Lets just hope he's not another coach doing time in tanning booths like Richt and Saban

What went wrong? After only allowing four sacks last year, we all expected the offensive line to be good this year, but they have been totally inept. I think McNeil deserves a lot of the blame. Without a line neither the passing or running game can get going. You can fault our highly recruited fast wide receivers for not getting separation, our quarterbacks for not being Division IA calibre, don't think you can fault the tailbacks since the line didn't give them anywhere to run. Think we can fault the new Offensive Coordinator. What a worthless hire that was!

Nick Stephens was never a Division IA quarterback. I think a lot of us thought Crompton would be, but that obviously didn't turn out to be the case. Give BJ a chance. You have to think about the future!

Agree with many of the above comments that Davis is saying what any decent coach would at this point. He owes it to his current team to finish out the season as well as he can and saying anything close to interest in another coaching job at this point would be considered unethical by a lot of people. Plus he wouldn't be helping the contract he'll eventually get.

He wouldn't be a bad hire although I'd like to see us go with someone a little younger. We definitely don't want Peterson (a Scientologist as UT's coach?--Please!) and probably not Leach--he's just too wierd--even his players say that. I like the other names being bounced about--Kelly, Muschamp, Patterson, Brewster (don't know about Kiffin--he was a dynamite recruiter at USC, and I don't really blame the Raiders performance on him--that team was in a downward spiral before he took over--but I still feel like that would be taking a chance) I'm confident we'll wind up with a good coach for next year. But we probably won't know who it will be until at least after the regular season is over (maybe not until after the bowl games--I think a selection will be made before then but there may be a deal [especially if it's Davis] not to announce it until whoever it is's bowl game is over)

What? Peterson is a Scientologist? Nevermind. Go for Muschamp

Look hard at Chris Peterson. He can get young athletes excited like no one else on this list

I'm tired of hearing about how our wide receivers haven't performed this year. They're probably one of the strengths of the team but I'm not sure the've been given a chance. I can't see the whole field on TV. Maybe they have been inept at getting separation but I think our passing game is more the result of our offensive line being pourous and we don't pick up the blitzers and our QBs, bless there hearts since we can't protect them, haven't been able to do much even if they were top IA calibre. On the other side of the ball, why do we keep blitzing into a crowd where our players run into each other as well as the other team intead of picking openings and blitzing from the outside?

On Adams: Reliving history for all the wrong reasons

Posted on November 2 at 1:06 a.m.

We've got plenty of talent on this team (except at center and QB--McNeil wasn't even listening to the coaches when they were trying to talk to him, and he's been totally inept--how arrogant! He's not a Divison IA player anymore than Stephens). Why can't we do more? You have to assume it's coaching and the lax attitude they've allowed the players. Fulmer overall has been good for the program but the attitude of the players that he had ten years ago has steadily fallen off (with his waistline) since then. Give him a great departure but it's time for a change.

BTW, I think Fulmer, the Maryland caoch, and the Kansas coach should have a pie eating contest when the seasons over. Should draw a good TV crowd and they can donate the money to charity. The rest of us will look forward to basketball season

Agree with olozbal's comment above. Yes, a number of major programs have gone through years in slumps, but there's been a problem with attitude that I think first became evident with Kelly Washington and, I forget the other guys name, and it goes on and on from there. I was patient when other people started calling for Fulmer's head three years ago, thinking look at his "body of work" and don't make a decision after just a couple of poor seasons, but enough is enough. And think about it--how can a coach who can't keep his own body in shape hope to inspire young athletes--look at who the successful ones are--Saban, Richt, Carrol, Myer, . . .it's embarrassing to have a coach who's a fat slob. If Hamilton doesn't get rid of him once the season's over, then Hamilton needs to be fired.
