And I had to listen to the last five minutes and the overtimes sitting in my truck listening to XM. The CBS affiliate here in Gainesville, FL, shifted to the UF/FSU game. I almost threw the XM out of the window about 10 times!
GO VOLS, almost have tickets for Atlanta

One of the reasons that I am all for a playoff for Div 1 football is that teams improve over a season. If we had selected the BCS Championship game after the first couple of weeks, LSU would have been a unanimous choice. Huge wins over MSU and VaTech. Now they are losing to Arkansas 14-6. LSU has not improved over the season. Yes, injuries have their part, just ask California.
Tennessee today is much better then the team that played against Cal and UF. No, I can't explain Alabama. Are they the best team in the nation? Not even close. But the merits of a coach is how they adjust during the game and during the season. Anyone want Charlie Weiss right now?
Fulmer has proven over the years that he can make the changes. My only real complaint is that he is too loyal to those around him, from Randy Sanders to Kelly Washington to the numerous players in the NFL. I want Fulmer at Tennessee for as long as he wants to be here.

To address a few things:
1. Worst loss? Nov 3, 1979 Rutgers 13, UT 7. Key to the game - What's a Rutgers?
2. In the east, an LSU victory over UF means that every one except UF and UGA controls their destiny. UK could actually lose to UF and still control their destiny.
3. If we are going to discuss replacement coaches, what is the criteria? To offer a few:
- Age (younger than 45?)
- Success at Div 1 school.
- Previous Head Coach in college - no risks like Wade Houston, yes that means no Mark Richt.
So, who is out there?
- Bielema (WI)- no chance
- Meyer (UF) - no chance
- Jagodzinski (BC) - ?
- Peterson - already mentioned
- Mendenhall (BYU)
- Rodriquez (WV) - turned down everyone last year
- Kelly (UCinc) - ?
- Schiano (Rut) - already mentioned
- Price (KState) - ?
- Shannon (UM) - no chance
- Graham (Tulsa) - no track record
- Elson (WKU) - runs a wide open offense
After this, we are on to coordinators. What to do!

Having grown up in Franklin and being a UT fan for 40 plus years, I now have the "pleasure" of living in Gainesville, FL. It has been tough the last few years. Thank goodness for basketball (3 of last 4 from UF!). One of the comments on sports talk down here last week was a comparison of coaches that are able to scheme and beat teams that have better talent on paper. Urban has been showing this capability since his days at Utah. Fulmer has never been able to do this. The point they made, to me very accurately, was that Fulmer will almost always win games when he has more talent than the other team. Other than our 10-7 win over Miami a few years ago, when was the last time that we beat a team with better talent? This is my problem with Fulmer.
Last year against Florida, up 17-7, he tries to run the ball on 11 consecutive plays when we had not been able to run the ball all day long. I still believe that if he had continued to throw the ball, we would have won that game.
Against USC, why run Ainge on a QB draw? That is not his strength. Why run a reverse against a Florida team that obviously has lots of team speed. There was no indication that the DE was chasing the play down the line, he played perfect role defense (and he was a true freshman at that).
Is it time for Fulmer to go? I thought bringing Cutcliffe back would really turn things around. I don't know if the program will survive with our current offense when the most successful teams are throwing the ball all over the place.
So, I am not ready to sign up for FireFulmer, but I don't want to see us being a perennial 7-5 or 8-4 team.

Interceptions will kill you. The one on OT was an attempt at a back shoulder throw that everyone is doing now and was the result of a lucky bounce, give it to the defense. The one on the out route was a horrible throw. It was behind the receiver instead of up and out where your guy is the only one that can get it. The first one looked like it was miscommunication or a bad throw, would need to ask someone to tell the difference.
My complaint all year has been on our DB's. Berry's a keeper, potentially a future NFL star. Hefney is okay, hasn't played as well as last year. Otherwise, it is my opinion that we need to make corners a priority in recruiting again this year and get some depth and hopefully another freshman star. We haven't consistently covered anyone all year.
Finally, they need to change the rules next year on overtime penalties. Just like Foster's unsportsmanlike was enforced on the next OT, the personal foul on Berry's facemask should have been enforced on the next OT. I know the rule doesn't allow it now, but it gave UK a free shot at whatever they wanted to do in that situation. Enforce any personal foul on the next OT if applicable.
BUT, we are in the SECCG! Going to Atlanta! and I will be there this year!
On Report card: UT vs Kentucky
