Dickey never took me to the promised land. Majors never took me anywhere but close to alcoholism. I will always be grateful to Fulmer for not only taking me to the promised land but conquering it and bringing a piece of it back to East Tennessee. I am sentimental but my mind overrules my heart and I know he had to go. I said after game one, bench Crompton and let Nick get experience for next year but everyone thought there was still a chance for this season. I really don't care what happens in these last games. Depending on who our new head coach and OC is will determine how I feel about the up and coming seasons. I'm still leaning towards firing the lot (see the lack of D against SC) and starting from scratch. Some good points have been made on the board. There are still some dreamers mixed in and a few displaced idiots (Gator, don't y'all have any blogs in FL?)!. We will rise again. I just don't know how long it's going to take. Until then, I'm with TexasVol..."Rocky Top You'll ALWAYS BE Home Sweet Home To Me..."

Signed,

A Knoxville bred Nashvillian.

It's official. We suck. Fire the whole lot. Someone remind me, when does basketball season start?

On Key mistakes lead to another loss for Vols

Posted on October 26 at 7:44 a.m.

I am usually the "Negative Nelly" on the board but I have to take my hat off to the defense. They say offense puts points on the board but defense wins games. The defense rung John Parker's bell and clearly had him rattled early. That wasn't the only bell rung on Bama's offense either. For the first 25 minutes of the game, I was having flashbacks of the days when our combined final score was never over 10 points. For a defense that played 50 minutes out of the 60, it was a moral victory. I'm proud they kept a team who is clearly in the hunt for a National Championship from scoring 50 points. The mistakes and short comings are obvious so I feel no need to point them out. I am a season ticket holder and not a fair weather fan. I weathered worse during the Johnny Majors era. Whether Fulmer stays or goes is irrelevant to me. I'm a Volunteer born and a Volunteer bred and when I die, I'll be a Volunteer dead. Go Vols!!

On Is the battle lost? Fulmer 'working to get it fixed'

Can someone tell me what coach in his right mind would put Crompton AND Foster in when we're pinned at our own 5yd line, knowing Crompton can't hand the ball off without coughing it up and the other's nickname is "Fumblin' Foster"? I said this after the loss at UCLA. Scrap the season and let the #2 and #3 QB's get some valuable playing experience for next year. Wake me when it's basketball season. I am beyond embarrassed. They are going to show that play on every sports channel around the world and it will continue to play over and over in my head until changes are made. WE ARE IN THE CELLAR FOLKS. Anybody else want to try to sell me on "This is how we started out last year"? Vandy is 4-0 and we are 1-3. Hell is surely freezing over.

On Fumble, and another stumble

See David Palmer from Bama. They had more than one play designed when he was put in at QB. Plays that we couldn't stop. Can't we get some film? C'mon Clawson. We're banking on you to jazz up our offense. No more 3 runs up the middle and out, please?!!

Clarification needed. Didn't Gerald play last year? How is he still a freshman? Or they don't consider them a grade up until the fall?

Congrats to a great UT team. Not since the Meeks have I felt such pride. Prayers were answered that Baugh has only a sprain. I am so very proud to be a Tennessee Vol....again. Pat Summit is indeed the Summit of NCAA basketball. We were hungrier and faster and we never let up, even though we made our share of mistakes and to quote the commentator "tried our best to keep Stanford in it". Great teams always play as a team. They had Wiggins. We had the REAL Candace, Nikki, who played her heart out, Shannon, who popped some 3's at crucial times, Auguste and Baugh and last but not least, Lex, the true heartbeat of the team. I miss 'em already. What a great team and a great ending.

Orangeblood you're cute. I wanna party with you some day. Pat would rather have a one armed Parker than a two armed Maya Moore, which she did not say because she's got too much class. But the inuendo was there.

It's nice to see more than 20 posts today. For those of you who are late bloomers to basketball, once it's post season play, unless it is extremely flagrant, you won't get your run of the mill hacking calls or reaching in or over the back calls. Once the post season begins, the refs pretty much let them play. My father was the president of the TSSAA when I was a child and was a ref all of my life. One of the funniest and wisest things I ever heard him say was about football, which he reffed too. He said "They hold every play. How do they decide when to call it"? There are infractions on most plays, illegal pics, screens, 3 sec violations, you name it. Just don't expect the refs to call it. Did anyone hear Pat's interview when she said she'd rather have Candace Parker with one arm than ____________________? Priceless! Go Ladies. I hope Bruce is there again to support them. And lastly... BAAAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA @Maya Moore and Geno. Enjoy the view from your living room.

Candace will be fine. I texted my brother at halftime and told him we need to break out the duct tape! My elbow pops out too. While it IS painful when it happens, I assure you all it looked a lot worse than it felt. Candace LIVES to play not watch. It was her choice to play again in the first half, as well as in the second half. I'm banking on her being raring to go against LSU! The ladies, unlike the men, won't fold though, even with 5 frosh in. GO LADY VOLS!!!
