AUSTIN ROGERS and Denarious Moore were effective because Nick Stepkhens had time to develope chemistry with them while working out with the second team. Quinton Hancock and Josh Briscoe would have been equally effective if they had many snaps. That is always the case with a qb switch.

On Adams: QB switch does not change ailing offense

You can say what you want. This time he was right about the OL. They are not playing to expectation.
BTW...how many linemen have we put in the pros in the last 4-5 years? Just wondering.

Are they any good at judging talent? The following was said about this kid in April....
“We moved Daryl Vereen to our second-team safety, and he looked very good out there,” Fulmer said following a two-hour practice at Haslam Field. “It's just an experiment, so we'll see (whether the move is permanent) but he's too good an athlete to be staying over there third- or fourth-team at tailback.”
Scout said...
Blessed with reported 4.38 speed over 40 yards, Vereen attended UT's senior camp in June of 2006 and was so impressive that Fulmer offered him a scholarship

Then yesterday this.... after moving him to LB: "he looks like a very fast linebacker rather than a limited safety."
What is a limited safety??? Is that code for SLOW (footwise or mentally), or can't guard my house with a machine gun?... Certainly not 4.38 speed!!!
Tell us the truth!!!!

Great analysis. Indeed...who works on the mental side of things?
Bill Russell once said "when you consider talents, put confidence in there with all the other skills."

Lest you forget, each year, Kellie get burned by Wes Moore's Chattanooga Lady Mocs (where she was a former assistant coach) in the Southern Conference. Only once have they gotten past them and those same Lady Mocs have a annual loss against Pat's girls. Do you really think WCU can give her a harder game than they.....Kellie or no Kellie?

From ESPN:
Evaluation
Petty is a prospect that may begin to garner more interest as his senior campaign gets under way. He possesses very good size and a strong arm and would be considered a true pocket passer at this point. Works out of the spread and is in the shotgun all the time which does not give us the opportunity to really see his footwork and ability to plant and deliver the ball on time. He shows very good balance and set up off the one-step drop, feet are quick and he generally has a very good idea of where he wants to go with the ball. Ball comes out quickly, he shows very zip and the ability to fit the ball into some tight spots in the short and intermediate passing game. He does not wow you with his arm strength, but he can make throws vertically and outside of the numbers, he just doesn't get many opportunities to do so. This is a Texas Tech-like scheme, dink and dunk for the most part. Throws very well on the move to both sides and is an accurate, technically sound passer with his feet underneath him on a consistent basis. Petty's delivery can be a bit mechanical and over-the-top and gives the appearance that he's pushing the ball a bit. Would like to see him work from under center some in the dropback passing game. Doesn't show much power downfield or have many chances, is more of a timing and rhythm thrower to a particular spot. Overall, Petty is a solid performer that has something about him that you like. He is tough and performs with a high production level. Good prospect.

On QB Petty commits to Vols after impressing coaches at camp

I don't think anyone is doubting the quality of players and the value of understudying. What most people are trying to highlight is "how youth reacts... under pressure".
CP3 had seasoned veterans when she came along. Even with her talent, she needed those vets. How many Jr's and Sr's are on this team? This team will have a nice blend of frosh and sophs with Cait being the elder statesmen.Leadership is Cait's forte. I just hope she doen't start shooting too much like April McD did when she was here.
I trust Angie with the ball more so than Sydney (even though SS showed signs of potential stability). Syndey has never showed a consistent handle or a pg personality. We got an saying..."pressure makes water run uphill".
Does Angie have the personality to say "this is my team" as others have done in the past? She may have to. I know this is a TEAM, but every team has that "one leader".
Vickie may be back, but recent history says at least a full year recovery for knee surgery...so I'm not counting on her yet. I hope I'm wrong.

Experienced people handling the ball wiil be a necessity for such a young team. Pat will always have talent. But if Angie tired last year, Cait's 1 1/2 years off may be an issue (fitness wise and gamewise). If any of the sophs have to handle the ball extensively, it will have a effect we really don't want. Angie is a shooter...period. She can play the whole game, but her forte is gunning. She has to keep a shooter's mentality at all cost.
And too, Pat has never had a team where someone didn't run it.....and
The newbies haven't seen the type of competition a Pat Summitt schedule will bring.

Doesn't sound good. Everybody who's come here injured has sat out a year. Cait can't carry the load alone. Trouble is brewing here.
