Yo, Tennessee_Banker: I do not think anybody in your line of
work needs to be critical of anyone else nowadays...!

Jimmy Ray Stephens put together an offensive line that
cranked out a couple of 1,000-yard runners, best I recall.

Kevin Steele, Alabama. Great recruiter (number 1 requirement
at UT) and solid football mind. UT roots. SEC track record.
Had enough of Saban. Hire him!

Mike Hamilton lost me 3 weeks ago when he felt the need to
tell the world that he had the money, the power and the
gonads to fire Phil Fulmer whenever he felt like it. That
garbage article did not help Phil Fulmer, the football team
or the university--but it damaged Mike Hamilton a lot more.
It tells me that Mike Hamilton has been overtaken by his
ego (hey, look at me, I hired Bruce Pearl {with help from
Ernie Grunfield, thank you!}). His comment today that he would
announce a new head coach in 3 weeks also speaks volumes
about Mike Hamilton's total lack of class.

This is indeed a sad day for all things Orange. Mike Hamilton
has clearly been out-classed by his peers at Penn State and
Florida State and has guided this proud program to the same dark depths of the win-at-all-costs mercinaries who have recently embarrassed the traditions at Alabama, Nebraska, Arkansas and Michigan. If his decision turns out to be an unwise one, Mr. Hamilton will surely learn, painfully, the
difference between upending a basketball or baseball operation and that of disrupting the flagship football program. He will also learn to appreciate the difference between messing with football at a cow college like, say his beloved Clemson, and that of a proud, hallowed statewide institution.

Dont'a Hightower is an outstanding player and, reportedly a good kid. His recruitment, however, smacks of stories from
Memphis a few years back. Kid says he will visit Vanderbilt,
Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Kid visits Alabama first at
"suggestion" of his H.S. coach. Kid returns from Crimson
Cash visit. H.S. coach huddles with kid's mom. Kid's mom
announces "no more visits for my son--me and my baby going
to Alabama!" Why would the H.S. coach "suggest" that the
kid cancel remainder of visits, especially to the 2 in-state
schools? Why did the Memphis coaches "suggest" the same
to their players a few years back? U-m-m-m!

Higgins obviously hasn't checked out Butch Davis' M.O.
He derides his players into the ground. It worked at U.M.
because he had talent 3-deep and those kids came from pretty
tough circumstances. There wasn't anything he could say to them that they hadn't heard everyday for their entire lives.
Not so in the pros. He virtually ran Tim Couch into re-hab
and basically lost the entire squad. An interview with
Kelly Holcomb about Davis' tactics might put an end to the
Davis talk!
