Some random thoughts-I hope that Stanford can't beat a Pat Summitt coached team twice in the same season.UCON is a hunted team like Tennessee. Tennessee would be better off playing UCON (the enemy you know).Tara Vandervere is a great coach who has many proud accomplishments to her credit. The Lady Vols will need to bring much more energy than in the past several games. I hope Candace Parker is not hurt worse than we are led to believe If I were her,I'd get my shoulder operated on after the Stanford game and try to be ready for overseas leagues by the Winter of '08-'09. She can make more money in Russia than she can here. WNBA money would be beer money to her, Shelden or Anthony. If she wanted to take grad courses while rehabilitating after surgery, she could use that extra year of eligibility. Just don't do anything in the game tomorrow that would jeopardize her future earnings. Candace has proven her guts, mental & physical toughness Women's pro basketball is her oyster-Candace is both the pearl and the diamond all in one.

To: Big Orange Vol-My "soapbox" as you call it supports me and nothing but truth and justice frm the left side-That's the heart, by the way, The Williams Sisters are African Americans and have curves like real women-not stretched out stick figures-Both Venus and Serena have been in Sports Illustrated Swimsuit photo shoots-Funny isn't it that Russian tennis players come to the U.S. to make a living, and Candace will have to go overseas to ply her craft for somewhat serious money- funny strange that is-By the way, when the going gets tough in international athletic competition, America is quick to cry out for help from its' women of color to represent and carry the flag-Literaaly also-Just look at Dawn Staley-Have a Nice Day & Go Lady Vols

To: johnlg00 and others- This country has done a disservice to women ballers of the past: great players such as Cynthia Cooper, Jen Gillom, Katrina Mclain & others languished overseas since there was no WNBA-The potential star power of Candace will only rise to the proportion that she and other players such as Fowles, Charles & Maya Moore can play the game above the rim to attract across gender lines. Candace is a beautiful woman and likely could make Tyra Banks type money if concentrating only on modeling. The female athlete especially the female athlete of color tragically is not embraced like her male counterparts by Anglo America- Dr King would be outraged. To the extent that Candace and others can increase the popularity of women's pro hoops, the brighter the future will be for girls like Britteny Griner-the 6'5" girl from Houston's Nimitz High-It's bad enough these ladies have to play overseas for 6-8 months to make a living-WAKE UP AMERICA-These ladies don't lose their talent at graduation-Don't discard them like old shoes. The fact that proves my point about women of color not getting prime endorsements are the Williams tennis sisters-The big money goes to Maria Sharapova since she's tall, blonde and caucasian-Just what the WTA knows mid and upper income America loves to embrace-Without a viable pro outlet in this country for Candace and others, there is no point to continue the college game-GO LADY VOLS

Farewell to the royal Princess that graced Knoxville for the past 3 years. It's on to other callings for you now. You must not only earn your hoop livelihood, but save the league that Cynthia Cooper spawned some 11 years ago. You have left the college game better for your participation. I trust you will accomplish even greater milestones professionally. Candace, treat life like a buffet. Be the ICON that befits you. You should have graced the cover of Sports Illustrated Swimsuit. You are the only woman beautiful enough to follow Beyonce. Do a music video with JAY Z, Nee YO or 50 cent. Take your talent beyond the boundary of sports to entertainment and the causes that advance humanity. You have the talent, the charisma, and the intelligence to accomplish whatever you wish. God bless you in life, and may life bring you happiness, and the strength to endure any crisis you may encounter.-Like Naughty By Nature should have said-Ya' Down with CP3-Yeah You Know Me-All the Best to You & Shelden-Maybe you can give Pat one more title in parting-Sincerely- Your # 1 fan from Maryland-I was a Comet fan-Now Sparks-All the Way

To all those who criticize Candace for being lazy, check this out. Lest you forget, the women's National Team likely would not have qualified for Bejuing '08 Olympics had it not been for Candace. It must be hard for her to be beat on by triple teams in college. When she plays with the L.A. Sparks that will not happen. Lisa Leslie will see to that. Even the Tennessee-hated Dianna Tarausi says Candace is one of the 3 best players in the world. Those who are too critical of Candace should check themselves at the door and realize that after April of '08 Candace will be gone from Thompson Bolling for good. Even as great as she is, she may not be enough to derail UCON. I'd love to see Candace break Swoopes' record 47 points in an NCAA tournament game just to get her OUT of the recod books

Great to see the fire return to Nicky-Please keep the pilot light burning-Collision course with the Huskies in Tampa down the road-Geno has them playing like programmed Cyborgs-UT must not only match, but exceed in the focus department-Looks like Tennessee, UCON, North Carolina & Maryland in Tampa. WOW! That's like tag team boxing with Ali, Frazier, Foreman, & Norton-Candace, UT-BO MAl YE

On Hornbuckle's grandmother dies; senior will rejoin team later

Posted on December 27 at 7:24 p.m.

TO ATLVOLFAN: It was sad to see how Chamique's Grandmother's death affected her. The league is a business and will be run as such. However, I live in Maryland, next to D.C.. According to the local newspapers, there were teammates and others who wanted and offered to reach out and try to help her deal with and cope with the loss. However she became withdrawn and did not return calls from the team Then she got a fresh start in L.A. and more problems arose, I think with her biological father (not sure) I think it's good she's enjoying some overseas success. Before she tries to lead and instruct young ladies, I'd like to be more sure she has her own house in order. Remember, the Mystics hired Pat as an executive consultant. I think that was more for Chamique's benefit.-The set up in L.A.was a cake walk-Leslie, Mabika, Johnson, she couldn't ask for much more-Take Care-rdberry
