tournament. Dooley had no big wins and did not make a bowl.
Now, the third year we expect to make the big tournament and would to contend for SEC championship. No reason not to. Return experienced players and now two years of his recruits.
Watching these games last two days. You definitely see the Vols did not belong in the big dance. Free throw shooting to turnovers and we probably would have been blown out.
Would love to see Martin more intense in the games. Show some emotion and fire. Work the officials. It is part of the game.

(3)Why would you think UT would get "blown out" since they were in 95% of games this yr? (4) Did you ever see John Wooden coach? I've talked with him about his famous Pyramid of Success-and how he used it in coaching. He said he did all of his coaching in practice and it was up to his players to perform in games. He never was"intense" and stalked the sideline during the games showing "emotion". There's obviously different ways to be successful.

What makes you think UT wouldn't do well in the NCAA tourney? They beat 3 seeded Fla, beat Mizzou, lost by 1 to a 2 seed G'town, beat 9 seeded Wichita St. They should have been a 12 seed playing a 5. I liked their chances to do well this year because of the overall weakness of the field. This is the year a lower seed could win it.

Talk all day about the Bama game but if UT makes an inbound pass to a wide open Kenny Hall for a dunk against G'Town we are talking seeding. Can't remember UT scoring off a timeout in the CCM era.

You never know how things would have played out but I said when we lost that game it might bite us. If we win there and things play out the same as they did we're in easily.

Uh...the reason they would be left out is because they are not very good. Tennessee loses the player they were counting on the most at the start of the year and wins 20 games. Ky loses a player and the other Mcdonald's "All Americans" can't seem to hang. A 30 point loss to UT is one thing but losing to a below average Vandy team by 20 is pathetic. I think they have one or two wins that are considered "big" this year.

Said it before and I'll say it again, this team only plays well when they are winning. As soon as the other team makes a run or our players start off with cold shooting, they just seem to quit and there is no leadership- no one that wants to take the ball and get a bucket when one is needed badly. That and their coach shows zero emotion during the game to get them fired up... Martin is a good guy and a decent coach but I just don't see him ever taking this team back to the heights Pearl had it. They will be average, but we all know that this program can do better than that.

You are correct. Trouble with them is this......you never know their attitude when they show up. If it's the NIT, I would hope they don't show up like "we're the best in this tournament" and act disinterested.

Everyone is going to be disappointed, even in the big dance..........except for the ones cutting down the nets. A loss is out there waiting for everyone else.

If you've ever coached you know that many many many high school players don't value rebounding-or any other fundamentals. That's the thing about college basketball. Any team can win a tournament by stringing together 6 wins. Probably 40%-50% of the time the best team doesn't win it. Just got to get in. The top 11 teams in the SEC could easily win the conference tourney.

Your the one that said UT hasn't been relevant in a LONG TIME. My point is they have been relevant as you now say. You sound like Obama who says one thing and then turns around and says another. Pearl (who came from a MID-MAJOR program) was great but he messed up. Martin may turn out to be good we'll see.
