Boyd was recruited for UT's new fad, the Clawson spread offense, not the more traditional power I formation that Kiffin wants to employ. I think smart HS QB's will figure out that for every Vince Young type success, there are far more NFL opportunities for a drop back, pocket passer who can scramble to evade the rush, not running for yardage as a steady diet. That should serve UT recruiting well in the long run, ditto at tailback.

On Boyd pulls commitment to UT

Fulmerites go home, where someone may (may mind you) care what the he-- you think. Fulmer dragged this once proud program down to it's current level, no one else was responsible for the decline since 2001. Get your eyes and brains checked, as you obviously haven't been paying attention for 7 years. Kiffin will bring new enthusiasm, energy and hopefully discipline. Chavis was well respected but he kept Slade around, who was the most worthless "coach" in the entire conference. Too many opposing QB's probably have Slade on their Christmas card list for his give away "prevent defenses", which Chavis and Fulmer had to have agreed with or it wouldn't have become a UT staple over the years. Face the facts, Fulmer and his coaches simply didn't have it takes to field a championship caliber team anymore. The facts are indisputable. Here's hoping Kiffin and his group bring a new energy and can do attitude to Tennessee football.

On Kiffin wastes no time

Fulmer could ruin Tom Brady and Peyton Manning without Cutcliffe to stop his interference. Rotating quarterbacks like he did on Saturday was the worst example of disrupting a team's (little) rhythm that I have ever seen. Fulmer has dragged this football team down to depths that few could imagine possible. If Crompton plays another down at Tennessee there should be an internal investigation to find out what invisible power he is wielding, cause he is the sorriest excuse for a college quarterback this side of pee wee football.

On Quarterback situation still muddled

This collapse was years in the making, Fulmer bears full responsibility for not putting the program above himself. Blame Hamilton if you must, but Fulmer is the one person above all who created this mess and then leaves the players, school and fans to deal with it (while he counts his money). I agree with those who said a bad season or two is a price worth paying for a coach who comes in here and is truly dedicated to the good of the program above his self-allegiance.

Typical Fulmer, the hell with the team, he will do what he wants to do no matter the consequences. His consistent history in playing his favorities over talent has a lot to do with his less than mediocre record given the talent UT has had to work with.

On Crompton to start against Vanderbilt

I think you can make a logical case that keeping Fulmer until the end of the season is bad for recruiting. The fact that he is possibly (deservedly) on the way out will create too much uncertainty for many top recruits, and his troubles are national news, not just GoVols blogs. At least an interim coach would signal the university will no longer tolerate a mediocre football team, which I think has to be the biggest deterrent to top notch players.

On Fulmer increasing light contact in practices

Phillips was surprised when Bowden offered to walk away in midseason.

"There wasn't a gun to his head," Phillips said.

"He put it on the table for the sake of the program," Imagine that, a coach with integrity who places team above self. That sure as hell isn't Fulmer, unfortunately for all of us.

On Bowden, Spence out at Clemson

Fulmer said, "‘Hey, I did my best.’ That’s the staff, and that’s me and that’s everybody else.” BS!!! Some of the players certainly did, but the coaching sucked once again.

Speaking of player efforts, anyone else notice the right tackle (or was it Foster) on the first play of UT's last series give up on his block after a preliminary push, stopped contact and let the Georgia defender smash Stephens?

On top of all the inexcusable motion penalties this year, their obvious lack of adequate effort with run blocking and mediocre pass blocking says volumes about "not doing their best". Foster has no business being out then instead of Creer or Hardesty.

Fulmer is in his own private universe and it is a very sad one. Hamilton will have to do the right thing and fire Fulmer as Fulmer is obviously going to keep on dragging this team down no matter how poorly they are playing.

On Fulmer tells players to say 'I'm not quitting'

Posted on October 11 at 7:12 p.m.

Down by 9 in 4th quarter, chooses to punt on 4th and 1, then goes into Chavis/Slades patented "bend but don't break" soft defense so Georgia can eat up 11 minutes and drive down the field and lock up the win. Our coaches collective IQ has to be right down there with one celled protoplasm. Fulmer is an idiot, he practically guaranteed a Georgia win. I should quit watching for the rest of the year, it is too fxxxxxxx painful. Fulmer must truly hate UT football to keep pushing it down to this abysmal level.

UT hasn't played a screen pass well all season, that means Chavis is NOT doing his job, Majors perception to the contrary. Damn shame, players seem to be playing with effort, too bad they have to drag the anchors we have coached around. Fire Fulmer Now! Do not wait until the 2nd Quarter!
