I thought she started as a tight end, but now she's listed a wide receiver.

Written on Adams: Receivers dropping like passes :

Growing pains. Nothing more. We are a better passing team than a year ago. We will be better still by the end of the season.

Jason Allen begs to differ.

Written on Adams: Competition gives offense a head start :

I must say, John Adams, I have considered you to be a complete tool for several years, but now Fulmer is gone you have been writing some decent stuff. In fact, it seems you have become one of the most 'pro- UT' writers out there.

This is a welcome change and on that should help your career and the KNS' readership.

All aboard the Lane Train!

Written on David Reaves' personality asset in many ways :

Reaves has a lot to prove. One could argue that he is the fulcrum upon which this whole experiment balances...

Written on Adams: Signee not good for UT's new image :

I think this is a balsy move on the part of Kiffin. He must really believe in this kid.

Written on Catholic's Hood signs with Tennessee:

This kid could have run away from his past in relative anonymity. Instead he chose to follow his dream and confront the court of public opinion. Good Luck, Daniel.

Written on Strange: Coleman part of typical transition game :

NOLA you are making the assumption that the situation with Sawtelle and Coleman are the same. Do you know that they are in fact parallel? Second, Coleman didn't Coleman meet with Kiffin and Reaves on Wednesday and then request a second meeting when he did not get the answer he wanted? Perhaps I am mistaken, but I believe that is how it went down.

My read is that Kiffin didn't see Sawtelle contributing, so he gave him a way out; in the case of Coleman, Kiffin did not feel ready to name a starter at QB and Coleman could not accept that. Not the same.

I don't know BJ personally, but by all accounts he is a fine, upstanding young man. In the end, he through a temper tantrum and demonstrated poor character by making a private situation very public.

Even if the coaches thought that BJ was the man they have the right to withold that announcement until after the off-season if they feel it will improve their chances at securing a commitment.

Go Vols.

Written on What does Coleman's departure do to QB race?:

Anyone who calls Coleman humble after that 10+ minute rant to the TFP is just plain wrong.

Written on Kiffin on Coleman: Wish he would have stayed:

in response to VolsR4real:

I didn't think any of the 3 QBs were great at the O&W game, but I thought Coleman would be the starter against WK. There goes that theory. Good luck BJ

Written on B.J. Coleman’s departure may signal end:

He quit, plain and simple.

If he was the best he would be the starter come fall.

Bonehead move.

Written on Kiffin on Coleman: Wish he would have stayed:

Unbelievable rant!

I wish BJ the best and all, but honestly he isn't as good as he thinks he is. He really sounds like a spoiled brat. Obviously he only listens to those who blow sunshine up his buttons.

I believe he would have won the job eventually. If there was some gamesmanship going on for the sake of the recruits or to bolster the confidence of the other QBs (a ploy used to perfection by Cutcliffe with Ainge, by the way) then so be it; that is the prerogative of the staff.

I think this was a really stupid move on Coleman's part, and I do believe it will hurt the Vols. But I guess if he (or his dad) doesn't believe in the system, which he obviously doesn't, then he needs to move on.

Written on Adams: Honesty best policy for recruits (don't forget harsh) :

Nice tabloid journalism: "Kiffin basically told him it probably would be best for all concerned if Thigpen never came back." Is that really what happened, John? DO you honestly have any idea? The answer is no, you don't because the new regime doesn't give a phooey about you or the KNS.

Fulmer did not prompt the players to be mad at the University. He was forced out. The players can see that. Looks like you're going to have to find a new person to blame, Sauderman.

Written on Stephens shows teammates he can get it done :

in response to fedupvol:

Bench Foster permanently just like crompy ...hardesty/creer/poole....pf just trying to get him a record that means nothing given his reputation for losing games over the years...who cares.....this whole year is a disaster...just like a hurricane...need to start cleaning up the mess now, not after season over!

fedup- I respect your opinion and have a suggestion for you:

http://vucommodores.cstv.com/sports/m...

Give your tickets to some kids who love the vols.

Written on Hamilton talked to Fulmer about potential of Stephens impact:

There attendance for this game was higher than for UAB. The energy was great. Contrary to some predictions, tickets were not abundant outside the stadium. There were obviously a lot of kids and people who usually don't get the chance to go to games there looking for tickets. There was more of a sellers market for tickets at this game than for the Arkansas game last year. The boos where surprising but significantly softer than in previous games. In fact, the boos at the end of the first half were partially drowned out by cheers from exuberant fans in the north end zone who were cheering their vols into the tunnel. For those of you that were too high and mighty to attend, you missed a fun game.

Written on Josh McNeil, center for the University of Tennessee Volunteers, talks about the candid shot taken by:

Busted! I credit the guy for an honest response. At least he manned up instead of waiting until he was able to watch the film.

Written on Fulmer in no rush to name starting QB :

"He was a good leader," Stephens said of Ainge. "People looked up to him. He wasn’t a leader by being loud or being vocal.
Intersting that Ainge buddied up to Stephens and not Crompton. I wonder if John is 'loud and vocal?'

Written on Fulmer: Crompton, Stephens to split practice time:

I'm hoping 'up for competition' is media speak for 'planning to start Stephens,' maybe it's just a way for Phil to allow Jon to save some face. Let Stephens and Coleman play vs. NIU and if they are ineffective, let Crompton come in and [try to] be the hero.

BTW, if I'm not mistaken, Leavitt started the program at USF and is the only HC they have ever had. From what I read during last year's 'replace Fulmer episode, he sounds like he would be pretty hard to supplant from that situation.

Written on Report card: Tennessee vs. Auburn:

in response to TommyJack:

I knew the large one would lay that fumble on Foster's doorstep. Ridiculous.

On the replay it was quite evident that Crompton let go of the football before the ball touched Foster, elbow or otherwise. The fumble was not Foster's fault, period.

Written on Fulmer says 'we didn't all of a sudden get stupid as coaches':

in response to Striker:

Fulmer keeps bragging about that record. He has something like a 10-19 record against the major coaches in the conference, most of which own him, Shiny Pants Steve has padded those numbers due to his tenure at Carolina.

Written on Adams: Attrition tightening SEC ranks :

So, what you're trying to say is that our opponents' injuries makes us better? What about staff changes, coaching, and the hard work of the players? Could it have anything to do with our off-season training changes, or maybe our practice regimen? Give credit where credit is due you big ninny.

Written on Jones helped Berry hone press-coverage skills :

John Adams, you are important and all-knowing, can you use your special powers to help free Gerald Williams?

Written on Vinson, Langley won't make trip to UCLA after violating class attendance policy:

Good move, Coach. Well played. This must have been what the chatter was earlier this summer about an acedemic problem in the D backfield. A lot of people were afraid it was D- Mo again. This also explains the 3rd string issue for Vinson. Let's take care of business, fellas, and beat the Bruins!

Written on Play or redshirt? UT to use most of class:

I've been saying it since the Spring Game- Tauren Poole is an impressive back! He and and Austin Johnson were great recruits- regardless of rating- for the following reasons 1. They are physically ready for the SEC 2. They fill an immediate need and 3. They had the smarts to get their schooling wrapped up early so they could enroll in the spring, thus practically affording them an 'extra' freshman year. I expect we'll hear a lot from these two this year.

Written on Ward knew 1998 Vols were special :

John Ward played a big part in my becoming a Tennessee fan. How could one ignore his passionate, distinctive call of the game? Each broadcast put the current game into the context of Tennessee and Southeastern Conference football history. You knew by listening to him that this was his life. He made you want to make it your life, too. It was so fitting that his final season was the National Championship season; that made it all the more special for us all.

I'm not making any bold predictions, but I have a very special feeling about this season, too! Go Vols!

Written on Poole not in over his head :

Something about the way Poole carries the ball reminds me of Travis Henry. Me likey.

Written on Running, and scoring, are issues in UCLA's scrimmage:

I heard it somewhere recently that UCLA's gameplan was to scheme things to make us one dimensional. My guess is that they are going to play aggressive D (really their only stregth) and make us pass the ball. For those who think we have it make because their offense is struggling for cohesion, remember we are unproven on offense, and although we have a veteran O-line, we did struggle to run the ball at times last year.

Having said that, I think we'll kill 'em.

Go Vols!
