Written on Alabama QB McCarron to return for senior year:

him vs bray who would you rather have? Good idea for a poll.

Written on Butch Jones, Vols' Twitter feeds popular:

Remarks were funny. Thanks for the mid day laugh.

Written on Tee Martin turns down Tennessee homecoming, will stay at Southern Cal :

in response to PureOrange:

Scary! Did he not realize he had made a commitment to those players BEFORE he hoped on the plane for a FREE trip to UT, and to either make a fool of himself or UT?

It wasn't like he came in and found out Coach Jones wanted to talk to him about a job. He said he had talked to Coach Jones a couple of days before he came.

Does not make Tee look good at all. Actually makes him seem to be a very good fit at usc with Kiffin and wild-man.

Kinda glad he did turn it down though because sounds like he has some issues.

I picked up on that too. A free trip to Knoxville. Oh well

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

in response to RoyaltyVol:

It's not Harts fault Strong and Gruden didn't come to UT! Both were offered big money, just face it UT isn't as attractive of a job as it once was. I trust Hart more than I would've Hamilton. Be patient and give him some time. Some of you have been bashing Hart even before there was anything to bash him about. I think we're lucky to have him, just give him time to prove himself.

clock is ticking

Written on Polls: Are you confident in Dave Hart? Should UT re-hire Phillip Fulmer?:

No and yes. And in three years payton is oc and head coach in waiting

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

in response to philgreen5#410561:

We had two guys play us for huge raises, its business. This is still a proud program and we will find someone who wants to wear the 'T'. VFL...GBO

They played the schools they coach. Again as bad as Doolittle was he could have beat either team. Think about it, and you really can know sit back and relax.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

in response to sticknmove15:

Hall of Fame means he was good in the PAST. Losers live in the past. Football is a different game now than it was in the mid to late 90's, and if you don't see that, then you probably have no clue about football.

A different game? WTF are you talking about. Yeh different kids too.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

Was a the BB game last night in C'vill, va. There 20% ut fans there. Who would not want to coach for ut. This clown is not worth it, lets move on.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

in response to sticknmove15:

It's 2012. You may play for Phil Fulmer, but no 17 or 18 year old high school athlete would.

Why wouldn't someone play for him. I just read he was put in the hall of fame. Oh! I forgot kids these days do not read.

Written on Charlie Strong: "Toughest decision I've had to make" to turn down UT:

I did not like this choice anyway. Stay at louisville. Our team this year would have kick there you fn know what.

Written on Reports: UT has sights set on Charlie Strong; decision could come as early as Wednesday :

in response to Danvignau:

I hope things have changed in Knoxville. We lost Wade Houston because of racism at Cherokee Country Club. Will Strong be allowed in this White Gentleman's Club? Is Martin a member?

DanV

maybe we lost houston because he did not win

Written on ESPN report says Charlie Strong is top candidate for Tennessee head football coach:

in response to DalTexVol:

"When they see what he (Strong) can do, you're probably going to have a lot of people disappointed they didn't hire him sooner." - Tony Dungy, Dec 9, 2009

wow

Written on Tennessee's search: Is it down to Mike Gundy and Charlie Strong?:

I an not excited about these two choices, but it is still an upgrade from Dooley.

Written on Agent says Gruden never had interest in Vols' job, calls reports "fantasy":

The media is a joke. Obviously someone is not telling the truth. Just maybe someone is.

Written on Monte Kiffin resigning after USC's dismal defensive showing:

in response to CrankE:

Just thought of another angle here.

Perhaps the effect of the NCAA sanctions is starting to be felt. If that's so, then it's going to get worse, not better for USC-almost without regard to who they hire and daddy is leaving at the right time leaving baby K holding the bag for the future.

IDK look at their recruiting class.

Written on Gruden tells Tennessee no thanks:

in response to DwayneElizondoMountainDewHerbertCamacho:

Dave Hart...pay the man's staff. Gruden in the living room, a top-flight staff calling plays on gameday and developing players, players will recruit themselves.

Hart needs to look at this as an investment.

no question about it. 25000 empty seats is mucho

Written on John Adams: Next coach will realize UT doesn't have speed to catch up :

in response to honesthoward:

Our lack of speed on defense was first apparent when Burton ran that 80 yarder in the Fla game. When a team's QB can run past your entire secondary, and nobody was even closing ground on him, you've got speed issues.

Or you have no heart

Written on John Adams: Next coach will realize UT doesn't have speed to catch up :

The lack of speed on the UT defense was pretty obvious. But the speed or lack of hurt us the most at the LB position. And DB position. We were slow.

Written on Power player: Heath Shuler to work for Duke Energy:

Heath was as good in the NFL as he was in congress.

Written on Stephen Hargis: Jon Gruden's name only one creating unified buzz for UT:

in response to Debt:

Yup, exactly what UT needs, a head coach with a 54% win ratio. How awesome is that! I guess its a bowl game every year though..

Just ignorant. The NFL is not the same. Do you know that all the teams have really good players and you are not starting the season with four certain wins. Look at every contender in ncaaf they start the season knowing they have only 3 or 4 tough games. Come on all ready.

Written on Mike Strange: Justin Worley awaits coaching decision and Tyler Bray's decision :

I not going to do bashing like some do. Bray will be an nfl quarterback. However, he could be making a mistake if he leaves early. Patterson will be an nfl player, but needs a year to learn how to play football. Hunter is playing worried about his knee and I believe he has a child. He should maybe just take his shot in the nfl.

Written on Reports: Arkansas has made an offer to Jon Gruden:

in response to DeltaCharlie3:

Before the season, you had UF not making a bowl game. After we spanked UT, you said UF would lose 5 games. You said Muschamp would be on the hot seat at season's end.

Instead, Muschamp is one win and one upset away from playing for the NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP. He's already won ten games and he's doing it with an elite defense and great special teams. The rest of the SEC is in serious trouble once he gets a few more big play recruits on offense, heck, most teams are in serious trouble even if he never gets an offense.

Muschamp is the man!!!!! We love him in Gainesville, so glad he told UT to pound sand a few years ago.

More than likely one game a player will fumble a punt and Muscrat's fat round red face will explode.

Written on John Adams: Tennessee still a top-20 job ... especially if the price is right :

in response to bigorangesux:

Of course it is; that's why Dooley took it (when no one else would) and is leaving with a $5million parting gift.

Very simple, we were not willing to pay the price back than, but we will have to this time. If we do not go big we will be in for a long struggle. Home run or who cares. A bad hire will make us a Miami.

Written on Reports: Arkansas has made an offer to Jon Gruden:

Now we are against Gruden coaching because Arky offered first. Come on he would be a great hire. These sites are getting dumb.

Written on Cutcliffe says he's staying at Duke in 2013:

Please stay at Duke. Please

Written on Tennessee freshman cornerback Deion Bonner suspended indefinitely:

This our society people. If I don't have it I will take it, and I should expect it. Right Mr. Pres.

Written on NCAA hits Vols football with additional penalties; tied to Willie Mack Garza:

garbage is as garbage does. The world is so full of scum including the NCAA group. Can't wait until they screw Alabama out of a BCS title shot a couple of times and the SEC will leave the NCAA.

Written on John Adams: If not a big name, how about a familiar one in David Cutcliffe? :

How about Adams as our new AD. The money we save there we could afford a high dollar coach.

Written on John Adams: So which team are you pulling for Saturday? :

The writer of this article is a man of character. Here at UT you are a UT fan and you support your team. Go back to where ever you came from.

Written on Vols still searching for answers on defense:

The coaching staff is failing. The talent cannot be that bad. Just can't be. When your defensive game plan is to tire the other teams offense so your defense can come up with a stop late in the game you need to be replaced.

Written on Pre-snap communication issues part of growing pains on defense :

If we have to worry about the Troy offense than we just should through in the towel. This whole thing got broken. A six yard punt followed by a fifteen yard punt. I know it took me a long time to admit it but this staff can't win.

Written on Mark Wiedmer: Could these Vols shock the world?:

I was there in 1982 when we beat bama. I was in my second year. I knew it was gonna happen. This time?

Written on Vols game at Mississippi State a 9 p.m. kickoff on ESPN2:

The 7:00 starts are best. Party before during and after.

Written on John Adams: Next up is biggest game of season :

I see this very differently. USC east is a winnable game. I think we have two more loses coming and that is max

Written on Tennessee center James Stone has left snapping problems in the past :

I have mentioned before that our kicking woes might be due to having left handed kickers. We get used to certain ways things happen since 6 years old playing on the play ground. Coaches really need to consider everything.

Written on John Adams: Anti-UT quarterback club could add new member :

in response to underthehill:

The Knoxville News Sentinel provides this site free of charge for comment on the content of articles ..not on the writer.

If posters want to bash 20 year old kids playing football than they could bash the people getting paid to write these lame article. I like reading the post and spend less time reading these articles.

Written on Derrick Brodus more concerned about scoring points than breaking barriers :

in response to 45ReVOLver:

(This comment was removed by the site staff.)

Not at all. I.E. Left handed snapper. Things that my not be natural and practiced since we were kids.

Written on Derrick Brodus more concerned about scoring points than breaking barriers :

The problem is our kickers are left footed. Just got a problem with that. The whole working of everything changes.

Written on John Adams: All in for Tennessee? Not after that :

Our fans leaving early is bad. If your a fan stay for your team or do not come.

Written on David Climer: Return of ESPN mirrors that of Vols:

Since the early 90's we can only win the close game and they(fl) could win the close games and the wide margin games. The state of fl has more football talent then Tn and it shows. I still am inclined to believe a low to middle scoring game that we win by 10 is what to expect.

Written on Tennessee Vols' Tyler Bray stays cool despite hot start:

The players are showing great attitudes. They really deserve a victory.

Written on Tennessee Vols' Tyler Bray stays cool despite hot start:

How about an article on match-ups or brake down of positions. Hate it when media tries to make it a soap.

Written on John Adams: What comes later bigger challenge for Vols, Gators :

The winner of this game could win the East?

Written on Tennessee Volunteers coach Derek Dooley sees upswing:

This was the first time in four years we had enough players for a spring game. Now we are loaded with offensive talent, and have some exerience on D. We will learn much this year. But we should be as fans a little excited.
