This guy has issues.

Written on Jenny Moshak filled many roles for Lady Vols:

She may have had a decent argument if women's basketball produced the kind of revenue that football does. But it doesn't, and to come out and whine about $102,000 a year to travel the country and watch sporting events is just plain stupid. It's great that Dave Hart is getting rid of the Moshak's and Debbie Jennings types that think they are entitled to things that they aren't. There isn't another school in the nation where they would have been the salaries they were being paid.

Written on Jenny Moshak retiring from UT over 'issues of equality':

Written on Liberty Bowl makes deal with SEC to double payout, be in same pool as Outback:

in response to DawgDayAfternoon:

The only team that doesn't travel well in Knoxburg is the Vols. We all know it's known as Tidetown on the 3rd Saturday, we're contemplating bringing our own hedges this year for the 4th straight smackdown. Dawgs don't travel to the Liberty, because, unlike for Vol fans, 5-7s aren't our norm and we don't get too excited about a once every 5 year trip to the Liberty, Weedeater, or Papa Johns, the way all Vol fans now do.

UGa hasn't been relevant since the early 1980's and the Vols own the overall series vs. the pups. Almost won in Athens last year with an awful team. Won't be long until the Vols are dropping half a hundred on the Pups in Athens again.

http://capitalonebowl.floridacitrussp...

Since 1990, UT has played in the Cotton Bowl 3 times. Georgia hasn't played once although its closer from Athens to Dallas than it is from Knoxville to Dallas.

That's because Georgia fans didn't want to go to Memphis. It's not a destination city. Also, Knoxville is 15 miles closer to Dallas than Athens.

Written on Liberty Bowl makes deal with SEC to double payout, be in same pool as Outback:

I would rather go to a bowl game in January in Nome, Alaska than venture into the Memphis ghetto for a bowl game. The Liberty Bowl is pretty much near nothing but the airport and a whole bunch of seedy activity. Have fun with that, Downtown Memphis is not much of a destination city anyway and the area around the Liberty Bowl certainly isn't a must see.

Written on Coaches feud over impact of fast-paced offenses on players:

in response to CoverOrange:

Malzahn has it right. The offense is out there for 15+ plays just like the defense. More over, don't want to go 15+ plays, stop the offense at 3 plays.

The offense knows the play though and the defense doesn't. In other words, the defender has no idea what's going to be coming at him and the offense knows exactly where they are going to hit the defense. The defender always has less of a chance to protect himself in most cases. That said, no rules changes are needed.

Way too many other games in that time slot to purchase PPV. Way too many other games on to go! This is where scheduling Austin Peay State University hurts, move to a 9 game SEC schedule and play three respectable non-conf schools. That's how you boost attendance.

Written on Poll: What is the best way to increase student attendance at home football games?:

in response to GOJO:

Show your student ID & get in free. After all, you did pay an activity fee.

The student rec center, swimming pool, intramural facilities and every other sport at UT are covered by the activity fee. Ten bucks isn't asking much for SEC football tickets.

Written on What is the best way to increase student attendance at home UT football games?:

in response to dmcsteel:

Activity Fee was nice, but those who had no intention of attending games whined about paying for those that went. $10 is about as cheap as you can get for 3 to 4 hours of entertainment, been to a movie lately? And winning would help. It's been a long time since I was a student, but I really would like to see the students closer to the field. It sucks to have the silent fans crowded around the field in the best seats, doesn't really add to the "homefield advantage".

Exactly, ten bucks isn't much money to go watch SEC football. That activity fee pays for much more than a football ticket. It's a gym membership, pool membership, etc. As a UTK grad, all this complaining about ten bucks is ridiculous. As noted above, that activity fee isn't just a football thing.

Enhance the tailgating pre and post game instead of enforcing rules with a gestapo attitude.

I've been going to games since 1990 and have yet to see the Gestapo. You must be getting really out of hand if the Police are harassing you. Written on Nashville expresses interest if SEC keeps tourney in one site:

in response to Rich_Is_Re-born:

While it would be GREAT for Nashville to be the permenantly host, I'm still against having it in one particular site. If they are gonna have it in one place I DO think Nashville is more centrally located to all SEC cities. But I would rather them pick several "permenant" sites and continue rotating it. Atlanta, Tampa, N.O., and Nashville would be my locations. This would give all fan bases a better chance to attend every so often. But you are gonna permenantly alienate a certain portion of your fanbase by locating it at one site. JMO

The SEC Football and Baseball Championship games do not rotate, why should basketball? It should be in Nashville every year as it's by far the best location. The Baseball Championship is in Alabama, Football is in Georgia and Basketball can be in Tennessee.

Written on Tennessee finishes 4th in SEC All-Sports Trophy ranking:

in response to ProfessionalHandicapper:

Look at the Big Three Mens Sports (basketball, football and baseball). UT has been horrible for the last few years. In the last 4 years Vandy finsihed 4th in the World Series, won the Mens SEC basketball Tourney, gone to two Bowls and just broke the all time SEC single season win total in baseball while ranked number 2 in the Nation.
In those same 4 years UT has won no Bowls, missed the SEC baseball Tourney every year, and been nothing but a second rate NIT team. Vandy had a number 4 ranked finish in the Nation while the last time UT finished in the Top 5 in those mens sports was 1998 under Fulmer. Vandy also just put three players in the Top 32 picks of the NBA, something UT has never done. In the Big Three mens sports Vandy has crushed UT in total wins for three straight years and finished second only to Florida two years ago. I know UT fans will talk about the old days while forgetting they fired away the old winners and now are the bottom of the SEC. There is new top dog in the state and its Vandy. We will see ya in the World Series in a few weeks.. GO DORES!!

It shouldn't take a Vanderbilt degree to realize that fourth is better than tenth. At least you can say the Dores were in the top ten.

Written on Heather Mason relieved of duties as UT's associate strength and conditioning coach:

in response to gregorygovols:

She was not an assistant strength coach. A little over a year or two ago she was the head of the strength and conditioning for the women’s athletic department. When the men’s and women’s athletic departments became one, the head strength coach for football became the director of the strength and conditioning department and she became second in command. That is why she was making the amount that she was. N. Christopher is not the head men’s basketball strength coach. He is an assistant on the Olympic staff that is responsible for men’s basketball. His salary is acceptable for the program at a school whose men’s team is as successful (or not) as it is. He has done nothing to deserve more that what he is currently getting. She is complaining because before the two departments joined, she, as head of the women’s strength department was getting paid less than 100,000 and the head of the men’s strength department was getting paid 2.5 times as much. Whether it is right or wrong for her to file a case is irrelevant for this conversation. My point is that before someone comments on a subject, they need to know about the subject.

I don't care if she was the President of the United States! $100,000 bucks is a lot of cash to coach women on how to do sit ups. Women's sports usually cost the university money. I would have shut my mouth making that kind of cash in a non-revenue world. I guess she could go back to Cincy and make $25,000 a year? Good riddance!
