“He was very impressed with my highlight tape,” Gordon said.

Will Kiffin be equally impressed watching Maryville High School run over "I'm the future" Gordon and his team?

Okay--he certainly can say the right things that people want to hear. I am going to wait and see if the "walk can back up the talk." I hope it does. Welcome to Tennessee.

Agree! Rare class on the KNS's part.

All of the big boosters love Phil. However some of them realized he should not continue as head football coach. There was (and still is) some hard feeling between big boosters about the Fulmer situation.

But let me reiterate--they all love him and yes, some would like to see him as UT president. The trick is to convince the public and academic faculty he is suited for the job since he has not climbed the academic food chain.

The theory goes the whole Petersen mess with the wife, Bredesen's bashing, and impending 5-year reviewis being played up to open up the position for a new president (Fulmer?)

Sounds like he went through a trial and figured out what is important in life and is now happier for it. There is a lesson for all of us here. Best wishes to him and the his team.

I have said it in previous posts--not being head coach anymore is not necessarily a bad thing. I believe the best is yet to come for him.

I know it is out of place for me to say this but I will: his family has paid a price, now start paying them back.

On Fulmer on the past: early retirement, other offers

Great article. It actually made me feel remorseful about my criticisms of Fulmer. Really. But I think his leaving the team is best for everyone involved. Him too. I really do think he is going on to better things. He just doesn't realize it yet. (or maybe he does)

I have a wild theory. The story that broke this week about Carol Petersen is about starting to lay the groundwork for a new UT president. Witness Bredesen's public dissing about the vet school. This is a similar scheme to the one they (the secret circle) developed to get rid of Gilley and Schumaker.

Who then to replace the current president? My out of the box prediction is Coach Fulmer. Although he didn't climb up the academic food chain, Phil Fulmer possesses the skill set to be the university president. He knows as well as anyone how the University of Tennessee functions--who and what to know and why. He already has the members of the "secret circle" on speed-dial.

My conspiracy theory states that the "secret circle" would like to see Fulmer as university president for the same reasons stated in this well written article.

Gotta go. Some big dudes from the "secret circle" are here and are asking me to go for a walk down by Calhouns in some cement shoes and take a nap with the fishes.

Funny is the right word because I laughed when I read all the ironic statements in the article. Thanks for the link.

I don't care what kind of offense UT runs as long as it is effective and wins games.

and

I don't care if some high school punk with one foot already in the NFL doesn't want to come to UT because of their offensive scheme.

Get some recruits who are interested in playing and winning as a TEAM and let the NFL chips fall where they may.
