maybe a better comparison would have been Carl Pickens
He played in the secondary the final 6 or 7 games of his freshman year (1989) and had 1 interception every game he played defense including the Cotton Bowl win vs Arkansas

slovog, my comment to THE_VOL was what does $$$ in a bank account have to do with character or leadership?
Not an attack on Ainge. Personally I feel he is a better than avg college qb, that had a lot of unrealistic fan expectations based on 2004 freshman season (e.g. Florida game).
He never returned to the gunslinger he appeared to be as a freshman. He will not be a big-time QB in the NFL, but may land a backup role.
I grew weary with the poor decisions this year. Throwing the ball out of bounds on 4th down while trailing late at Florida and Bama is not acceptable from a senior QB that has started games for 4 years.
I have no ill will for Ainge, but I cannot say I'm sad to see him go.

The only deep ball Ainge threw last night was intended for Kenny O'Neill, but the pass was well short and was nearly intercepted.
Apparently Ainge is unable to throw the deep ball. This will not impress NFL scouts.
Crompton has 3 TDs of 49 yards plus in 5 total game appearances.

THE_VOL...and your point is?
Ryan Leaf has more money in his bank account than everyone on this board as well.
$$$ does not make a good leader or QB
Ainge did less with more talent/potential during his time at UT than many Vol QBs including but not limited to:
Andy Kelly, Casey Clausen, Daryl Dickey
I am ready for Crompton to take the reigns and lead the team in 2008!

wow...that is impressive.

If Oklahoma beats #1 Missouri in the Big 12 Championship (for the 2nd time this season) there is no way Georgia is ranked ahead of the Sooners
The biggest win UGA had all season was against a 9-3 Florida team. Not sure what all the hype is about with UGA except the hype that Richt created with the endzone celebrations & black jerseys

Evidently the penalty on Foster was assessed in the next OT because it was a dead ball foul that occurred after the play was over.
The facemask on KY occurred during the play.
I agree that the rules need to be adjusted - that facemask was brutal, lucky that Berry wasn't hurt.

WD40, Ainge didn't throw past the line of scrimmage on the grounding penalty and no receiver was within 15 yards
I think the penalty was valid, but it took every KY fan in the stadium booing and an earful from the UK coaches for the ref to throw the flag

The position coaching hires will likely depend on who CPF hires to be the new OC
I know this will create a lot of negativity, but what about bringing back Randy Sanders as QB & WR coach?
He has proven that he is a tremendous position coach based on his time at UT & UK.
On Quarles says he'd be interested in a UT job
