I would normally be somewhat optimistic after a tough OT loss like that. However, after seeing that Crompton can't seem to hit the broad side of a barn, I am less so after this game. It got so bad that every time he passed it I expected no TN receiver to even be in the area, much less catch the ball. Come on, give Stevens or Coleman a go. They can't be any worse!

Hope he proves me wrong, but that was a horrible performance.

I don't have a good feeling about this game...

Awesome win! To the Gator fan who said we wouldn't root for them: I always root Tennessee first, SEC second. I was glad to see UF win the last 2 tourneys, and I think many TN fans think the same.

Let's not get carried away however. I think some of the posters here are perhaps celebrating a bit too much. UF won the last 2 NCs. We are nowhere near that league yet, even though we have beaten them 5 of last 6! :) Get a final 4, establish some tradition. I think we can do that with BP at the helm. Then we can REALLY talk smack.

Ainge and Hefney - glad to see you both go... couldn't agree more with the posts here. Despite the criticism, the coaches did a great job this game and the latter part of this season. I for one am glad Fulmer will stay.

On Over after turnovers

I was one of the ones calling loudly for Fulmer to be fired after the Alabama game. Now... maybe that would be premature. One of the most uplifting signs is the staff's willingness to change things on special teams after the early struggles. Now special teams are a strength, not a weakness. We have also shown a bit more courage, going for it on 4th down in several key situations and making it. That's not something Fulmer would've done early in the season. If Fulmer is willing to adapt and change, I'm willing to support him and this staff. Stability is important in recruitment also, and at least we don't have to worry about another school snatching him up.

Note the part about keeping it simple. I think this coaching staff overcomplicates things too often. When we simplify the playbook (on both offense and defense) we do well with the good talent we have. They did this in '98 with new QB Tee Martin and look what happened.

On Mayo: 'He's not going to win Heisman in Neyland'

What a great article! No name-calling or disrespect from me, because Fulmer has done a lot for UT and really bleeds orange, but it is time for him to go. Did anybody hear Colin Cowherd yesterday detailing the program he felt was in decline? He prefaced it by saying he picked Miami under Coker and Michican under Carr long before they hit rock bottom, and Tennessee was going the same way under Fulmer. He said "Phil Fulmer has to go", and I think most of us agree.
