in response to AlpharettaVol: I once attended all the Big Orange Caravan stops in Atlanta but I haven't been in the past few years simply because my heart hasn't been in it. This year, however, my wife and I are looking forward to meeting and hearing Coach Jones in person. And as a bonus, it looks like CCM and CHW will also be there. Once again, the future of Bog Orange athletics looks bright. It's been tough living in Georgia recently.

in response to Mike_In_Storrs_CT: Have not been here for a while, but I do want to give congrats on your team for a fine season so far. Definately much more than I expected from your team. And I think we should all have give some congrats to Louisville in their unbeleivable upset of Baylor today. I still cant believe it, and I know darn well that you guys cant beleive it either. LOL. But it is what it is. Your coach really deserves a lot of credit for getting this team this far, Post Pat ERA. Who knows it might be Uconn vs Tenn again if things work out the proper way, But we still got to get by Notre Dame who has been a thorn in our side for 2 years now. I think we should be able to get by Kentucky OK. But not sure about Notre Dame. But again congrats on a fine season so far. In a weird kind of way its good to see Tenn. in the championship picture again, But you guys have to admit you owe Louiville a whole lot. But good luck.

in response to frblalack: Whomever named those in the picture should be excused from that duty. Totally wrong! Anyway I LOVE my Lady Vols & if Bashara, Taber & Ms Meghan(on & off) Simmons play their best we can beat anybody!!! Ms Simmons is probably the BEST player in college basketball when she plays teamwork! I think we're looking at a final four team! Don't forget Spani & Graves! Always Love my Tennessee Lady Vols!!! ps. I remember when Holly Warlick was the best player in women's college basketball!! Marcell Marciniak & Bridgett Gordon, & Chamique & Tamika & Sydney & Candace & Kara & the rest can only try to fill Holly's footprint. Holly was the embodiment of our Tennessee Lady Vols!!!If our players will play with the intensity of Holly Warlick, we will WIN the National Championship!!!

Pat was there in every way in the the choices she made in the coaching staff SHE put together and the players SHE recruited. Pat Summitt is and always will be the face of women's basketball. Here's a thought-Maybe she wanted this night to be Holly's and knew her presence would be a distraction. As I said before her reasons are hers and NONE of anyone else's business but hers!!

in response to PUL4VOLS: By the time some of you folk living in the past, bringing up this coach to that coach etc. comparing; get your heads out of the ditch, the 2013 season will be over and you will find something else to look back on and criticize the now. Now is what it is. Butch Jones is the Volunteer head coach. Everything remains to be seen how he will work out. So all who RAH RAH, GO BUTCH and all who think he is little more than the old BUTCH hair jelly(google that youngsters), have no idea how it will go. Keep on harping on 10th in the SEC in recruiting, see how that helps. Keep speculating and all that. Still the games will be played. We will all find out together how good the players are on the field in real time. Talent, well it is lacking in comparison to the top SEC programs. Who is surprised at that with all that has happened the past few years? That will not change overnight unless......OH I get it all the Grudenitis is setting in whereby many think if we just got the Chuckster, we'd..... REALITY: Chucky didn't want to come here. It seems he didn't want to coach anywhere. So keep up the blabber, keep bringing up the "NO LONGER OUR COACHES." It only shows your immaturity. Some of us cannot stand the "brass" and higher ups or their decisions. But guess what? It is not in our power to change that. So we support the team. You call it blindly. I call it with passion. Let's get behind this team, this coach and staff and stop all the mindless chatter and negativism.

in response to pcorange: You are a sorry SOB. I really wish that KNS would ban you from this site. You do a lot of boasting for a fan of a team that had enough star power talent to win the NC, but got drummed by Louisville. As far as coaching goes, I'll put our new coach up against Will Muschamp any way you want to stack 'em. Muschamp has zero control of his players and it shows in the way they conduct themselves on and off the field. Instead of chewing his players out for not executing his boneheaded call to open the second half of the Sugar Bowl and getting 30 yards worth of unsportsmanlike conduct penalties, he's gnawing on the referees for doing their job. Any decent coach would've blown his players' hair back over dirty play that costs his team a chance, not Muschamp. His team acts like a bunch of trash, so I can only assume that is an extension of him. I've got no respect at all for you, Will Muschamp, or the Florida Gators. You are all trash.

in response to BIVOLAR_BEARE: No doubt Petrino is using WKU to bolster his resume' and clean up his name. I give him two years tops before he leaves for greener pastures. Who's to say he wouldn't have used UT in a similar capacity. I think UT's decision to hire Jones was much better than hiring Tuberville or Petrino, and in time may prove to be the best hire since Majors or Fulmer.

in response to VolsFanInAfghanistan: WOW!!! Give someone a computer and google and they can run a football team. I know someone on here will call me a name or two and thats sad, but I thought this was a site for Vols fan to talk about our team. Theres so many positives and negatives about our team and staff right now. We won't know anything about them till they hit the practice field and work out the kinks. Some of you went online and watched videos of Cincinnati play or googled the pass coaches to see the types of defenses they ran or the positions they coached. Now for the life of me why is it that some of you think that we'll be that way as well. Why can't we recruit players that fit the system these coaches are bringing in and they wreck shop. So many of you say the rating system doesn't matter, all that matters is heart. Every program has its ups and down, defensively as well as offensively. The Martinez's and the Thigpen's of the college football world make mistakes just like every one of us do in our everyday lives. In football its called playing the odds. No one player is always going to get it right. When we recruit these kids to play football for us their eyes are so wide open to the speed of college football that mistakes are going to be made. So with that being said why can't we just wait to see the product we produce before we judge. Alabama got beat by Texas A&M does that mean Saban is a bad coach, no he and his staff had a bad day is all. Coach Jones was excited to be at Tennessee so of course he may have said things that to him seemed to be the best choice of words, but to all of us to truly believe he would put together the best staff in the country and some of you to believe it is beyond me. We all know that putting together the perfect staff is truly unimaginable in college football more so in the SEC. This may seem like a rant to some, but good gracious this is getting out of hand with the name calling. Lets all just look past the trolls that come on here to cause hate and wait it out till the recruiting is done and spring practice starts. P.S. To all you negative fans and trolls, its cold as HE double hockey sticks over here. How about you sprue some of that hot air over here to help keep us warm, hehehe. GBO VFL!!!

in response to MinisterOfDefense: Alright, thrunthru, I made a legitimate effort to be polite, reasonable, and kind dealing with you on the other thread that you put up this post. The only thing that you have proven is that there are some folks in this world you can neither be nice to, nor that you can reason with. I'll make this perfectly clear, shut the hate up, shut the bigotry up, and come back without the chip on your shoulder. It is not welcome, it is not polite, and you are guilty of the same thing you have decided to become so indignant about. I am one of the "rednecks" born "on a mountainside near Knoxville." I am also 25, an athlete, and have extremely close friends of most every ethnic background you can come up with. I am also well educated, well read, and sick of people like you cutting me, the people that make up much of family, people with my accent, and people from my home down. This world, let alone this message board, can do without your ignorance, hate, and bigotry. I am fine with the choice that Tee Martin made, and wish him the best. I am also fine with Vol fans feeling like he used the University to get a raise at SC, because that certainly looks like what it is. He would have to deal with this no matter the color of his skin. He made his choice, and I wish he and his family the best. I agreed with you that there were people on here out of line with their comments. YOU are one of those people. You are just as offensive as the people you are so angry about. Deal with that fact sir, however you choose to. P.S. Witch Doctor, thank you for your facts, insightful as always. Indeed, bones never lie.

in response to chrisvol4ut: UPDATE-HERE IS THE LATEST-Dave Hart has apparently been turned down by Larry Fedora, Butch Jones, and Al Golden. He was then turned down by every offensive and defensive coordinator in the SEC. He then approached Phil Fulmer and Dave Dooley about the prospects of coming back and was turned down. He apparently then tried to show cause and hire Jim Tressel and was turned down by the NCAA. He then contacted Bobby Petrino. He didn't actually speak to Petrino, but the girl who answered his phone turned us down for him. We were then turned down by all of the Bowden sons, Mike Shula and the guy from We Are Marshall. We don't yet know who will coach Wisconsin, but Dave Hart apparently also reached out to whoever he is going to be and he turned us down too. My sources tell me that John Calipari and Coach K have also turned us down. Dave Hart has also gauged interest from Joe Gibbs, Phil Jackson, Larry Brown and Barry Melrose. He says that when those leads all fell through he reached out to Brett Favre who has already told reporters that he will coach his local high schoool team in Hattiesburg pro bono before he would ever come to UT. Not sure where the search is going next...hold on a minute...my phone is ringing. Its an 865 area code. Ah nevermind. It might be Dave Hart. I'm not interested.

in response to hueypilot: In fact, given the expenses associated with a bowl, unless it's one of the top tier ones, a study a few years ago showed how schools like Vandy who typically don't go to a bowl, but share in the payout, actually come out ahead or at worst, even, by not going. Every cloud has a silver lining. I know I feel better.

in response to 15_counting: It is sad that Tennessee had such struggles on defense this year. While I'm a true Bama fan and have had my fair share of the UT/Bama rivalry poking fun back and forth I don't like seeing Tennessee struggle as they have this year. Don't get me wrong I never want to lose to Tennessee but it's much more fun when it's competetive. (Not as competetive as this past week in Baton Rouge however). I agree with an earlier post. Tennessee would be seeing different results with any defense at all!

in response to Theo: Fabulous news! This class may end up being one of our best ever. Quick notes on Jordan, slashing guard, quick first step, floor general, great athleticism. What a job the coaches are doing; Center, Wing and Guard. Beautiful distribution with absolutely top quality at every position.Regarding Climer - best to ignore. I'm shocked he even wrote about the Lady Vols. If it is not the titans or the predators they aren't covered in the tennessean. All of the sports writers/broadcasters now think they are big league because Nashville got pro sports. Trust me none of them would be hired into a big league city. Climer et al were just in the right place at the right time. At least we don't have Biddle anymore.Ugh, enough of that.Great day, great recruiting season for my favorite team. Welcome Jannah, Mercedes and Jordan! Along with the sophs/fresh the future is so bright for the Lady Vols it makes my eyes hurt!

Theo...you nailed it . Excellent post !
in response to Theo: Page four of the sports section in this morning's Tennessean. Normally wouldn't defend Climer et al but it was in there. Fairly large article.

in response to OrangeBloodFlood: Congrats Lady Vol Staff and WELCOME Mercedes.I never cease to be puzzled by those who come here to call names and as far as those posting comments about Football on a womens BB story.....get a life ! As a 60 cauc. male I'm often asked why I enjoy TN. womens BB so much......because they are almost always competitive and they play real basketball instead of a slam dunk contest. As for those of you who rant about the football stories in the Chatta.Times Free Press Newspaper.....I had to go online this morning to get news of Mercedes decision........NOT A WORD of the commitment of the nations No.1 recruit in the Chatta. paper. Too bad Title X didn't apply to journalism.Go Lady Vols !

in response to volfaninbuckeyeland: Just returned home and logged on right away to learn of her choice, and gotta admit, with all the heartbreaking disappointments involving UT football, I had honestly conditioned myself to expect Louisville to be the most fortunate beneficiary of her choice. I've long been a fan of Summit and the Lady Vol program, and while most, if not all, of the other athletic programs failed to achieve the ultimate prize, I could always count on LVBB to represent Tenn proudly. One of my favorite photos is a shot of my family with all of my grandkids at the '08 regional championship game in Dayton the week before they went to Cleveland and won it all. I want to extend a most heartfelt welcome to Mercedes, Jannah, and all of the other outstanding young women who have chosen, or are yet to choose, to carry on the proud tradition that is LVBB. What a grand affirmation of the current coaching staff's ability to seal the deal with the best of the bunch and here's to hanging another NC banner before I die!
