Written on UT sees leaders in line: New position coach building on strength:

in response to sameolvolalum:

Kids, since nobody else has got much of a clue as to how good or bad UT will be next year (since we don't know jack, yet!), just give it a rest and save your half-empty attitudes for dealing with the rest of your (apparently) miserable lifes.

To that I say "AMEN"

Written on Report: Zach Azzanni new Vols receivers coach :

in response to voltrumpet:

So I guess the 'best coaching staff in the country' was at Cincinnati all along... wow, who knew

My thoughts exactly. Coach Jones I will support you until you prove me wrong. I am disappointed that only 1 Tennessee Vol is on the staff when many were available. I am a Vol for life so get to it CBJ recruit us some talent and let's play some football.

Written on Mel Kiper recommends another year for Tyler Bray:

Maturity wise I hope stays, Butch Jones would be good for him to mold him a bit. Bray does not get the compliments he deserves because of his arrogance and his tantrums. That would all stop. Pure talent he could be the best. Wait it out a year and watch your draft projection go up. Either way good luck.

Written on Tee Martin turns down Tennessee homecoming, will stay at Southern Cal :

Time to move on and let it go. Tee isn't coming so stop the whining. Jones will go out and find someone who really wants to be here. I do think he owes us an explanation on leaving no stone unturned on assembling the best staff in the country. Didn't realize that the best staff in the country was in Cincinnati but it's his staff to assemble he will be the guy who has to answer for it. Right now I'm all in and he has my support, let's go out and reel in a great recruiting class and rebuild our program. GBO.

I second that!!!

I 3rd that, that means the motion carries. Let's put it behind us. His boss has no loyalty to anything neither does Tee. It's sad but true.

Written on Saugatuck to Sunsphere: Butch Jones' meteoric rise :

I cannot believe how split the fan base is. Some of the comments since this hiring are just beyond the limits. I for one support this hire and will continue to so until this coach proves me wrong. He has many things in his favor most notably he wants to be here, that in my book goes a long way. I am not a short term fan. I have lived through the likes of Dickey, Battle, Majors, Fulmer and so forth. Do I wish we could have hired a coach with orange blood in his veins, you bet I would but none were available except for Fulmer and Chavis. We weren't going to repeat the mess from Fulmer and unfortunately we burned the bridge with Chavis when we treated him like phooey. I think it's time to move on, we have our guy. Yes, he has no SEC experience, neither did Miles, Saban, Richt or even Meyer-- all successful SEC coaches. Tennessee has allowed themselves to get to this level, it will take a man with guts and fire to bring it out of the sewers of college football, Butch Jones may be just the guy to do that. Enough with all this negative thinking and Yes the smartest thing he has done so far is get rid of the entire loosing staff except for Jay Graham. He hasn't proved me wrong yet. We had the worst defense, worst special teams so good bye and good riddance to those losers. Our offense, c'mon folks, everyone knew Chaney was a passing guy when he came here and he would not change, in the SEC you must be able to run that football up the gut and protect it. When he proves all of you nay sayers wrong I hope to see you posting on here in support of the man who has led the VOLS back to the top of the SEC.

Well put

Written on Local business owners, fans react to Butch Jones' hiring :

in response to Lookout1234:

What UT really needs to do is get rid of their orange and white colors. They look like a bunch of sissy's when they go on the field. They might as well be wearing pink and white. What people in the know know, is dark colors like black, dark blue, dark green, are intimidating colors.
Case in Point - the Oakland Raiders with their black and silver uniforms. When they came on the field they looked like a bunch of bad boys.
The Nazis knew this and dressed their mean Panzer crews in black uniforms instead of the standard issue of field grey.
Orange is not very intimidating. And when they play away games they can't even dress out with orange as the main color. They look like a bunch of waiters prancing out on the field.
Ditch the orange and change the color so something that looks more menacing.

Sorry pal your blood is definitely not "ORANGE" like the rest of us. Go away.

Written on Improbable 'dream job' for Butch Jones:

Vol fans it's time to unite. 2 years from now when this guy has us contending for the east where will you be, behind him I hope. He knows that he has to assemble a good defensive staff, he eluded to that in his press conference. It will be see you Sal and so it should be. This guy has been a winner everywhere he has been, no reason to be he won't be a winner in Knoxville. Sure he's not glamorous but neither was our basketball coach but he has us on the right track. I have a gut feeling we have made a good hire.

Written on Do you believe Butch Jones is the right choice to be UT's coach?:

Written on John Adams: Reality reigns in UT hire :

in response to FanNotSheep:

Blame John all you like, but the press feeds off the fan base more than the other way around. I can't count how many times I've heard, "We deserve better than this." Really? Why?

Do other fans of other programs not donate money for their seats? Do they not spend outrageous prices for bottled water just like we do?

Not every team can win. Every game has one winner and one loser. For 17 years, Fulmer won 75 percent of the time, and other than a magical run when that percentage was 90, most UT fans were not satisfied. They said, "We deserve better."

Well, regardless of what you deserve, this is what you got. Whether you hired the wrong coaches or the wrong people to hire the coaches is up for debate. But I've listened to and watched UT games for 45 years and I've seen good times and bad. At no time did I think I was so special that "I deserved better." I pull for the players in orange no matter what. Because they are the ones who bleed, sweat and put their bodies (and lives really) at risk each time they take the field. They deserve better than the sorry fan base that feels a sense of entitlement for turning on the damn TV.

Well put my fan friend. You are 100% correct.

Written on UT out? Gundy, Strong negotiating to stay at their schools:

Yes, this is ridiculous, it's an absolute shame that this circus is unfolding. Gundy would be a horrible choice. Strong needs to be our man but Louisville is going to do whatever they can to keep him. What does that tell you? GO VOLS

Written on Is Tennessee's coaching search nearing the finish line, or does Dave Hart still plan more talks? :

in response to VolsFanInAfghanistan:

Why does BigDaddyOrange have to s_t_f_u!!! He was only stating his opinion for something that you were doing as well. This is what I'm not understanding about this site right now. People are stating they opinions and likes and who they would like to see and then they get called names and not true Vol fans, why? You like who you like as a coach, good, but just because someone doesn't go along with you should they hold their tongues just to not offend anyone that doesn't like their chose? Has it truly come to this?

Way to go, your are correct c'mon people. This bunch is acting like the football team and not playing "TEAM"

Written on Is Tennessee's coaching search nearing the finish line, or does Dave Hart still plan more talks? :

in response to DwayneElizondoMountainDewHerbertCamacho:

I hate it that Charlie Strong is represented by Jimmy Sexton, but I don't care. I think he'll make a fantastic coach for the Vols and actually get us playing for an SEC championship in 4 years.

I totally agree with everything you say. But as a Vol fan I have to ask, will we give him 4 years? I think he is positively our guy, I can support him and get behind him, I believe he understands the X's and O's of the game better than Dooley and won't be in over his head. But your statement is correct 4 years is what we have to be willing to endure. Go get Strong and GO BIG ORANGE.

Written on As Jon Gruden drama ends, focus shifts to other Tennessee candidates :

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE:

If I know UT's luck they'll go with Fisher and he'll bomb at UT..As far as Strong is concerned he'll probably go to Aubie and kick our arse next year..UT's luck has been rotten lately.

You make your own luck. The past 4 years are proof of that. Hamilton hired Kiffin , old man from the Raiders said don't do it we did it anyway and Hammy went on to hire Dooley, who? that's what everyone said "never heard of him" There are names out there that are proven winners, Strong is one of them. You make your own luck.

Written on As Jon Gruden drama ends, focus shifts to other Tennessee candidates :

Strong is the right man for the job. All Tennessee has to do is make the right offer and he ours. He will enjoy eating fried gator tail for many years. Brings a rock solid defensive mind, all he needs is a good offensive coordinator and he can recruit Florida well. He's our man.

Written on Agent says Gruden never had interest in Vols' job, calls reports "fantasy":

Well that's kind of what I was afraid of, a lot of kabash for nothing, now we need to move on and get about the real business of going after a coach who can set Rocky Top back to it's rightful place at the top of the heap in the east and competing inside the top 10 or 15 year in and year out. The rebuild will take a while but I believe if Hart will do what's right he will go out and hire the right man.
That right man in my book is none other than Charlie Strong, he knows the SEC, after the way Florida treated him he would love nothing better than to kick some gator butt every year, he could recruit Florida well and he's done his time as a coordinator. To me he represents the most legitimate shot we have to restore order to the Vol nation.

Written on Vols believe they will respond better this season:

I like Dooley, I love the VOLS, always will win or lose. The truth of the matter is we are not there yet. We are improved over 1 year ago yes. Unfortunately with all of the other coaching changes Dooley didn't have the luxury of getting rid of his OC and getting someone who had the talent to develop team leadership. We gave up, I a disappointed but reality check guys. We are playing over our heads at this point. Muschamp came in with a good plan, send in plenty of substitutes on defense in the first half and wear us out in the second, it worked. Lesson learned!!!!!!!!

Written on UT looking into former coaches' contact with UT commitments:

If they've done anything wrong, then let the NCAA nail them. If not let's let it go we are rid of the scum.

Written on Hooker: Vols need to release mid-term enrollees :

Disagree, the student is supposed to enroll to the university not the coach. They need to wear orange, bleed orange and breathe orange. GO VOLS

Written on Vols add Joseph, Russell to coaching staff:

in response to Ringside:

Agree.

Absolutely, Thompson is definitely a keeper and would do well as DC, as for Al Wilson heck yeah. That would a a great staff.

Written on UT's new direction led by Dooley:

Come on VOL fans, let's give DD a chance. I too was very skeptical when I heard about the hire. After listening to the guy embrace our traditions I say give him a shot. UT football took years to put into mediocrity, it will take a while to get it out of the mess it is in. As for Kiffin forget him, I am most surprised at Dad, the other two we knew were scumbags.

Written on Kiffin hired by Southern Cal: 'I really believe this is the only place I would have left to go':

Hire a snake and we get bit. Now what do you do Hamilton, maybe the university should fire you too. Hire Fulmer as AD and he will hire someone who really bleeds orange.

Written on Finding the right coach for Vols :

Muschamp, all the names are a gamble but Muschamp has youth appeal and SEC experience.
We really need a home run and frankly not a single name mentioned above is that. So go get Muschamp and get it over with maybe by the time we are done with him Peyton will be ready to come home.

Written on Report: Davis adamant he's not interested in UT:

For goodness sakes everybody, let's end all of the bloodshed, we are loosing good recruits. Sign Cowher, he can announce right now, he can sign right now and the recruiting loss will be over.

Written on Hamilton seeking integrity, salesmanship in coach :

Way to go Mr. Hamilton, good luck finding someone who'll be as dedicated to the Big Orange as Phil. Surely you would not consider Lane Kiffin, knows nothing about playing in the SEC. You had better hit a home run with this one and I for one am afraid you are taking this too lightly.

Written on None:

The Florida loss only shows everyone had bad our offense stinks. We need new leadership. Phil we do love you but step aside and join the AD staff and let us bring in a new coach. Will Muschamp looks good right now.
