bearyh-He has talent. He wouldn't be at Tennessee if he didn't have talent. Like I said, yes the fumbles stink. That's not my biggest problem with him. MY biggest problem is that he doesn't run and hit the holes hard. If you would like to disagree, then please, go back and watch the UCLA game. Go back and watch any game. He occassionally will hit a hole hard but, very rarely. That was knock on him possibly going into the draft this past year and in spring practice from what the running back's coach has been on record saying.

He prances and dances around. He jukes and side steps. He has good qualities. He can catch the ball out of the back field and with space between him and a defender, he juke or stiff arm, but he can't out run anyone. More times than not, he's caught from behind.

On Drops not whole story for Foster

Posted on September 8 at 3:19 a.m.

We have to fix a lot of things by Saturday and here are just some of them. The most important? We HAVE TO block. Our o-line was supposedly going to be our strong suit. Crompton got beat like Rodney King back there. 2) Play with a little more pride and heart out there. It was great when they came out for the game vs UCLA but then it just seemed like they thought..."hey we are Tennessee, UCLA will lay down." 3) Play Hardesty more. I'm sorry but I've lost it for Foster. Yes he fumbles. My biggest problem isn't even the fact that he has fumbled in key situations. My problem is that we refuses to hit the holes hard. He dances and prances. He can't out run anyone. Sure he may break a run, but I would bet the house he would get caught from behind. Why would I bet that? Bc it has happened on more than 5 occassions.

Alot of you seem to read into posts made by people like me the wrong way. I'm not asking to fire anyone. I'm asking to give Foster a reality check. MAybe he needs less playing time to realize this is it. Crap or get off the pot. We had the most momentum when Hardesty was in the game. He ran hard. He ran over people. He ran with purpose. Foster lost that some where in my opinion. Bc I feel thatw ay does not mean I'm not a vol fan or I'm arrogant as someone said. It means I watch the damn games and I evaluate what's going on. It wasn't hard to see that Foster danced too much, fumbled on a key play, the o-line couldn't block a pee-wee team, and we played with no emotion for the most part.

I'm not saying bench Foster and we will win out. I'm saying play Hardesty more and maybe that will light a fire underneath Foster. Maybe it won't, but its not about playing the guy who is a senior or trying to get him the rushing record. It's about winning and we have a team to do just that and its time we start putting the absolute best players on the field. Not the ones who have been there and "waited" their time.

1) If we actually protect against the punt block, we are talking right now.

2) If Foster hangs on to the ball on ucla's 6, we aren't talking. He wants to bitch and complain that the media is stirring it up? Nope, please Foster, read this now. I'm not in the media and I'm not too dumb to realize that you have fumbled away 4 wins since you have been in Tennessee. You don't like the tough love, then please sit down and cry on the bench and allow the best back we have play, Hardesty. Unlike Foster, Hardesty hits the hole hard, lowers his head...follows blocks, doesn't dance and prance around. All I heard over the summer and leading up to the game vs UCLA was how Foster has changed his game. That he hits the hole harder. Man if that isn't one big load of crap, I don't know what is. What happened on the first drive Hardesty was in on? Pretty sure we scored and he took an 11 yard run for a touchdown.

Yes Tennessee lost and yes many are to blame, but if this guy is going to whine and cry about the media and others griping about his fumbles, then I have zero problem putting a huge chunk of it on him. He can't out run anyone. He gets caught from behind and he's afraid, yes afraid, to hit the hole hard. Everyone complained about Gerald Riggs dancing and prancing, but at least in the open field or around the corner he had a chance to out run people. This guy couldn't out run Joe Paterno.

So please Foster, take your whinning, crying, moaning, and bitching to the bench and try to be motivated by how Hardesty runs with purpose and drive.

On Game film makes Fulmer madder

98reax-You are very right. I still would've been mad. I'm not calling for jobs. Look at my post, but I am very let down and embarassed about what our team looked like on Monday night. If we would've snuck by, I would've been mad and hoping like I am now that we are fixing the problems that existed Monday. We possibly could've scored had we not played for the field goal. We drove 40 yards in 27 seconds to score...you are telling me we can's put something together in overtime to get a few first downs or touchdown? We were out played and out coached...but the out coached part is starting to become too much of a theme. UCLA had more heart and wanted to win.

So Fulmer is mad about the blocked punt? I'm sorry but I've seen that punt formation many times and its always bad. Why can't you be in a normal punt formation? Why do we have to try and be fancy?

Someone made the point about running it on 2nd and 6....YES! Why in the heck are we passing, especially when Crompton couldn't hit the broad side of a barn until the 4th quarter. I know this may make some people mad here, but Foster can sit the bench the rest of the year as far as I'm concerned. The guy DOES NOT hit the hole hard and he can't hang onto the ball. Hardesty ran hard and with purpose. We scored on the drive he was in during the the 1st quarter and he ran hard. Foster comes and just prances around.

Our "strong o-line" couldn't have looked anymore worse if they had been wearing skirts and sports bras. They couldn't pick up a blitz if their lives depended on it. I'm a huge defender of our vols but when crap like that happens to a down team like UCLA and a 3rd string quarterback, theres no excuse. Non, nada.

After watching Crompton look so terrible Monday night, I never thought I would hear myself say..."man I miss ainge." He was struggling and im sorry for that, but he's had two years to prepare for this moment and lays an egg.

I just hope that we can work on all of these mistakes and put soemthign together. Remember this everyone: last year Michigan lost in their opener. We lost in our opener. We put together a nice run of things afterwards and made the SEC championship game and nearly won it. Michigan also had a nice game vs Florida. So maybe history can repeat itself in some areas.

Here's to hoping.

I loved all the hate prior to this coming out today. Everyone jumping on Fulmer because he either didn't know who to hire or couldn't hire the right people. Who knows if these are the right guys, but everyone sure seems happy all of a sudden.....I'm a vol fan through and through, its just kind of disappointing that it took this to make all of happy and rejoice.

I think its pretty simple: Fulmer is going to stay at Tennessee for just about as long as he wants. He had one terrible year. One!!! If you really hate him that badly, then please, go cheer on Vandy, MTSU, Memphis, East Tennessee, or some other sec school. We are all vol fans wanting the best. We have to roll with what we have. As I stated earlier, give me 10 Fulmers over Pertrino or Sabin. At least he won't leave us high and dry. Do you really think Fulmer doesn't want to win? Do you really think he doesn't want to have the best program? Thats why college football is the best its every been....because everyone is getting better. Sometimes its just up to the players to show up. Hell we beat UGA 35-14 and turn around and lose big to bama. Losing big and winning isnt always coaching. A lot of this season was on the players.

I love vol fans. The reason I do, is because I am one myself. I understand the bitching and moaning. We all want to win national championship after natoinal championship or at least sec championship after sec championship. The fact is, college football is a lot better than it used to be. There are more teams who are established. There are more teams becoming more established every year. More teams are recruiting much better.

Actually, are more teams recruiting better or are there just more athletes to choose from? Sure, some athletes are better than others, but I think there are more athletes to choose from and rely on to make a team better than there used to be. That's why these "4 and 5 star" players don't mean as much anymore.

I'm not so much worried about the players we get as long as they are good people, because we all know they are going to be great athletes to even play at the level, I'm worried about how we coach them. I think Coach Fulmer is great. I think he is a great person. I think he really does try to instill leadership and character into young men. He's great to have around. Give me 10 Fulmers over Sabin's and Petrino's any day of the damn week.

I for one am glad Fulmer is taking his time. I hope he picks the right person. I woulnd't mind trying to allow Trooper the position if we cans till keep him. How do we know he isn't the right person for the job without giving him a shot? No one can do a good or bad job without getting a shot. What about Tee Martin coaching quarterbacks? Peyton Manning is even on record as saying what a great coach Tee would make. This is not the time to bitch and moan, this is a time for all vol fans to believe in what did and can make us great again. Our, staff, school, and players. Believe!

Umm...IF het gets drafted, it will be late. He will never see the NFL playing field. Tell me what kind of skills he has that gives him a shot at the nfl. He can't throw the deep ball. He hasn't all year and when he has, it was short. He puts too much air under the ball. Sure, he can throw the 5 yard outs, the quick slants, a screen and a dink and dunk. That's it. He can't throw the deep ins, outs, crossing, comebacks....thats why they developed the quick offense. That's why they taught him not to hold the ball for more than 2-3 seconds. To avoid sacks and long passes he can't throw or control.

He hasn't been and is not that good.
