I wonder if Candace's shoulder brace can be modified into a knee brace? Talk about a good luck token!

Go, Vicki, go! Work that knee! Stretch those thera-bands! Endure that electrostim therapy. (Unpleasant, trust me.) We want to see the shock and sadness on an early season opponent's face when she realizes that you're back 110% and have just pivoted on that knee to juke right by her and put in an easy layup.

Of course he wants his players in summer school! Everybody knows that summer school classes are, by and large, easier due to longer class periods and shorter semesters. Also, with fewer sharp-eyed profs on campus, it's easier to "assist" a fuh-ball player with his "studies." And, come fall, having an NCAA-acceptable GPA already will allow the player more leeway with quitting... I mean, "dropping" the hard classes (or those classes with profs that have refused payoffs from the athletic department) without affecting his overall GPA.

volboy81: "pretty soon ALL D1 coaches will be UT grads!!"

Well, except for Geno... but I'm sure he wishes he had!

Yeah, Need_2_Know, Archie was just one of those great players that just happened to play for a bad team. Of course, back then, there was such a thing as team (city) loyalty; these days, it's jump ship at the first hint of a losing season. It must be something to be adored by five different cities (Oxford, Nawlens, Knoxville, Indianapolis, and NYC--well, most of it anyway: there'll always be a few die-hard Jets fans).

Archie always had a terrific head for the game and an uncanny ability to evaluate the totality of what was going on on the field, a trait his sons have certainly acquired. Peyton and Eli, as I understand, are also voracious film-watchers and prepare for each game like it was a battle campaign, like their dad. (Different thing to watch digital HD video with all the bells and whistles these days as opposed to the 35 or even 8 mm optical film and projector that Archie had.)

Peyton and Eli still insist that Cooper would've been the best QB in the Manning family if he had been able to continue playing.

Afrizzle, by the numbers:

* Attended EVERY NCAA tournament since its inception
* And not just made the tourney, made the Sweet 16, EVERY TIME
* Eighteen of those times in the Final Four
* Eight of those National Champs
* Oh, and there's that more winningest coach thingy.

By the time coach Summit retires (probably sometime in the 2030s, as she just loves coaching so much), UT will have to build a new building to hold all the trophies, awards, and accolades she'll have amassed. Or maybe they'll just add on a wing to the Women's College Basketball Hall of Fame... heck, maybe the Basketball Hall of Fame.

Pearl and Summit, free at last. Could this be some experiment by the UT Medical School to genetically engineer an überbasketballspieler?

Can you just imagine? Geno's mail slot being filled with "Sweet Repeat" DVDs from "gracious" UT fans? lol.

I'm sure someone at the KNS sports desk has a finger in the Host Communications pie, no doubt.

A shame Hefney didn't get a nod. I'm guessing it's because of his size. Maybe he can get a free agent deal somewhere.

On Jets pick Ainge in fifth

Way to go, Jerod! You'll be coming into an already great defense and should have plenty of time to learn their system under some solid, experienced NFL talent.

I was surprised that Cottam didn't go in the first round. All the NFL scouts had such glowing reviews of him. I guess sometimes it comes down to what priority positions the entire league needs. I think Hefney will go early. He's too much of a go-getter to pass up. I can't say I'm surprised that Ainge didn't go in the first two rounds. Even though his numbers are impressive, I think teams are looking at his inconsistency. But, who knows? In the right system, with the right coach, and with adequate time to get his "sea legs," he might end up across the field from Peyton some day.

NFL teams these days are savvy and trade single, higher draft picks for multiple lower picks. You can get some pretty good players that way (Favre, Brady). History has shown that place in the draft and actual NFL performance have a tenuous correlation.
