Written on Adams: No joking for Kiffin :

I had posted this comment below earlier regarding a seperate story, but it looks as though there may be a shift in attitude based on this article. I hope that is the case, but some of the topics I have mentioned in my previous post still hold water (obviously, in my opinion).

This site is an absolute joke! I come on here and read about Dave Hooker's prognostications regarding recruiting, which are usually incorrect and at this point, he has no credibility with me whatsoever. I also have read biased and morose stories from John Adams that make me sick to my stomach. And finally, those that have commented on these pitiable stories are usually fans of the opposition (those fans know exactly who I am talking about and I propose that everyone who visits this site who is a proud UT supporter, please suggest for their posts to be removed because they have no business posting comments on a University of Tennessee news site). I will give the KNS – minimal credit – on being timely with regards to posting few stories that are deemed "newsworthy." However, my feeling is that there needs to be some major housecleaning on this website! We can use our head coach, Lane Kiffin, as an example.

Written on Pearl says Vols need sense of urgency:

in response to The_Mayor:

All I know is Bruce Pearl skating on mighty thin ice, buddy.

I can't stand fans like you. Thin ice? What are you talking about? Duh...

Kiffin!!!

Written on Walls says he's sticking with UT:

It's STILL GREAT TO BE A TENNESSEE VOL!!! Marlon already sounds like a true leader which we so desperately need. I'm also touched and inspired by his commitment to Tennessee.

We have a fallen hero in Knoxville and he has set the standards for Tennessee football even higher than his predecessors have before his time due to his more than impressive body of work and 17 years of dedicated service to the University of Tennessee in Phillip Fulmer. We shall ALL miss him because WE are ALL true Volunteers.

It is now time for change, for a new dawn, a new way of Tennessee football inspired by a new coach who will undoubtedly respect and honor those traditions and trademarks left like fingerprints by those men who were proud to wear the orange of Tennessee; players and coaches alike.

In my opinion, this recruiting class will be extremely significant and the Vol Nation will recognize them both now and in the future for their true dedication to this university and their future achievements.

And for those that embarrass the true Vol Nation by putting-down our coaches, our players and the rest of us who defend them, all of you are no worse than those recruits that have committed to this great university and have decided to go elsewhere; you must all go elsewhere with them. You are the ones that leave games early. You are the ones that have shown apathy for this university. You are the ones that don’t deserve the right to be called a TRUE Tennessee Volunteer. When all else fails, you are the ones that jump ship like cowards!

It’s time for those who have truly dedicated themselves to this proud institution, during good times and in bad, to take-back Neyland Stadium and create an environment that no team ever wants to step foot in! It’s time to support all of those who have made the commitment to be Tennessee Vols from this day forth! And more importantly, IT’S TIME TO START WINNING AGAIN, BECAUSE THAT IS WHAT MAKES US TRUE TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS!!!

Written on Hamilton seeking integrity, salesmanship in coach :

Everyone needs to read this! Tell me that Kiffin doesn't fit what we are looking for in a head coach, and keep in mind that USC has far worse facilities than UT does (in terms of recruiting). Also, don't forget that he still won four games (which is respectable) with Oakland as a head coach and he's young (see Mike Shanahan as Raiders head coach).

Under Kiffin in 2005 the USC offense produced school records in virtually every dimension, averaging 49.1 points and 579 yards per game. USC’s potent offense that season became the first in NCAA history to have a 3,000 yard passer (Matt Leinart), two 1,000 yard rushers (Reggie Bush & LenDale White), and a 1,000 yard receiver (Dwayne Jarrett). Steve Smith fell a few yards short of also surpassing 1,000 yards in receiving. With an all new offensive cast at the skill positions and in what was generally viewed as a rebuilding year for USC the offensive totals fell off to 30.5 point, and 391 yards per game, and 11 wins overall, he was promoted to offensive and recruiting coordinator while continuing as the wide receivers coach. In Kiffin’s three years as recruiting coordinator at USC, the Trojans had the No. 1 ranked recruiting class in college football every year. Under Kiffin leadership in 2006, the Trojans finished first in the Pac-10 in passing efficiency by averaging 142.8 yards per game, produced two, 1,000-yard receivers - Dwayne Jarrett (1,105) and Steve Smith (1,083) - and a 3,000-yard passer John David Booty, with 3,347 yards. Injuries affected the team all year as three fullbacks went down to major injury by the third game of the year, several freshman running backs rotated as starting tailback, and wide receiver Dwayne Jarrett missed parts of the mid-season due to injury. Despite these losses and key injuries the team produced top 20 statistics in most NCAA offensive categories and concluded with an impressive 32-18 win over the then #3 ranked team the University of Michigan in the Rose Bowl.
