Written on John Adams: Butch Jones hasn't had enough time to change UT's losing ways:

in response to DawgDayAfternoon:

Of course, Adams is spot on! The only bone to pick is that instead of 5-7 there's a 50/50 chance it will be 4-8. I do, however, enjoy reading the delusions of Vol fans, who are now permanently relegated to the East cellar, while the Dawgs continue their era of dominance over the Big Orange. Or is it the Big Gray.

Roar For Four!

I think you should change your mascot to the bridesmaid...considering that's what UGA has always been and always will be. Second rate underachievers.

5-7 finish my ***..........NO WAY. 7-5 maybe 8-4.....take that to the bank.

I agree. A minimum of 7 wins is fairly obvious to the most average prognosticator. 8 or 9 would be a super. Over that? Double Jones' annual contract.

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

in response to mocsandvolsfan:

Read it again aand read it all. I'm every bit as connected to UT as you are. You gave what 4 years?

My point was if you could read was that you can be a fan of UT without being a grad. It wasn't that hard to figure out. You're "best friend" actually did give you a connection to UTC IF you became a fan. Look up the word fan. It's not just something that blows wind. But we do that too I guess.
And Martin's name has little to do with this argument to me. I don't care especially what his name is. I thought this was about his coaching. Now that's a subject that's a little bit more important and worth the discussion we've been having.

Too serious. These are simply sports. Games. It doesn't really matter...does it? C'mon. Ok, you're a Tennessee fan...nuff said. Just don't make ridiculous comments to my (probably) ridiculous comments and keep it all in perspective.

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE:

Yes, i'll admit that i cut up and post zany remarks (for comic relief). However, you or no one can deny my love for the University of Tennessee. I wasn't recruited by Johnny Majors (surprised aren't you) instead i ended up at Memphis State. I didn't allow a coaching decision to become a personal issue. It's time to separate our personal ties from reality and quit deflecting anger toward others. I actually agree with many of the post you submit, but you never recognize any of those qualities and rather argue when i don't agree with you. That sounds like a person really wanting to argue than talk sports. BTW, I'm a huge Dallas Cowboy fan since 1966, ironically the same year I became a UT backer. I'll never quit supporting my teams, EVER!

Thank you for your honesty and reasonable response. I am blunt and am hardwired to seek out for weaknesses that can be improved on, so I come off negative. Sorry. We can get along respectfully. My apologies.

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

in response to mocsandvolsfan:

I watched UT win the NC on TV with my Dad. He sighed when it was over and seemed very content that UT had won. He was a Georgia transplant like me that'd learned to love and appreciate the UT sports programs. My brother is a UT grad. My sister has a masters from UT. I have numerous friends that are associated with UT.

After the NC game I watched with my Dad he passed away a couple of weeks later. The game was the last I saw him alive. So don't tell me I have no ties junior!

When in college at UTC I kept a UT football mug on a shelf in my apt. I secretly pulled for UT when they came to break in the new Mckenzie arena.

None of this makes me a particularly better fan than so many fans. I'm not in competition with you or anyone else for fan of the year.

I just think you made an unreasonable comment about Martin!

So you went to UTC...ok. You still didn't go to UTK. Not the same place.

My best friend was UTC's kicker from 89-92 (look it up and you can probably figure out where my hometown is.) That in no way gives me any connection to UTC. None. So what's your point?

Furthermore, anyone who doesn't think Coach Martin has a funny - and made-up - first name has no mental ability. It's bizarre and unusual. I was making light of it which was apparently lost on some of the obsessive "fans" 'round here.

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

in response to mocsandvolsfan:

lovebirds? really? That's your adult response?
I am far older than you unless you graduated as an older person. Bur your lack of maturity is obvious regardless of your age. At least in the post you made that started this. However I suggest you don't take my retorts too seriously because this IS just a blog where all sorts of comments are made by our immaturiy. Mine too. It can be fun or it can be frustrating. I get frustrated when people attack the coaches or players without any real reasons stated...like your post above.

You obviously have some issue with Martin besides his coaching or lack of coaching. Why attack him? You can dislike what he does without all the harshness. I might disagree but I would respect your comments more.imho.

If you just want to argue I guess I can do that too.

With all due respect, I am entitled to my opinion. Furthermore, I don't have to provide reasons for disliking Martin..as I really don't dislike the man, I just like Pearl a whole lot more! Regardless of petty NCAA nonsense.

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE:

Typical retort from someone that harbors ill will about past events. If you really graduated in 92, you should have grown up by now, little man.

Have you read some of the adolescent stupidity you post here ALL THE TIME? You attack everyone. Anyone who has any opinion different from your inbred worldview gets a smart aleck reply. Me, grow up? Find an NFL team...really, it better suits you.

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

...unless of course you're the same poster, which is likely. Most "fans" of college teams have no ends to their stupidity. You two are no different than your garden variety bammer; just fans. Nothing more. No ties to the university other than the coincidence that you own a T-Shirt and decided UT was "your team".

The NFL migh suit you guys a little better...it's more...ugh...blue collar? You can just pick a team - any team - AND act as moronic as you wish!

Enjoy...

Written on John Adams: Schools should be waiting in line to hire Bruce Pearl:

in response to movol77:

Chalk that up as a vote for the cheater that cost UT three years and million$.

Yes. You may.

As for his transgressions, they were insignificant and trivial compared with the punishment given. If we'd had strong leadership in the offices of the president and the AD, we could have pushed the NCAA wimps back into their sanctimonious ivory tower and told them to shove it.

Written on John Adams: Phillip Fulmer needs to look in a mirror before assessing blame:

For better or worse, a true article with the evidence to back it up, and although there's plenty of blame to go around, a few parties deserve more than others.

I believe the administration became so unstable and transient that it placed all athletic departments on shaky ground for going on a decade.

Coach Fulmer lost his mojo with recruits and winning and couldn't find quality assistants with a map and a compass.

Hamilton's hiring of Kiffin and Dooley amounted to dereliction of duty on his part. He was a mere puppet, and a dumb one at that.

Kiffin practically invited the death penalty on us knowing full well this wasn't his place and was probably given hints of Carrol's plans to jump to the NFL months in advance.

Finally we have Dooley, possibly the most incompetent head coach in the history of UT, if not the SEC. A baffoon, an embarrassment, and...worst of all...a lawyer. Dear God.

Written on QB Josh Dobbs garners oohs and ahhs in Vols' open practice:

in response to DawgDayAfternoon:

Dawg Day had representatives there and received a report. The only people who believe there were 39,000 in attendance are people who actually believe any of these 4 can play quarterback in the SEC. Also, it would seem that Vol fans only have faith in Butchie Boy when it's a free lunch; since Dawg fans are now buying up all the single game tickets for Butchie's and your fourth straight comeuppance October 5th. The stands will be red, cheering as those glorious Silver Britches blow past the Bumstead Grays!

I try not to respond to someone so worthless that they puruse other teams websites every day to post insults...but...so much for tradition.

Georgia is the perennial second fiddle. UGA has finished behind UT and Florida so many times I don't know where we end and they begin. Always a strong recruiting class, yet manage to do less with more, every single year.

I recall several SEC teams capturing the BCS Crown - UT, AU, UA, UF, and LSU...but no UGA. So, that being said, when you become a big boy and have the hardware to backup your horsesh:t then and only then can you talk trash. For now, you and your second rate football team can have a nice big cup of STFU...

Written on Picture of Alabama commitment holding wads of cash goes viral:

This kid's a lunatic. He committed to Alabama. Then to Auburn. Then got an Auburn tattoo to prove his allegiance. Then he committed to Alabama again.

The fact that Saban accepted his commitment, twice, proves his standards are slipping. Happens everytime. You begin to accept 5*s because they're 5*s, not because they are premium student athletes. Then your program goes to $^!#. It's the natural cycle of college football. It's unavoidable.

http://www.beyondusports.com/tennesse...

These would never happen because they're Nike concepts, but I think they look pretty sweet none the less.

With all due respect, that is THE most heinous uniform I've ever seen. Bar none.

Also, these aren't "Nike Concepts", it's homemade by some knucklehead with graphic design software. Besides, something tells me that Nike designers wouldn't release helmets with "VOLS" spelled backwards.

Written on Video game offers possible preview of new Tennessee football uniforms:

Over the last 120 years our uniforms have evolved the same as everyone elses, whether you're talking football, baseball or any other sport.

UT is by no means Oregon - on the cutting edge of uniform design - that's not our style, although we should improve upon our basic design every so often. Occasional small alterations help UT remain consistent with the times and avoid becoming a dinosaur. Those smaller numbers, subtle graphics, and new jersey materials are uniform evolution.

Tradition is important but so is appearance.

Written on Butch Jones doing ESPN interview 'carwash' on Tuesday:

in response to CrankE:

ESPN got almost everything they wanted out of the SEC media days.

They got Johnny Football and competing storylines on why he was sent home from the Manning camp, the perpetual Alabama worship that happens in Vacuumtown, Les Miles doesn't want to play UF every single year, schools from states that start with the letter "M", Franklin and the Vandy 4, Muschamp taking aim at Meyer, Bielema and Malzahn's disagreement, Steve Stipend at SC, and Stoops (not Bob) at Kentucky.

What they didn't get is a headline from Tennessee's head coach that puts him into that same bag of cats with the rest of his peers and reinforces their "pinata" meme around Tennessee.

I'm of the opinion that the less access ESPN has to UT, the less that UT talks with ESPN, the better it will be for UT. I think that Butch Jones will do just fine though.

So true...however, I see Coach Jones handling himself well; regardless of the interviewer.

Remember, ESPN loves Bruce Pearl and with Butch's charisma and style I can't imagine him not following suit.

Thank heavens we got us a real special football coach this time around, huh?!

Just a thought, The NCAA could play this tournament anywhere. Soooooo why do they want to play it in Oklahoma in the middle of tornado season???? This just tells me the lives of the players and fans are nearly as important to the NCAA as the $$$$$. Because they make bucks, simple. Hopefully the Jerks that make these decisions will be caught outside during a tornado.

I don't believe anyone else is getting your point, but I agree completely.

Nothing against Oklahoma, but there's gotta be a more conducive venue for kinder, gentler weather this time of year. The midwest is ground zero for dangerous late spring/early summer weather which not only risks game rain-outs, but gambles with people's lives - evidence by yesterday's events.

Selena Roberts was the first "reporter" to throw Duke University and members of their lacrosse team under the bus with accusations of an alledged rape a black stripper, who happened to be a pathological liar. She further alleged racism and attempted to destroy the lives of several innocent white kids. Later, as everyone knows, the ho-in-question recanted and the slimeball DA was disbarred. Mrs. Roberts however continues to perform investigative journalism without any repurcussions.

I say all this as a reminder of exactly WHO is writing these accusations and of their shady past, which was quickly forgotten. Incidently, her amazing revelations have been batted around the talk radio and internet circuits for years now; this is not new news.

Exactly. Martin is not the answer...never was.
