wasnt one of them a five star?

Written on John Adams: Vols turn rivalry topsy-turvy :

Savor it for tonight and get up tomorrow and prepare for the next one our beloved Volunteers!

Written on Jarnell Stokes on sophomore surge since Cuonzo Martin stood up for him :

how convenient, stallings planting draft seeds in Stokes' head. i think he wants him gone.

Written on In Butch Jones' 'VOLympics,' UT players will earn, lose points for actions away from field:

in response to CoverOrange:

Bible study session? Guess they are all Christians or are expected to be.

it is an option,not required.

Written on John Adams: Surprise: Lady Vols ahead of last season's pace :

Love me some Lady Vols! Good job players and coaches!

Written on Kamiko Williams makes most of first start in 2 years for Lady Vols, 88-45 :

in response to wigmeister:

Good shorthanded win. Happy to see the rest of the team pick up the slack. Hopefully Ciera will be back soon. Wish Izzy a quick recovery from her surgery.

Uh, never mind!

Written on John Adams: Lady Vols could have used a boost from past :

Defend the backdoor cuts and get the two injured gals back and these ladies will go far.

Written on Skylar Diggins scores 33 to lead Notre Dame past Lady Vols :

in response to underthehill:

Wrong about Kamiko..she was the leader that got the Lady Vols back in the game the first half..the game was over before she got back on the floor the 2nd half..right about Jones and Graves..Jones is really looking good..lack of defense was the main reason this game was lost..no switching on screens...same as last year..

Disagree about Kamiko. IMHO, she was sporadic. Lapsed back in to her underclassmen lazy stretches at times on defense and led to some easy layups. She has really been bringing it of late but took a half step back tonight,

Written on Josh Richardson: 'It's payback week' for Vols :

in response to 8inarow:

I think you mean "grammar". That was not a "grammar" error, it was a spelling error.

Thanks for the correction. While my spelling is somewhat lacking, I knew grammar was correct but my grandmother died 40 years ago today and I must have had her on my mind. Grammer is what I called her as a toddler.

Written on Josh Richardson: 'It's payback week' for Vols :

If henderson escapes Richardson and drives the lane, Yemi needs to greet him with a clean "hard" foul to the mouth. It is obvious that his mouth spoils his value by the lack of offers he had despite the talent. Rebel fans better hope him and Kennedy don't take any cabs together. Don't bother to give me any bear mascot or grammer corrections either

Written on Injury keeping Dallas Thomas out of Senior Bowl :

dang, knock em dead at the combine Dallas

Written on Mike Strange: Jalen Steele proves he's good enough in Knoxville homecoming :

Let's hear it from the Pearl lovers. Good thing Jalen didn't attend the infamous BBQ.

Written on No worry against Missouri for Lady Vols, 84-39 :

Graves looks like Glory but she can hit layups fairly consistently. Glory is one of my all-time favorites but she played too fast, especially early on. Harrison is fun to watch. Glad to see Kamiko finally show consistency and Spani returning to form. Love em all and can't wait till the new Mercedes pulls on the lot.

Written on Marsalis Teague added to NFLPA Collegiate Bowl :

What does NFLPA stand for? Could it be Not For Long Playing Anymore? Did I just type that? No offense to you, Marsalis. I never heard anyone say you didn't give your all for UT today. I hope you are a true VFL. You were screwed when they moved you from wr. Maybe you will get a chance to continue your career as one. Thanks for ditching the reptiles for us and not being with the burger bandits that night like your bud from the FL swamp was.

Written on All-American Kelsey Robinson among 4 players transferring from Tennessee volleyball program:

in response to tensie2004:

I don't know what it is but something is not right with the Lady Vols Volleyball team. The two Florida Gators that he spoke about are not transferringn to another school but are foregoing their senior year in order to have their names entered into this years NFL draft. Somethings wrong and I believe we are not being told the whole story.

Are you sure about the gator transfers? I at least read of qb Jacoby Brissett transferring. It could be for being yelled at too knowing Muschamp but it is probably because of Jeff Driskel.

Written on Vols learn from Martin's lessons in rout of Presbyterian:

How bad is Hall's hammy?

Written on Tennessee WR Justin Hunter bound for NFL draft, while Ja'Wuan James says he'll be back :

in response to Hound_Dog69:

he'll turn out to be another nobody like robert meachem!

Their dropped passes do look similar.

Written on David Martin catches a UT degree at 33:

in response to crutch1966:

he can be the wide receiver coach.

and tight ends. He looked awfully good with the Packers.

Written on New UT coach Butch Jones in Knoxville:

What is done is done. It may be he was the best that was available. The guy appears to be a good coach and may fair well over time. My concern is that we have offensive players that are geared for a pro set and will probably be going to a spread. And our defense will be changing again for the second year in a row. The learning curve will be against us. Hopefully the guy will be able to sell his self and our great rsources to bring in the players to get us back in competition. Hopefully, he can use Graham, Pittman and Hinshaw on his staff. I ain't real thrilled about what I have heard about his DC. At any rate, I will pull for my Vols. Petrino was the only candidate that would have changed that. Too many lies and too much abandonment of his post.

Written on Andraya Carter able to practice for Lady Vols, Jasmine Phillips still out :

I Love Me Some Lady Vols. Bring it all home Holly!

Written on Lady Vols will need more senior moments :

Keep having those great Sr. moments Kamiko. We love you!

Written on Derrick Ansley sees NFL future for freshman LaDarrell McNeil :

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE:

I think if you threw Suneri's and Ansley's brains in an empty boxcar it would sound like two BB's bouncing around in there.

OK. I'll pile on. If you put there brains on the edge of a razor blade, it would look like BBs rolling down a 4-lane highway. (J. Nitzinger - "Texas Blues" from Marysol Pop Festival album; approx 1971, one fine damn electric guitar blues tune!)

Written on Memphis lands Austin Nichols' commitment:

Staying home so Mommy can see him play after her FedEx workday. What happened tothe bis ESPN announcement Dad said they were going to make.

Written on Kara Lawson assists Summitt Foundation :

We Love You Kara. Way to represent!!!

Written on John Adams: Big changes produce routine victory :

It is nice to see some fresh faces after the last class of underachievers. Glory was my favorite with her effort. She still hit the bottom of the rim on layups too often.

Written on Amy Harrison 'couldn't imagine myself anywhere else' than at UT :

Thanks for being a great Lady Vol!

Written on Jim Chaney: Fumbles are Vols' biggest worry against Alabama:

in response to CoverOrange:

Seriously, I thought Young got better and better at RB as the game wore on. But there is something wrong when Hunter has only two catches.

It should be pointed out he could have caught more if he didn't have a case of the gator arms. I love him and agree he should have more chances but if he short-arms balls thrown in traffic like Saturday night and doesn't block better than he did on Young's fumble, he will see less chances instead of more and Todd McShay may fall out of love with him.

Written on Pat Summitt says she was not forced out at Tennessee :

I thought the contention was Pat told Debbie that she felt Hart was pushing her out and then later it came out that Hart told Pat she misunderstood what he said. The affadavit said Pat did tell Debbie what she (Debbie) was contending Pat told her. I could be wrong and that would be the first time that ever happened on to anyone on here.

Written on UT's buyout money doesn't count each fiscal year :

in response to Classof72:

You can't spell buyoUT without UT.

I see a buyout comin'
It's comin' round the bend,
Cause we ain't won a conference game,
Since Vandy was our friend.

We're hangin' by our fingers,
Just barely holdin' on,
And if we don't stop losin'
Another coach is gone.

Class of 72 and still productive. Kudos!

Written on Tennessee receiver Jason Croom likely to make debut Saturday :

in response to 615VOL:

Can't wait to see if he is the next big time receiver in line! What is the deal with Drae Bowles?

Bowles has been reported as having a longer learning curve than most in getting with the offense.

Written on John Adams: UT put up a good front on defense :

in response to Timbo_Slice:

Defense looked pretty good in the opener. My only question is where was McCullers all night? I never heard his name called and didn't notice seeing him on the field. Didn't see much of Sentimore either. Is it going to take some time for them to adjust to this level or is this just a result of the 3-4 with the linebackers making all the plays and getting the glory?

McCullers was doing what he was supposed to. Quote from the article on him last week;

"It's big, just to take on the double-teams and triple-teams each play to free up the linebackers," McCullers said. "I came here for that reason."

Of course, later in the interview he said he wanted to sack the quarterback too. If our outside containment had been better with the not-so-nimble Glennon, he probably would have had some.

Written on Maxwell Smith picked as Kentucky QB:

Can't you just see 99 in a tight fitting cheerleader outfit circa early 60s?

Written on Maxwell Smith picked as Kentucky QB:

in response to VolunteerLifer:

You stole my thunder, man. As soon as I read the headline, I thought to myself "Too bad his last name isn't
Smart!" Wouldn't it be great if it was and one of his offensive players had the number 99 and he could say "Well, ninety nine........."

And after every pass he would say as he held his thumb and pointer an inch apart: "Missed it by that much"

Written on Ellen Wortham's final hurdle is what to do next :

So proud of you Ellen. You are what a student athlete should be. Be blessed and a blessing!

Written on Walk-on Cory Stanton leaving men's basketball team:

in response to Rookie2:

What in the world are you talking about.. thin roster.., damage control for what?? We return everybody of significance off last years team and will be adding several new guards to the mix. There will be much more depth and experience going into 2012 than we had in 2011.

I think he was being counted on to play some point. Doesn't sound good but there could be more to the story like Cuonzo saying a scholarship is not anywhere in your future. The kid needs to get an RV as much as he moves around.

Written on Nikki Caldwell gives birth to girl :

Congratulations, as well, to Antonio Juan Fargas, better known as Huggy Bear on Starsky and Hutch. This would be his granddaughter.

Written on Tennessee fans lobbying Peyton Manning to consider Titans :

He is not a Tennessan although he is a Volunteer.

Written on Mike Strange: Vols have to zig-zag before straight-line success :

in response to DarkGable:

People need to relax. Games like these you learn from. This team is learning while going through the fire. But of course all you couch potato coaches and wannabe players will ridicule, its what you do. I'm sure the BP apologists will start a campaign. The Dooley haters will draw a comparison. Come on out the closet playstation coaches. Tell us what you would have done. Tell us how you can play point guard better than Trae. Oh thats right you dont play Div I hoop. You just sit around and analyze like you're a backup for ESPN. Oh you dont work for ESPN either. So you dont coach college Bball or play college ball. Emo analysts.

Amen and preach on brother!

Written on Sam Pittman named offensive line coach; Harry Hiestand resigns:

Plus, Harry has to give us around 188K for his release, doesn't he?

Written on Glory Johnson earns SEC Player of the Week for a second time :

Had Glory learned to slow down on put-backs and lay-ups, she would probably be known as the greatest Lady Vol ever. She and Tamika are my all-time favorites. I admire them both for their off-court lives as well. Tamika continues to "represent" here in Indy even today.

I admire Glory's motor. She is just a joy to watch!

Written on Letter from DeAnthony Arnett:

in response to Goodvol_1:

Dooley's responsibility is to the university. He did what he felt was the right thing for this specific situation. Based on the knowledge he had, he made a decision to release him with restrictions. So, he DID let him go. He just can't go to Michigan or Michigan St. If he says the reason he is going is to be closer to his dad, then Dooley is allowing that.

Dooley is just not going to let one of his players decide I'd rather be at another school and allow it to happen with no restrictions. I fully support that. You can't attend for one year and then decide to try another school without having to make some sacrifice.

Obviously Dooley feels (and the NCAA) that the real reason Arnett is leaving is because he wants to be at Michigan or Michigan State. His Dad's illness appears to be a trump card they are playing to get a hardship waiver. Dooley must have enough information to come to this conclusion. If that is the case, I give him credit for even allowing a release under any conditions!

I fully support Dooley's decision.

I would also tell Arnett to have someone proof-read his next letter. I'm a little embarrassed for him.

Winner, winner ; chicken dinner. The True Voice of Reason speaks! (I can't wait for my composition grade from this group of vultures!)

Written on WR DeAnthony Arnett seeking release from scholarship :

I bet his position coach "retiring" was huge for him too. I say let him go and petition the hardship folks to push hard to get to the bottom of the illness/timikng before deciding on the eligibility issue.

Written on Dave Hart names two from Alabama as members of leadership team:

in response to pingkr62:

The difference between Battle and Dooley? Doug Dickey left Bill Battle with an excellent and complete roster. Your beloved Phil Fulmer/ Lane Kiffin left Derrick Dooley with nothing. G.B.O.!!!

Bingo, that was my years on the Hill. He lost one more game each year as he lost Dickey's players and relied on his own recruits. At least we had Condredge, Sievers, Spiva and a few other great talents. Plus we still had Cafego and his special teams.

Written on Mike Strange: Recruiting in Georgia can trump game:

in response to Packer_Park_Orange:

With a loss to Richt and Chizik at Auburn, this spells trouble for Tennessee...When there are even adequate coaches at Auburn and Ga. this always spells trouble for Tennessee recruiting in Ga.. With a fraud like Doolittle it's not surprising the only players we're in on in Georgia are scrubs and everybody elses rejects...Welcome to the Wonderful World of Doofus...perpetual 6-6 or 5-7.

It has to really suck to be you! Your posts make me think of "Precious" in Silence of the Lambs. You have to be a scrawny, wirey-haired nobody yipping at any sign of life.
