VOLS 47...I think you are dreaming, Gators are loaded with cat-quick super players...we don't have talent to play with those guys, They could have beaten Hawaii IOO to 0, if they wanted to. I wish you were right.

Some of you guys don't get it...This Vol team does not have the talent we all thought...a lot of this talks come from which I was told were students after having more than enough spirits to drink. I think this kind of talk on this internet sparked the "We're loaded with great talent", talk made folks not look at reality. Its like a boxer I once knew who entered the the ring and his opponent knocked him out cold with the first punch of the fight. His manager told his fighter that he was nailed by a lucky punch. The manager said " we'll make some adjustments so you won't get nailed again". The second fight the same thing happened all over again, the boxer was again knocked cold by the first punch. His manager told his fighter the adjustments didn't work, we'll have to try some more adjustments. The fighter responded by saying "what do you mean we"?

GUYS, I hate to say this but it in my studied opinion..we are in for a looog season. For example, South Carolina is much improved..their defense is vastly improved..their overall team speed could make them dark horse in East. Vandy took apart a scrappy Ohio University team away. Ohio game was pick-em. Kentucky may have one of two or three best defenses in Country...Pro scouts from pro teams were at the Louisville game to take a gander at Wildcats' Front four. Of the four, who are big and fast..at least two of them are being considered as Pro first rounders..by far best Kentucky defense in their history...One of the prospects crashed thru the line picked a fumble and ran it back 64 yards fot TD. He weighs 310 pounds> Louisville offensive line unable to block the Cats' four down linemen who dominated game....The Vols could finish 4-8 easily. Hope not, but future looks dim.

HOLD ON GUYS; First of all, this internet blabbing between us does not tell the whole story. Its apparent that this team was void of the talent we were lead to believe we had. At no time did Fulmer ever say this year's team will be better...he was very careful and cautious when asked that question. Now, regardless, of what you might think of coach Chavis, he ducked questions when asked if his defense would be improved from last year.....AT NO TIME did either coach claim they had the talent most of us thought they had. This what is called "JUMPING TO FALSE CONCLUSIONS"', The truth is, we did not have first class talent to begin with. I ask you to consider this: WE WERE STARTING A QB for first time, who did as we feared,"had that look of a deer caught in car headlights", or as if I00 mile an hour freight train had ran past him and barely missed. He never settled down to consistant play. The play calling was horrible by a new offensive head coach, who brings up question marks. In defense of Crompton, he was placed in the wrong position at QB, he, in no way form or fashion, is athletic enough to play QB., in the SEC. Whoever recruited him for QB., should find another vocation. THE POINT I am trying to make is that we Volunteer fans were hoodwinked into thinking and believing that we were loaded with top talent. We are not as talented as we thought, we are not AND NEITHER COACH FULMER OR COACH CHAVIS CLAIMED WE HAD TOP TALENT THIS YEAR. THIS INNTERNET we all love so much was loaded with people who had no idea of what they were talking about...AGAIN FULMER NEVER AT ANYTIME SAID WE WERE LOADED WITH TALENT.

Many think that Vols poor showing took Georgia out of the Number #1 slot and replaced it with S0. CAL....The Bulldogs dropped to second.

Volstuck..If trojans drill Bruins what does that make the SEC and Vols look like. In reality, the Bruins have one of the best defenses in nation...the trojans are likely to be stuck into a rugged grudge match. UCLA has much better talent than was thought. Plus, two clever coaches like Rick and Chow. I read where Chow is happy man, back home with his family in home on the beach, only a twenty minute drive to UCLA campus.

NOW HOLD ON A MINUTE. Coach Fulmer was never quoted as saying this team was loaded with great talent in the first place. IT WAS FANS ON THIS INTERNET who built the Vols into a monster. Time after time, many fans on this internet, wrote outlandish commentaries on how great the Vols were gonna be. They predicted time after time, blowout wins for the Vols. They bought the talk about UCLA being a helpless MASH unit. C'mon, admit it. Knowledgeable football fans were leary of playing the Bruins in the Rose bowl. They were aware of Vols' past poor play in California and history doesn't lie. The unvarnished truth is the Vols talent was suspect to begin with. The reality of the situation is that did not have near the talent Vol fans thought they had. At no time did coach Chavis say the Vol defense would definately be better this year. In fact he ducked the question. This should have told Vol fans something. Saggrin, the football math expert picked the Bruins to win in a close game. So we guys are more to blame for blowing up the Vols talent....which did not exist. Many of the Vol players were from good to medicore. In other words many of them stunk up the joint. If you had read what Rick, the UCLA coach let slip out of his mouth, when he " If we stay close for three quarters, we have good chance to win the game". He knew Vols talent was overblown, His comments proved he was right....Now Chow has a mansion on the beach...when he was with the Titans as coach, his wife stayed in California, she did not care to live in the Volunteer state. Chow lived his years with Titans in a downtown Hotel room in Nashville. Now let's be fair Vol fans..nobody hurts more than I do, but we overloaded our internet with how great the Vols were...did we not?

On Adams: Hangover from UCLA loss will linger

Posted on September 3 at 1:05 p.m.

To thoughtful longtime Vol fans after time to think about it....first place UCLA COACHES created the false notion that UCLA was a hopeless MASH unit...AND VOL fans were led to think and rejoice in happy talk how great this year's Volunteer team was going to be...But the truth hurts, our players were over-rated..we did not have as much talent as we were expecting, although, we were breaking in a really unknown, QB, new offensive coach who had never coached in big time football..and other staff changes. The truth is the UCLA COACHES when complaining about a plague of injuries never mentioned their defense. This was part of the same UCLA defense that year before last stopped cold a great SO. Cal., in one of the upseats of the decade-13-9. The UCLA defense manhandled our offensive line, and got stronger in the middle of the third quarter...our QB looked as if he had never played the game before...our wideouts, receivers, are you kidding me? THE sad truth is the talk about our talent turned out to be a myth. This gives fodder for SEC critics to lay that the SEC is vastly over-rated. The loss hurt Vols and the SEC.
