Wow, I thought men like you were extinct.
A woman is fully capable of covering any and every sport. While you will always find some who aren't educated well enough in the sport they are covering (i.e. sideline commentators), there are many who know exactly of what they speak.
There is nothing wrong with this article. Reaching out to former, high-profile athletes from UT to ask their opinion about UT's new coach is very relevant. That's basic journalism 101. In addition, this article was written by the AP writer for the Nashville area, which means her questioning of Haynesworth is well within her market and even more relevant.
On Manning, Haynesworth take wait-and-see attitude on Kiffin

I think if you actually added up the number of athletes Fulmer coached divided by the number that "ended up in jail,"you'd find them to be in the large minority.
In fact, your comment makes it very clear to me that you've never actually been around the athletes within our football program. Fulmer produced hundreds of quality men, who achieve both on the field and off of it. I think you'd learn a lot if you read the article in the Charlotte Observer about Maurice Staley. That article speaks to Fulmer's character, which should NEVER, EVER be called into question.
He's gone now, people got what they wanted, so why still take pot shots at him?

If stats mean nothing to you, that's fine.
Why don't you look at the young men--they aren't stats--that he has put into the NFL and across this country in various roles. He produced quality athletes, who are praised by their current coaches, and more than that, quality men.
This is an article about his exit. Why can't some of you people let him, and the other coaches, exit in peace? They deserve respect, and I'm guessing that's too much for some Internet, radio-call-in show goofballs.

Thank you for an excellent article.
Why do some people have such a hateful attitude? When it comes to talking about Fulmer, people revert to the maturity of a preschooler. I'm convinced that years from now, the same people will still be complaining.
You've gotten what you wanted—Fulmer is leaving. Grow up and be respectful to a man that gave far more to this university than most people ever will.

It is no wonder the majority of the country views Tennessee fans as a bunch of redneck idiots. You'd think someone hit y'all each in the balls, all because a woman dared speak evil of the basketball coach.

You got what you wanted, so why don't you grow up and treat the man with dignity and respect. Reading comments like this and call-ins to the radio show is like being in a kindergarten class.

I guess it's all in the perspective. When I read his comments, I see nothing but respect and class oozing from them.
You're right, there is no perfect time for this type of thing, but it wasn't fair to the coaches or to the players for it to happen as it did. It could have, and should have, waited until the end of the season.

FYI, idiot--the comment about Murfreesboro was in reply to eduardo who was bothered that he missed the first 7 minutes of the "real" game, hence the men's game, which was in Murfreesboro.
I was at last night's game in Chattanooga and I know exactly what I'm talking about. Learn to follow a thread of comments and read before you pop off.

If the game was that important to you, you could have gotten in your car, driven to Murfreesboro, and watched it.
Since you didn't, obviously--get over it.

I second the earlier sentiment. The people making snide comments about Chavis, his recruiting, and coaching skills, should really try saying those to the face of any one of our former defensive players.
Having spoken to many of them in the past few weeks, I'd say they'd all pop you a new one.
Again, be respectful, people. He's gone now, so why not stop throwing cheap shots at him?
