Maybe he has girlfriend problems. It can drive a man to drink and do worse things sometimes..
How wonderful.Just makes my day!!! Not really as I could care less.
I felt David should have been given a chance to be the UT athletic director prior to Hamilton and before Hart. Our loss would be a large gain for UTC.
Being a Vol fan and we are in the SEC...guess I need to pull for Florida..Man it is hard but will hold my nose and hope they win it all.
in response to HooRay_Vol: This would have been the year! A senior line with Bray, Hunter, Patterson and D. Rogers. Would have been the best offense in the SEC and with an improved defense possibly SEC champs. But this senior line will not disappoint and we will be much improved! Having an improved coach will also make a difference.

I agree with this comment with one exception....I think having an improved coach will make a HUGE difference.

Seems as if you have a difficult time knowing fact from fiction.
Keep marching to the beat of the same drummer.
What a wonderful award for a great person.Very much deserved. As a Johnson County native,I love to see local folks do well in thie world.I will pull for the Cowboys as long as you are a member of the team. Also am a Denver fan since Peyton is there.
It would be really hard for me pull for any team other than SEC in bowls. The exception is Vandy. Yes I will be pulling for Alabama....However VFL..
I just finished watching the press conference and just voted YES as the correct choice.Coach Jones really impressed me with his candid answers//VFL
I am 71 years old, attended UT in the the late 50s and have been a season ticket holder since 1966. I have seen both good and bad years. I have supported the team and the coach from Harvey Robinson to Dooley. I will support Coach Jones until,if and when,he proves to be a failure. He will be a winner until he proves himself other wise...VFL
This was expected.Arkansas got the coach greatly respected in the Big 10 from Wisconson..I STRONGLY expect our announcement will be comming in the very near future...All we can do is set tight and offer our support if we agree or disagree. VFL
No one seems to be aware of a dark horse candidate who could rise to the top if a few big name coaches reject us..Keep in mind the name of ....Darrell Hazell.Could be the answer to our needs.. Please don't laugh befor you do your research....VFL
in response to underthehill: I think UT went looking for Dooley..I don't think he went looking for UT..if there was a complete fraud..it is the ones who went looking..and you are right there were early signs Dooley would not be a great coach but fraud he was not...he took what he was offered and gave his best..it just wasn't good enough...I think there are far more early signs that Hart is incompetent than there was in Dooley's case..but that don't mean he is a fraud for taking what he was offered..I think a fraud is someone who takes things under false pretense..I don't think that happened..their record was available and how UT could hire Hart with his resume' indicates to me a total lack of reasoning..so blame the giver..not the taker..

My thoughts exactly. You are 100% correct. Now let us move on to the next chapter of UT football.GO VOLS!!!VFL
I also plan on attending the game Saturday to cheer for the Vols and show our respect for the Seniors. Although we live 150 east of Knoxville we do not feel this is the time to quit supporting the team.It will be cold but will dress to stay warm. Hope all our friends in Section M will keep it warm, loud amd crowded. Please all season ticket holders come out to show your support because now is when you are needed most.
in response to rb4346: So do I and I hope he also keeps Jay Graham and Sam Pittman on board.

100% agree..
I will not read this garbage but will assume what it says.. kiss my grits Nashville writer. This saga was over long before the Vandy game.Enjoy what little you have going now because it will be over much sooner that you expect.Remember who you are!!!!! VFL
I will pack up this old body and head out on a 150 mile journey to Knoxville this weekend. I really don't look forward to the cold weather and other distractions but feel I owe the senior class all the support I can offer.
I sure wish all of you would do the same. This is a tender time at UT and we all need to continue our support. Hope to see all my friends in section M we have made over the yearsso come on down.VFL
in response to UT_Braddah: Okay all of you classless, immature brats, go ahead and let us know what candidates you will find acceptable, so that the University can make sure you're happy with the hire. Because God knows, if you disagree with the hire the "culture of negativity" will only continue. Because, of course, you know exactly who should and should not coach this team. I love Dooley, and know he's a good man. But I agree he had to go. But some of you bums show absolutely no class or compassion for a GOOD MAN who took the job that none of your dream coaches would take, gave it his all, suffered some of the worst luck and toughest schedule imaginable, and demonstrated true character that you LACK and will never have. YOU have damaged this program with your classless negativity. What coach with other job opportunities would come here? What players with other opportunities will come here? My rant ain't about Dooley...he needed to go. I think he'll spend a few years as an assistant and then reemerge as a very attractive HC candidate. My post is about YOU...bunch of weak, classless, heartless, whining, ungrateful, unrealistic, spoiled, know-it-all, quitters.

You my friend are a gentleman and speak the truth. I have been a season ticket holder since 1966 and agree this is a huge mess but I blame only Mike Hamilton for our fate. Regardless of Coach Dooley's ability to coach,I cannot blame him for taking the job when offered. He is a class act and I wish him the best of luck in the future.VFL
We could make one of three choices if we want.1.Fire Hart and elevate Dooley to AD and hire a new coach.2. Offer Sal a LB coaching position, fire the two secondary coaches than hire a DC and one secondary coach and save a ton of buyout dollars. 3. send everyone packing.
in response to dragon18: I am all in for the second season! My son and I will be going to the game on Saturday screaming our heads off for the Vols and supporting Dooley and the coaches. I am also for giving Dooley one more year if he can win the next 4 games. I remember prior to the season that most everyone was predicting either 8-4 or 7-5. I fell into that category as well. I had picked them to beat Mississippi State, but the rest of the season is pretty much like I had seen it from a won-loss perspective. Nobody could have foreseen such a poor defense. I know that everyone on these pages wants results now! I do too. But the reality is that the program hit rock bottom last year and is on the mend. You guys continue to scream at Dooley and calling for his head but your ire should really be firmly placed with Fulmer (whom I have great admiration for), Kiffin (whom I have NO admiration for) and Hamilton. I beg you guys to just back up and calm down. The team is really working hard and trying to be the team we want them to be. Support them in this second season and let's finish with 4 regular season wins and a bowl game victory. If we can begin to build that momentum, and 2 out of the three come back next year on offense, and we can recruit some speed in the defensive backfield, we will be poised to have a great year next year. Remember, it is so much easier to be a naysayer and to spout negativity. But you guys don't accomplish jack by being that way. If Dooley can't close out the season then he should and will be gone, but your rants on these pages will have little to do with it.

I agree100% and could not have said it better..You,my friend are a winner..
Glad to see another daylignt game.
Well at least I can expect to be home before midnight. If this had been scheduled as a night game I would be looking for someone to raise heck with..
in response to BrassMonkey: Classic case of the UT Athletics marketing department picking an athlete for the face of the program who is slow and overrated. I wish they would just focus on the team instead of putting these individuals under the microscope. Lathers has to be one of UT's most overrated upper classmen since Eric Berry.

This comment shows you are just trying to get attention.. Eric Berry overated.....Wow what a dumb nut you are..But of course you didn't mean this.Herman Lathers has paid the price at UT and is a VFL.You are truly just bull;;;; You can add the word.

The fact is we are being held hostage by TV money.I refused to go to the Akron game last week because of the late start. We live 150 miles away and I am 70 years old. It just makes for a long day and longer night. If the Bama game is a 9:00 p.m. start, those tickets will be for sale unless my wife revolts.

I miss Justin Wilcox. I am not sure exactly what we have in a DC at the present time.
When you live in a rural area 150 miles from Knoxville,it is great to pick up some games om TV.
in response to pomp_and_circumstance: UT is a 20 point underdog, if big UGA is kind. Could be more. The Vols have no defense at all.

This Saturday may just be our time. This is a strange year/ It may be our time to win.GO VOLS
Just be happy if we win!!!!Don't expect a blowout in this one.
If coach Cut takes some of the current staff to Duke with him,we need to make a place for Dale Jones on the staff. He has a large part in the success of the Appalachian State's three national championships. This may be the chance we have been waiting on to get Dale back at UT.
MERRY CHRISTMAS Dane.Thank you for all the many wonderful moments you provided VOL fans..
Are you 100% sure Miles will be at LSU next year?Sabalaman was telling everyone to read his lips last year"Iam not going to Bamalabma" The next day he was leading the parade into Tuskulucera. My money is on Miles heading to Michigan.
Can anyone tell me if the Vol Network has coverage in the Myrtle Beach Area? I plan on being at the beach during the Mississippi State game and need to have some means of listening to the game. I have not missed attending, viewing or listening to the VOLS in 40 years. Thanks
