Written on Tyler Bray shut out at NFL draft, but Mychal Rivera lands with home-state team:

Tyler ol' son, what can I say to alleviate the pain and embarrassment that this here Saturday night brings to your threshold..? Please don't take it a personal dissing to being immature in a role at Tennessee that maybe should have been approached more like a grown up than a kid. All I've got is thanks for winging it Atop Rocky and good luck wherever you land doing whatever you do. The phone may yet ring but don't wait up tonight. You need your rest...

Written on Robert Morris stuns Kentucky in NIT, 59-57:

Thank you Kentucky for stinking it up in the NIT...Hope it carries forward. Go Robert Morris.

Written on John Adams: Pro Day isn't all about business:

An interview....a job. Do what you will with your new found money. Fleeting as it is, best of luck to all Volunteers in the Bigs and wishing you all the best...

Written on Tennessee left in the hands of the committee, but Cuonzo Martin thinks his team deserves to be in:

in response to notfunanymore:

Other than Florida, name one decent win? When they needed an absolute must win, they choked as usual. They are pathetic. How Martin can still have a job is beyond belief. I guarantee and promise you, UT is headed to the NIT....and that will be one and done.

Shoot, half the field will be One and Done. Gives you a 50-50 shot at getting this right...

Written on John Adams: Vols lost their desperate edge when they needed it most:

in response to Razor784:

I don't think they lost their edge, they played hard, the shots just weren't falling. It was just one of those days.

Yeah. It was one of those days. Dadgumit, we saw a few, really just a few too many of one of those days this season. It's now in the hands of the NCAA conclave. I will not be surprised either way with the outcome.

Written on Vols celebrate 64-62 victory against Missouri on Senior Day:

With at least a Thursday win, Tennessee is in unless the NCAA conclave has it 'in' for UT. The Georgetown debacle looms big but to beat ranked SEC opponents and the reigning NCAA champs in the regular season is huge. I'll go out on a limb and say UT is in at at least a 13 seed...No matter the NCAA conclave, a very good year and am proud of this team. GBO...

Written on Robert Gillespie hired as Tennessee's new running backs coach:

A sign hangs in my hovel which reads, 'I chose the road less traveled and now I don't know where the he11 I am...' Mr Gillespie, in case you've lost your bearing, you're now Atop Rocky. Welcome. Thanks for coming...

Written on John Adams: Losing Jay Graham is more than just losing a running backs coach:

JA : Sorry, but I take issue when what's at stake is building back Tennessee and then bringing flipping racial crud to appease the weak brains hung up on diversity numbers and making wrong a right, or is that the other way around..? The right man for the job can be rainbow colors for all I care. Let's move this topic into the 21st century. Just get the job done. Be that as it may, I hate seeing Graham leave.

Written on Mike Strange: Suddenly, beating Texas A&M is a big deal:

Beating all-comers is kinda what it's all about. Be that as it may, would be a great road win as all road games are forever hanging in the balance prior to tip. GBO

Written on John Adams: It may turn heads, but Nick Saban's speaking gig in Athens (Tenn.) a hot ticket :

Will Saban soon be asked to sing the National Anthem at the next Super Bowl..? Strange days indeed.

Written on With first class, Butch Jones and staff worked overtime to build relationships :

Insofar as it goes, the press doesn't have much to go on to date re : Hammering CBJ. Give 'em time. There will be some rocks to overturn. Here's to hoping CBJ can keep it one, no make that three steps ahead of the poison pen... We will all reap the benefits.

Written on Vols blow out Kentucky, 88-58:

Odds are usually never favorable for the winner after a smack down of this magnitude over a percieved better. Hope that the intensity stays high but for the day, ride that wave and GBO. Great win...

Written on Former UT football player Dennis Rogan arrested :

Maybe Eric Berry and Peyton Manning could do a class/seminar for CBJ in the future on 'Not Being Stupid, Today and Tomorrow'. Make it mandatory 101 stuff for incoming athletes...Wish the best for Rogan et al.

Written on John Adams: The next recruiting class for Butch Jones is crucial, and the clock is ticking :

Be that as it may, good insight and accurate analysis from JA. Going forward, tomorrow is another day...

Written on John Adams: The next recruiting class for Butch Jones is crucial, and the clock is ticking :

notfunanymore cannot see the forest through the trees. He/She is hung up in The Land That Time Forgot but to his/her credit, he/she speaks from the heart of one that's been jilted somewhere along the line. Optimism is a character trait of the ones called fans and to sit back comparing apples to Sabans (or whatever) is like diminishing fact from fiction. The Berry twins are amongst the ones lurking in the future and the future is an unknown quality/quanity, unless you have the brain of one notfunanymore...GBO

Written on Vols flip Brown from Syracuse:

To have the skill sets out of high school is a plus, no doubt. But as in life, these kids will grow, mature and with the right strength training, conditioning etc and believing in not only themselves but the TEAM and all that surrounds it, it may just be the beginning of something beautiful. (key word : Beginning) Only the nay-saying negative Nellies will disagree, ahh but alas, seems the world is full of 'em nowadays...If you're looking for a quick football fix and the chance to get national love, follow the money. You'll know you're getting close when the asphalt turns to gravel roads and the sign says, 'Sabanville 89 miles'.

Written on Kenny Hall won't be suspended following arrest:

Written on Top 25 class is possible for Butch Jones with a strong finish:

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE:

That's what they said this weekend..However, these young athletes change their minds faster than my wife trying to decide which outfit to wear on our night out.

Smart woman going out with you in the dark of night instead of the bright of day...just kidding, just kidding.

Written on Former Tennessee coach Derek Dooley confirms he is going to the Dallas Cowboys :

Well, how about that, Sports Fans..? As the legal mind that he is, I'm surprised he didn't offer to become Bryant's agent instead. Easier money and the hours are terrific. Good luck to him...

Written on Tennessee governor says Vols must fill Neyland:

in response to SevenT:

UT is desperaate to sell tickets. I would suggest mixing it up and offering some halftime entertainment like:

wrestling
tractor pull contest
monster truck show
RV and Boad displays

Anything that will distract the fans from that awful team

Just Saying

How's Honey Boo Boo and Mama June..? Thanks for the wonderful suggestions, Sugar Bear.

Written on Tennessee governor says Vols must fill Neyland:

Coast to coast, fans react to the reality of the day. The burden of proof isn't on the ticket buyer, it's on the ticket taker. Results breed $$$ and if that's where the Guv has set his feet then I pray for all good things in the great state of Tennessee...

Written on John Adams: Don't hang your hat on recruiting decisions, they are tough on fans :

If Obama had a son, I'd hope he'd fall in love with Honey Boo-Boo and spend their time in woo squashing pennies on the train tracks...

Written on Trent Taylor, who was dismissed by UT, arrested on drug charge :

in response to SevenT:

Whatever happened to the Fulmer Cup? I guess nothing

Last I heard it was sitting in the trophy case in Gainesville...

Written on UT tells students not to paint Rock to welcome recruits:

Dang that 'Free Speech' thing...makes me wonder why we kicked General Gage off Boston Island. Well, it ain't the 18th Century any more...or is it..? GBO

Written on Derek Dooley to offer recruiting commentary on ESPNU's National Signing Day coverage :

He'll make a great 'Talking Head'. Really. Maybe find his forte. While he did do some good Atop Rocky, he tended to alienate the program from it's past, i.e. the Lettermen (overall). I await with bated breath his assessment on NSD...Meanwhile, I've got this fictious girlfriend that loves me dearly and I worry she'll not see tomorrow...GBO

Written on Florida lineman Jessamen Dunker charged with stealing scooter:

in response to DeltaCharlie3:

As opposed to Tennessee, who really performed well in their bowl game. Oh, wait...

Not having the opportunity to be embarrassed vs being embarrassed builds character for the embarrassed, right..? The Gators ought to be LOADED with character instead of characters.

Written on Vols football records 2.49 GPA in fall semester :

Averages. It's a simple game of overall statistical mumbo-jumbo. Individuals make up these stats, some better than the average, some worse. Congrats to those receiving their degrees.

Written on New SEC coaches play catch-up in recruiting:

I'll count my chickens (and them and theirs) come NSD. Best of luck CBJ

Written on Cowboys hire Monte Kiffin to replace Rob Ryan:

The tell-tale signs the Mayans spoke of are coming to pass. Now, if Layla leaves him for Jimmy Kimmel, I'll head to Mayanville and pray to their calendar...btw, have a nice trip to Texas Monte but watch out for the tumbleweeds. They'll knock the legs right out from under of you...

Written on John Adams: Dual-threat quarterbacks helpful for duels in the SEC :

Does one build it's offense around it's QB or vise versa..? Mobility in a QB is a necessity be it a Pocket QB or a moving target QB. The Wildcat formation has basically died in the vine as it is shown to be one dimensional so to have a guy that can go get 5-10, throw and use his head has an onboard computer (e.g Hawkins) instead of a battering ram (e.g. RB's) is a plus as long as he knows not to consistently take on defenses trained to behead those toting the melon...I accept the QB as being the most vital piece on the Chess Board with his blind side OL-men coming in 2nd. Moving on into Spring practice, what shall we see Atop Rocky..?

Written on Lady Vols use big second half to beat Georgia :

in response to CCLC:

Congrats UT! Looks like Tennessee still has Lander's number even with Coach Pat on the sidelines. Nice to see the Lady Vols working their way back to the top. Just wish it wasn't at the Lady Dogs expense. Enjoy your victory.

Nice comment and appreciated. We all know the road is a tough row to hoe and the real test for the Lady Vols will come in Athens against your Dawgs. Again, classy ccomment, CCLC. Maybe you made a New Years resolution..?

Written on John Adams: SEC will be chasing Bama again next fall:

On the contrary, going forward having Alabama on a yearly schedule is just what the Vols need. It's helped Vandy, Mississippi and Mississippi State elavate their game. Granted, I'd say those teams have >5% chance of beating Saban but Tennessee can elavate bigger than those guys. Texas A&M had a Johnny Football package this season and LSU, well, that's their own yearly dilemma...

Written on Quarterback Tyler Bray selects agent Don Yee :

Hmmm, my guess is one day, you'll find a Sugar Bowl of happiness.

Written on Quarterback Tyler Bray selects agent Don Yee :

Hey Florida, Thanks for showing up...

Written on Derek Dooley finds words for Twitter :

Rommel : A man that understood tactics but got no real help from Berlin. Hmm, I might see where this could go but in CDD's particular case, maybe someone at the top was right, unlike Rommel's boss, the little corporal, who thankfully was clueless as to how to field a football team...

Written on John Adams: Vols head up All-SEC NFL team :

in response to Witch_Doctors:

Witch Doctor say but they all have stolen Owners mannuals. lol. *Witch Doctor say during his heyday Fulmer was the best closer in the business as proof of who he put in the NFL.
Bones never lie.

CPF for sure, but Special Mention goes to Cut, Chavis, Sanders and the rest of CPF's staff over the years Atop Rocky (excluding Clawson)...WD et al, have a great New Years.

Written on John Adams: Vols head up All-SEC NFL team :

in response to movol77:

Every Vol was recruited and played under Fulmer. How is that? Wasn't the "great pumpkin" the lazy recruiter/coach that caused the TN demise? He was so bad.

Not to disagree with your assessment, but...CPF's last year, 2008. Kiffin coached/tried recruiting Tennessee in 2009, Dooley in 2010,2011 and 2012. Even I can do the math regarding earned greatness in the NFL...and when AJ Johnson goes Pro and makes this list please remember, he WANTED to be a Vol under CPF's watch but didn't waiver through the Hamilton debacle of coaching musical chairs. Com'on, Manning's recruitment came due to Cut and Daddy, Berry due to genetics, Colquitt's likewise, etc...etc. Ahhh, what I'd give to get a Walsh under Jones.

Written on Phillip Fulmer to be inducted into Chick-fil-A Hall of Fame:

What a coincidence. Mike Hamilton will be inducted into the 'Athletic Directors DumAzz Inflated Ego Maniacs Association' today, too...

Written on John Adams: Bowl season heats up without UT:

in response to snowpeapod#263184:

I totally agree with your comment. Have you ever in your life seen anyone revel in UT's misery more than this clown? If possible, they should bar him from access to campus and/or player interviews.

Some would agree, others will disagree. Pull up JA's articles in the KNS the day after the Fiesta Bowl 1999 (Tennessee, 1998 BCS Champs) and tell me he doesn't call it as it IS, at least for someone that gets PAID to do so...Happy New Year to all.

Written on John Adams: Bowl season heats up without UT:

Note to Tennessee football fans et al, a quote from Winston Churchill : 'If you're going through he**, keep going.'...As always, GBO

Written on John Adams: Odds are against every SEC bowl opponent:

In a perfect world, I'd agree with JA but the one that spooks me the most is Clemson-LSU. If Clemson receivers have learned to hang onto to passes in the last two weeks that hit them in the numbers, LSU is in trouble. Otherwise,...go SEC

Written on David Climer: Time to give Derek Dooley some credit:

CDD also shut the door in the faces of past football Lettermen. Kinda stupid to close a door on guys that could help the program. CBJ has already thrown a small lucheon for Lettermen. Kinda smarter...

Written on John Adams: Fan mail contradicts negative posts :

There are times I address JA to disagree or agree with his storyline. It bothers me to see a small percentage of Tags that blast his every blog. Makes no sense but that's internet etiquite where some unknown faces wear a horizontal smile beneath their noses that must be covered if not kept clean...and JA, it's my wife not my mom that keeps me in the basement and yes, I pay rent..! I'll sign off using my real Irish/Native American name.

Cloud O'Dust

Written on Poll: What do you want most in your Vols stocking this Christmas?:

I'll take competitive athletics with the desire for Championships down the road. I'm thankful CBJ has opened the door to the Lettermen that CDD slammed in the face of those that played Atop Rocky. Lettermen are vital to our tomorrows and CBJ has welcomed them back. Thx, CBJ...Merry Christmas

Written on Report: Tyler Bray to enter the NFL draft :

in response to VFLVFLVFL:

Hmmm... raw talent??? yes... Doesnt always translate to wins. He does have a quick release and strong arm.. accuracy on short passes, horrible reads, and slow between the ears have been his problem.. I would have a hard time picking him over tee martin, or erik ainge.

Horrible reads..? Did you sleep through his time Atop Rocky or are you thinking he need not check down due to our (ahem) talent at WR..? I don't need to expound, but Bray had really good skills looking things over. At least, IMO

Written on Report: Tyler Bray to enter the NFL draft :

Expected. No surprise. Best wishes to Bray and Patterson.

Written on Tennessee WR Justin Hunter bound for NFL draft, while Ja'Wuan James says he'll be back :

It's not just the WR spot here. It's QB, D players, etc. CBJ is starting from scratch with a few good seasoned roosters. It's recruits looking for playing time with veteran coaches. It's building blocks. We're guaranteed nearly and almost 3 (good) years from the guys brought in. We fans gotta deal with the possibility that after 3, many move on. That's the cycle. Here's to hoping that when CBJ pulls the one-armed bandit, he gets three-of-a-kind across the board...consistenly.
