Unbelievable....not only is this in bad taste but you need to bring Tyler into the picture? Divorce is never easy on anyone and especially the children. Who cares that he goes to Webb? My daughter went to Webb and we are still married. Maybe the KNS would want to do an article on us....somehow I doubt it. Give the Summitt family and the Pearl family their privacy just like you would want!

Are you kidding me? This is news?

Possibly! I guess that it just burns me that the kids really don't deserve this. Being temporarily located in the "Southernmost City" (Key West) in the US tends to make one quite vocal. I am only hoping that CPF schedules Cuba for an exhibition so that we might swim over for a game or perhaps I should just go down to Duval Street and have a cocktail and get of the soap box and calm down, huh!?

I agree with wewhite! While it is my hope that my daughter takes every opportunity and gets the most out of her education ,it is, just that. Going to college, whether participating in football, the band, swimming, the poetry club, or whatever makes a well rounded student is certainly a part of what the college experience is about. I am from Knoxville and can assure any of you "naysayers", that I had a great experience at UTK while many of my co-Knoxvillians did not. I joined a sorority, was a "little sister" for a fraternity, a Vol Timette, and a Volunteer for many service organizations. Basically, I PARTICIPATED! While at UT I worked 20+ hours a week and graduated with a 3.93 GPA. As the head of HR for a major corporation, I can assure you that participation, even if it is supporting your team of choice, is much more impressive to me than a graduate that never participated in anything-even as a spectator! Team work and the ability to follow and support a cause is what we look for. It doesn't matter if you are in a frat, ROTC, or whatever. If you don't believe this, look at what Bruce Pearl and his "team" has done. Don't forget his "visits" to the cafeterias, buying pizza for those not able to get into a game, etc. Tennessee is a tradition that I am so proud to be apart of.
I was very lucky last spring to be the host to CBP and the Big Orange Caravan in Fort Myers, FL. I can assure you that no one on the coaching staff of any of the sports that were represented in SWF wants to "diss" the students.
Again, as someone who has a child currently attending UTK, I want her to make her grades, get a great job, make lots of money so she can support her father and I (yeah right) but to also remember her days at The University of Tennessee for the memories, as well.

That (the Hope Scholarship comment) was a joke.

Sounds fun anyway!!!! I think it would be better Friday night, around midnight, after they all have a chance to get a little liquored up!

Apparently they have a huge excess in the Lottery Scholarship money. At least give those recipients free tickets if they aren't going to lower the GPA. UT will get their money all the same! Gosh, I am willing to buy more Lotto tickets as long as the students aren't screwed. HA!!!!!

This is a very pathetic turn of events. I am the mother of a junior and we will make sure that she has the $90.00 to attend the games, if she wishes, but what about those who can't afford it? As a two time graduate of UT this was an event that I enjoyed and looked forward to. While I realize that there are many alumni who pay hefty prices to make sure that our football facility is one of the finest the team is comprised of students and the University of Tenneesse is for the students. What's next...should we charge the players to play? Is the Red Cross and Knoxville's finest going to pay their fare share as well? And finally, does this put the student in the upper deck so that those who fork over the big bucks get a better view. PATHETIC!!!!
