"IU-IL heated rivalries with sellout crowds of 12,000" ??? Yeah right, this matchup really wants to get me to spend an afternoon in front of the tube watching these dipweed teams. Kravitz ought venture South more often for anyone of a number of SEC games. He will find enough heat to boil his water in SEC , and SEC coaches do not throw chairs onto the court....plus the fans in SEC are a helluva lot more civil than those I see on tv in "the big 10" ( notice caps here)

Thanks, Tom. These are great articles for us oldtimers. Having experienced the 1954 Clinton Riots first hand(as an incoming HS Frosh ), I can really appreciate this story. I can just see Mayor Luallen telling Chancellor, who he probably described as "one of them foreigners from up north" ,to get his feet off the stage.

Will Coley---if you read this, go to Air Force. Great coaches and academics. You will go out there a boy and leave a "man". Only 1,500 students in the world are selected each year. Do not miss this opportunity. Good luck

Who in the blue hell would want to see Cal, UF , and Bama games again ? This should sell well at VFW's in Tuscaloosa and G' Ville. Doubt there is a VFW in Berkley

Bill Board on I-10 in Monroe, LA. " Tide Rolled " ULM 24 Bama 13 (score may be wrong but it is still a ULM "W" ). All Tide fans ,and maybe Team, will pass by this when headed West to Independence Bowl in Shreveport, LA. Gettin' our laffs while we can.

Tom, Many thanks for your human interest stories about the Volunteer family. They bring back a "Host" of great memories for me out here in Texas. I atended my first game in Shields-Watkins in 1946 with my dad, Chucky Thompson, and I remain in those same section T seats to this day. Dad was a childhood friend of Bronnie Potter (your last article) and Jimmy Walls later. I would also include Dean L. R. Hessler in this storied and distinguished group. Keep them coming.

On second thought, there actually is a sure fire way that Meyer and The Reptiles will make it to Atlanta ( SEC Champ. game). Order tickets now.

Anyone catch Meyer's ( and Gator Team ) obvious dig at Vols and Dawgs ( " The feeling among our Team and players is that if we win ( vs SC), we are going to make it to Atlanta" ) Typical UF attitude--no credit to anyone else, just their always beating themselves. Vols may not make it past Hogs or Cats ( altho I am hoping ) but UGA losing two more times in SEC ?? I dun tink so

There is no excuse for booing NCAA Athletes --period ! I agree with Henig, they are "just ignorant people". MSU does not have a monopoly on these ignorant people. Unfortunately, we have too many at UT ,as well. Get the hint ??

If he really knew how to say the name of his chosen college ,he should have called them "Thee Ohio State University" ,as they arrogantly refer to themselves.
VOLstuckINky---agree with you . SEC refers to them as " Thee 0 & 9 University"
