in response to Huttdawg100: No excuse for his actions. Honestly, I just don't see how he can remain on the team. I think he's forced Dooley's hand. With that said, I'm not sure about Clear's financial background or the well being of his family, but I think this is yet another reason to pay these athletes. Or at least allow them to work and make money to buy a laptop. College football is now a multi-BILLION dollar industry. These tv contracts and salaries for these coaches are growing at an exponential rate. The SEC network will be HUGE. However, these guys get nothing? How is that fair or ethical?

I don't care how poor you are, I grew up in a family that didn't have a lot of money but we had our name and that was worth more than a few lap tops.
If this is the argument to pay athletes so they don't steal, it’s a pathetic one.
Wouldn't put too much stock into this depth chart, you have a couple of guys coming in (Patterson, Mnt. McCullers) that will be in the 2 deep if not starting. Also Harris will be lucky to see any time this year after the ACL.
Think you are going to see a lot of 4-3 especially in the begining working into the 3-4 by next year. Otherwise after our performance last Sat, you will see a lot of teams flat run us over.

Funny how we play three of them this year and possibly four if you get to back Atlanta.

Because it is not just the 25 you sign this year, but the 85 total you have on the team. We are a young team so we would have gone over our limit. Plus you don't sign someone just to get 25.
Lets just hope he doesn't have any late night cravings for cheese burgers.
in response to TheVolSnake: Projected Offense *** included Recruits QB, Tyler Bray (if stays healthy will lead the SEC in passing), Back up Worley and Peterman possible Red Shirt Running Back, Marlin Lane can’t determine backups and second running back yet will have to see what spring practice brings. In the mix: Bourque, Neal, Hill, Watson and Williams. At this time I would have Bourque and Williams as the leaders if Neal doesn’t switch back to Running back. TE Rivera followed very closely by Clear and both in the double TE set, Downs as the Backup and Meredith as Red shirt. OL Starters: Gooch, Bullard, Stone, James and Schofield, backups: Richardson, Jackson, Posey, Kerbyson, Pair, Thomas and Fulton: Depending on the new line coach this will be switched around a lot all have experience and capability, it is a very strong group just needs a little teaching the finer points and will be outstanding this year. WR’s: D. Rick Rodgers and Hunter (will lead the SEC in receiving) Z. Rodgers in three WR sets. I think that Milton and Dallas finally show how good they really are. Howard I think will take the place of Lane as our return man and will be a great slot receiver. Bowles and Groom could become impact players right away, but I wouldn’t be surprised if both red shirt and they make Groom a TE. The Vol’s have a great receiving Corp and has a lot of flexibility here. This group barring major injuries has the ability to be dominating and after signing day and spring practice will be more defined.

You lost me when you said Gooch will be starting over Jackson, plus Milton is gone to Louisville. Lay off the NCAA 12 Dynasty and pay attention to is still here.
in response to buzz29: "retires"? Don't you have to have had a career before you retire? How ironic that Kiffin was concerned about another kid possibly having to pump gas for a living while he recruited and signed one who robbed a gas station.

Lovie is on the plane headed to KVille as I type!
nice
"There's been more freakish things happen in this season than I've ever been around," Franklin said.
Think you're learning something most of us already know VANDY IS VANDY!
Does that mean he shows out for a couple of games, plays no D, than gets a big head and leaves early?
Question: If we had to, can Worley not be redshirted next year? If Bray stays healthy and we need mop up can they put in Nash or someone else?
I know UK redshirtted Sheppard in basketball his Sr year so that he would have more playing time the following year.
phooey
Still a free ride, hope he makes the best out of getting a credible degree.
Not sure how much playing time he was going to get at WR anyway?

Nope, its butter like as smooth as...
So let me get this straight,
- If you lie to your boss and the governing body of your sport, this is what happens to you:
A) You screw the program and get a nice severance package out of it.
B) You get hired as a VP of Marketing (I'm sure with a very nice salary and perks)with a big company and get to stay in K-Town.
Just remember kids lying will get you no where!

so what
Sorry DONTE' anyway you spell it, still equals bust.
Wow, really that comment gets removed? As much as I love the vols it doesn't mean I'm blind to the fact he has been a bust, his 40 time got him drafted. One average year with the Saints, doesn't a career make.
One I know a lot about Dante, two you can only be a game changer if you are actually in the game.
Everyone needs to take the orange glasses off, if he didn't play here, than everyone else would be saying the same.
sorry "maybe" fingers going to fast
in response to bigorange61: If he had committed to UT, it would have been "Oh great, Dooley signs another 3 star". But since he didn't sign it's "Dooley loses another great instate talent". No way to win with some of you guys. Seriously, some of you need to get a life. Or jump off a bridge. You are pathetic POS.

Whats the matter, your mangina hurting today? Go get some Motrin and relax.
For the people who are mad we didn't get him, we have roughly 20 spots this class and he is not a need at this time. Stars smars, we need the big uglies on the DL.

I think if you read it a little more closely, he was refering to Fulmer not Kiffin.
I think I would have to disagree with the "we don't need him / already have that type player in Young" thoughts. Even though he may be small the one thing in this world you cannot coach is speed!
This game is all about matchups and having someone like this one on one in space is winner for you every time. I like Young, but he is not the player this guy is, not as fast, or skilled. The only thing they share is their overall size.
I know we have needs, but you still take the best and fastest when you can get it and sort out the rest later. The "we didn't want or need him anyway" jabber is ridiculous. If he picks UT the same we didn't need him crowd will think he's the greatest thing since sliced bread.

You lost all credibility when you said Vandy fan. By the way how’s that football team of yours doing? Doesn't seem to matter who are coach is you can’t beat us, but then again being able to beat Vandy isn’t exactly the pre-requisite for being our football coach.
By the way I believe you have now lost to a 13 and 12 seed the last two years in the tourney, Stallings is a genius.
I hear Jerry Green is available?
In fact I can see it now we hire a crappy coach he lasts 3 or 4 years gets fired, than just like Jordan did with the Bulls the headlines will say "He's Back!" with that big ole Bruce Pearl grin on the front page of the Sentinel.
I admire him for doing this, but we just brought in 7 potential DB's, do we really need to use a scholarship on another DB? Unless a couple of these safeties are going to be moved to LB, than why not save it and go after more DL help next year we need that a lot more.

Rich my man forgot about all the experts on here that had never mentioned this kid until this article came out, now all of a sudden he's the greatest thing since slice bread. Look forget the "Diamonds in the Rough" just because some kid ran over your slow cousin from some hick town doesn't mean his the next coming of Bo Jackson. Let’s stick with the recruits that are more probable’s than maybe's and we just might climb past 4th in the East in the near future.

Well my bad, but he wouldn't be the first kid to have those type of numbers in highschool. I believe the Guilmere(SP) from Oak Ridge a few years back had 2,000 yds or pretty close to it? So don't read to much into that.
I'm sorry but who the hell is Willie Carmichael?
What did he call someone a liar in front of Bruce?
Guess that ankel wasn't hurting too much if he can go and make a video? I mean really, promoting his production company after a tough road loss, how about Bruce promoting his butt to the bench for good. the guy wouldn't even be here if his daddy wasn't Orlando.

Funny I was thinking the same thing. I'm guessing he wore that to his interview, and Hamilton thought he has a Costner Bull Durham winner kind of feel.
Since when did TN become a stepping stone to other programs?

yes since last spring
How long ago was the Manning / Woodson thing? Why don't we cry about Notre Dame every year too since Majors got screwed over as well?
Why is Adams always spinning negative s***, oh because that’s all he does. Instead of saying "man, we busted our butt to get into a bowl and all those practices will be paying off for such a young team", we bring up the ghosts of the past, let it go!
Thats what happens when you over charge for football tickets and reduce the bbstaff pay by 25%. Good work UT!
I don't know why everyone keeps saying that we need to get Richardson? That guy is prep or JUCO bound, seems to me he has no chance to quailfy, especially if you have to tranfer to an "easier" highschool to pass.
By the way he will not have played ball in almost a year if he even makes it to campus.
"The Tennessee men's basketball team managed to stay in the Associated Press Top 25 rankings despite its embarrassing 79-64 exhibition game loss to Division II Indianapolis a week ago"
If an exhibition game doesn't count (I.E. the word EXHIBITION), why would it effect the poll rankings?
Hey Alvin Tool,
I think you need to lay off the PCP. Allen was a stretch when he was drafted in the 1st round, and has never been that good. Sorry your boyfriend got cut but thats the way it goes in the NFL.
in response to CatScratchFever: (This comment was removed by the site staff.)
in response to CatScratchFever:
Your right considering that they won't fall in the rankings this doesn't count, not like a loss to Gardner Webb does. Short memories I guess?
I guess they didn't watch us play Alabama this year or 2 years ago. Happens to everyone when you're not any good.
I know Simms held on to the ball too long, but he was playing a pretty good game. SC's secondary is one of the worst in the SEC, so as long as the line could keep them upright, the fact that they were able to get the ball to the WR's isn't that big of a surprise.
One of the biggest problems I saw was #17 - Brewer, I haven't heard anything about how bad that guy played. I watched him take the worst angles I have ever seen against Jeffrey's TD, and Lattimore's long run. That guy takes a good angle Jeffrey doesn't score.
This was the type of game I expected to see all year, young mistakes, atleast we had 11 on the field the whole game.(I think?)
