Your passing game is going to be your undoing this year. Teams will overload the box and choke your offense. Your defense has a long way to go to be anywhere close to decent. People who think this is a bowl team really don't understand football.

I can appreciate this guy. He doesn't disguise himself and seems to at least attempt to use logic, although such a detailed prediction this early is ridiculous. At least he isn't talking smack like the other trolling fans of other teams.

Players returned leaner, stronger, faster with focused attitudes. Grades up. Great citizens. Coaches dialed in on so many fronts it would take a week to list. Freshmen in the mix. Seniors loving the coach. By some accounts, the #1 recruiting class in the nation, loaded with legacies. Lettermen standing 10 deep in support of Coach Jones, statewide fan base absolutely frothing at the mouth with excitement.....

I appreciate your love for the big guy and he did great things, but....
Fulmer was 5-12 vs. Florida in his 17 seasons including a 59-20 blowout in 2007 and another 30-6 blowout in Knoxville in 2008, his last one. THAT IS WHY HE GOT FIRED. Everyone always seems to forget that. Have we been able to beat Florida (or anyone else) since then? NO, but most people thought that a change was needed. Also, if he is such a great coach, why isn't he still coaching? Maybe even Fulmer thought a change was needed.

Side note: He was 2-4 vs Saban, 1-2 vs. Miles, and 0-4 vs. Meyer. The writing was on the wall.

Written on Coaches feud over impact of fast-paced offenses on players:

in response to Olddogsrule:

But we do care about the athletes right? Especially their bodies and their brains?
-------------------------
From the article:

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/coll...

"For us the main thing is, 10 percent of kids will get concussions, but 50 percent will show changes in the way their brain behaves that is almost equivalent," said Nauman. "I'm not worried just about the defense, I'm worried about the linemen on both sides that might take 70 hits in a game. We're looking at somewhere between 60 to 90 hits to the head per week is all you want to take."
Researchers have consistently found that it's not just the number of hits that contribute to brain trauma, but the magnitude of those hits. That's why all those who were interviewed for this story stressed the risk that comes with fatigue-induced breakdowns in technique. A player who does exactly what he's been taught by his coaches -- blocking with hands, form-tackling -- should minimize the number of high-impact hits he sustains to the head.
However, linebackers and defensive backs worn down from chasing receivers all over the field are more inclined to lunge with their head. Exhausted linemen may default to a head-on bull rush rather than using their hands. "We would anticipate these issues become more problematic the more fatigued you are," said Talavage.

----------------------------
We've added and/or increased penalties for roughing the passer, roughing the kicker, spearing, and etc. Big man dehydration and fatigue obviously contribute to poorer execution. Studies have shown defense can be more fatiguing than offense. However, when severely fatigued, both sides are more prone to concussions, due to the sheer number of increased plays throughout the year. Some of these will have severe consequences. No, we shouldn't consider the young men who come to play for Tennessee as fodder to the football game. If research indicates a necessity for a rule to allow replacement, so be it. Our athletes brains are more important than the W-L column any day of the year.

Good point. I like your post.

We UT fans have Wiedmer, Climer, and Adams all working to belittle UT Sports. I would think that each of the guys mentioned cost us at least one 4 or 5-tar recruit per year. If a similar writer in Ohio would belittle Ohio State, the Dispatch would have them reassigned in Shreveport, Johnson City, and Corbin, Ky. 43 yard average???? There is a 13-year old in Fort Blackmore, Va. that kicks the football 45 to 50 yards...and does it bare-footed. He reached 6-foot tall in March of this year. He weighs 172 pounds and is growing like a weed. He is right-footed but can kick it just about as far with his left foot. His favorite food is buttered corn with biscuits and molasses. His daddy owns a junk yard, when I was there back in April, I watched him leap over a 1959 Rambler Station Wagon. His mother said he makes straight A's in school. He told me he wanted to become an artist and paint mountain landscapes, but was also interested in being a designer of women's clothing. This kid has naturally curly, fire red hair and looks like Steve McQueen. If he decides to play football this fall, he will be a good one. I can't reveal his name, but when you ever hear it, you just know he has to play football.

This is a weird comment. You could be telling the truth, idk, but it sounds like you made it up. I could say, " I live in Fort Blackmore and have never heard of this kid," and totally discredit you. Odd. Why can't you give his name or post a link to an article about him? Colleges recruit 8th graders now so if this kid's so unbelievable surely there is some information out there about him. Slightly scewed statistics considering the popularity of leaving college early for the NBA among men's basketball players. That's not really existant among female basketball players. The WNBA is not as appealling to the women, they would rather get a degree a have a long career in something else.

But it isn't the same job. Do you make more money waiting tables at Red Lobster or the local romantic hot spot?

Supply and demand. Higher demand curve assuming equal supply will dictate higher prices. I would be shocked if you look around the country and the men's trainers don't make more than the women's.

This has nothing to do with the trainers being a man or a woman. It has to do with the demand for their respective positions.

Your example is two different locations, like UA trainers may make more than UT trainers. If a male waiter working at Red Lobster makes more per hour (base pay, no tips) with the same experience and aptitude as a female waitress at Red Lobster, then there could be an arguement for sexual discrimination. It has nothing to do with supply and demand, it's not accross the entire job market, it's the situation at a specific location, UT.. I don't understand your point of view. There are women trainers that work in men's sports.

Written on Parallel lines in two lawsuits against Tennessee:

If 4 different women call foul, then more than likely there is some validity to it. I can't believe some of the comments on here. There must be a lot of old men on here with 50's mindsets.
