Totally disagree! Those black jerseys looked awesome! I only wish UT did the helmet to match that night, as it was Halloween. The Vols unis have been so boring over the years, and it's time they got with the times and broke out special jerseys for big games. Teams with bigger football traditions have.

My wife and I are an interracial couple and we have a 2-year-old son. We've never experienced moments like you and Ciera and her mom encountered, but we are very aware that people stare and do wonder. People assume because you are an interracial couple that your children have different mothers or fathers. There are always going to be people who obviously haven't been educated about tolerance.

HL is a great player and a heck of a person. When I see Bray, I see Jeff George, million dollar talent $.25 brain. It kills me to see a guy who has more talent than any other QB in the draft throw it away because of immaturity, laziness and bad attitude.

He brought it on himself. If he carried himself as a QB and leader, and worked harder at his craft, he would have been a first-round lock. Sad, sad waste of talent. He knows if he doesn't make it with the Chiefs, he should start getting sized for his Burger King uniform.

...which is why teams avoided him like the plague. Hope this has humbled him and will make him realize that he's with the big boys now and they're not gonna put up with his college party boy garbage.
in response to chattabluetick: No reason for Bray to have returned with all rec eivers gone and a new offense to learn. All that would accomplish for him would be more film of him in more beatdowns by the best teams on our schedule again. At Oregon, at Florida, at Alabama, and roll the dice home games against Georgia and South Carolina. I don't think we needed him holding up the progress of the Vols for another year. He was at the helm for three years and Da'Rick was here two years and apparently they didn't take the opportunity given them seriously. Too many people who would give anything to have the chance that each got. No telling how many million dollars the two of them let get away. With Peyton down every year and always hearing how hard he works and how much he studies never rang a bell with Bray. These two players will be examples in the future of what not to do. Free agency may afford each one more chance to play. After that welcome to the real world you could have avoided, 8 to 5 baby!

Well said! I hope they both learned a valuable lesson this weekend. They both have a lot to prove in their respective mini camps and training camps. If they don't make the team, they may be done.
in response to Colliervol: For blame, all Bray has to do is look in the mirror. Heck, if Peyton had thought it worth it, I'm pretty sure he could have made a call to Bronco mgmt and gotten them to spend that 7th round pick on Bray instead of Zac Dysart. Obviously he didn't. Maybe he'll get them to look at him as a free agent but I doubt it.

When I saw the last part of the seventh round, I thought for a second that the Broncos would take him. That couldn't have been a better situation for Bray, as Peyton could have taken him under his wing and taught him how to read defenses and how to be a professional. Hope the folks in KC will be good for him.
Good! Because I was going to say he needs to go through the process of coming back for his senior year and helping UT contend for the SEC title and get to the Big Dance.

Uh dude, why don't you take your ten-cent butt off this site and go play more XBox in your mother's basement? They haven't even coached one game yet and you're already calling them losers? You must know the coaches really well to make that assessment. We know they're going to struggle the first season, and we don't need d---heads like you on these message boards to say that.
I'm not a fan of Geno as a person, but I have to admit that his teams are well-coached, focused and come ready to play all the time. They play incredible defense and are always around the ball. Sometimes the Lady Vols get too timid and don't hustle as much as past teams did, and they don't play consistent defense.
On that note, I think it's time the Lady Vols and UConn started playing again. I hear stuff about Pat discontinuing the series because of the recruitment of Maya Moore, but it's in the past now. If the Lady Vols want to get their mantle back on top of women's basketball, they should bury the hatchet and mix it up with Geno and UConn again. It's the greatest rivalry in women's basketball, and they need to get it going again for the fans and everyone involved.

They should both talk to Hopson and ask how the decision to leave early is working out for him. The only things he can tell them are where the best places to eat and where the cutest women hang out in Turkey.
They're both on crack if they think they're ready for the NBA. They need to wake up from their fantasies and work on their games to help get the Vols into the Dance next year, and maybe contend for an SEC championship.

Uh, I believe he does know what he is talking about. The Lady Vols played horrible. This was a very winnable game and they just let Louisville beat them like they stole something. Whether you like or hate Adams, he is not paid to be a cheerleader — he is paid to give his opinions and thoughts. Sometimes he's right and sometimes he's harsh. He's just keeping it real.

What the samhill are you talking about? UT did not "trash" Pat. She left on her own terms and would never have allowed herself to be forced out. She has enough stroke to have left on her own terms. If it were true Hart tried to push her out, he would be out before her.
I would hope the Lady Vols don't get too confident. Louisville really punked up Griner and trash-talked her, so they have some swagger right now. The Lady Vols better be ready.
I called this after finding out the Vols didn't make the Big Dance. I knew it would be a sparse crowd, and I had a gut feeling the Vols wouldn't be up for this game after being snubbed by the NCAA. It looks like the selection committee knew what it was doing after all.

Exactly. They didn't have to accept the bid if they didn't want to be there.
I know they have difficult jobs, but that salary is way too much. Some CEO, lawyers and doctors have much, much harder jobs and some don't even make $100,000 a year.

Oops, almost forgot, Chaney making $550,000 a year at Arkansas, and $50,000 a month from UT on top of that? He's got to be giddy right now. I think I may have to get into this assistant coach thing, because their salaries are equivalent of CEOs and high-powered lawyers.

Remember, it was Mike Hamilton who was stupid enough to give Dooley that big buyout. Hamilton is the reason UT is in terrible financial shape, because he wasn't thinking. On that note, I still don't get how you can resign from your job and get a buyout. I thought when you quit a job you get nothing.

Pretty optimistic, aren't you? Coach Jones hasn't coached a game yet for the Vols, and you're jumping to conclusions. Jones needs to get a pass this season, because the schedule is brutal and he is breaking in a new QB, new WRs and a defense is adjusting to a new system after sucking badly last season. Your predicted record may come into fruition, but let's see how they do the first month of the season before coming to that assessment. Dooley needed time, but that team wasn't getting any better, and Jones needs time to get his guys in.
Nick Saban is speaking in Athens for about an hour at the Athens Chamber of Commerce. Big freakin' deal! Why is everyone in a tizzy about it? He speaks, then he leaves. I don't think he's here to recruit. He already has all the five-star players he wants, plus there's better talent in the surrounding states.
He was a fantastic kick returner, and should have been a better player than what he was. I agree with the post that whoever was advising him to go pro needs to be shot. They didn't care about him, they just wanted to get their piece of the pie. Hope he can learn from this and get his life straightened out.

I couldn't have said that better myself! A poster just joked that Lane Kiffin will get fired from USC after next season and Jerry will hire him as head coach to team with his dad once again. Sadly enough, I wouldn't put it past Jerry to do that.

No, it doesn't. UT still has to pay him, even with a new job.
Tuesday was disappointing because that was a very winnable game against a Kentucky team that is one of Cal's worst since he's been there. They don't have much chemistry like last year's team did. Cuonzo better get these guys playing, or Hart may start sniffing around early. I like Cuonzo a lot, but this is inexcusable.
I guess it's official, although everyone has known for weeks that Bray, Hunter and Patterson were gone. Sentimore, I didn't know much about him, but not a big loss.

Why? Because he tells the truth about how bad UT football has been, and he just gives his opinion? You don't have to agree with it, that's what he gets paid to do.
Congratulations John! What a great honor. I know there are haters on here who don't like you because you keep it real about the struggles of UT football and you don't kiss their or their favorite team's butts, but just ignore them and keep doing what you do.

Gruden was a pipe dream, Eduardo. Strong probably was on the verge of taking the job, but I think loyalty won out, and you can't fault him for that. I do agree that I shake my head knowing we could have had Kelly or Sumlin. Mike Hamilton pooped the bed on his football hires, and the program will be paying for it with fewer wins and little money for a while. I like Jones, but he WILL need time and should get a pass this coming season.
This UK team is nowhere near as good as last year. Last year's team was special because Davis was a beast and no one cared who scored most of the points. The chemistry was phenomenal. So far, this team will be lucky to make the Dance as a five or six seed.
Sorry if the truth hurts, Vol Nation. With Bray, Patterson, Hunter and others gone, Jones should get a pass his first year. Neither of those QBs are going to light the world on fire. Worley has played sparingly, and Peterman has yet to take a snap. The RBs aren't as good as their press clippings say, we will have some inexperienced WRs, and who knows what the defense will look like? I want to remain optimistic that Jones can get it done, but this is probably going to be a bigger challenge than Dooley's first year. Especially with that schedule. Vol Nation better be patient, because although Jones brings good credentials to the table, 2013 may be another long year.
Adams gets paid to give his opinion. People get mad because he is supposed to have the "Everyone gets a trophy" attitude when the Vols look bad in losses. He tells it like it is, and if you can't deal with it, too bad. I guess the truth hurts for some people.
Oh quit being such fuddy-duddys folks, this was Christmas Day humor. I loved the David Stern references, but I wouldn't put it past him to do stuff like that for real. Like he fines the Heat for not playing LeBron, D-Wade and Bosh the whole fourth quarter when they are blowing out the Clippers in a nationally-televised game.

Even splitting, say, UGA and UF, it's a 10-win season. In that regard, Dooley has a strong case for the woulda-coulda-shoulda blues.

Agreed. Dooley signed his own death warrant by hiring Sal Sunseri to run the 3-4 instead of just promoting Lance Thompson to defensive coordinator and keeping things as is. I guarantee Dooley wins at least three, maybe four more games if the defense could stop someone, and he would still have a job.
I don't think anyone should be surprised by this. I think it was pretty obvious he was leaving, and Bray and Patterson will likely follow him. When you have a child to support, who can blame him. Besides, I don't think there was much more to accomplish here anyway. He was a fantastic player for the Vols, and it was too bad that his 2011 season was wiped out with injury. Hope he goes to a decent team that will utilize him. Best of luck on Sundays, Justin!

Uh, Meachem is hardly a nobody! He was one of Drew Brees' top targets with the Saints for many years. He's with San Diego now, not sure how he's doing. Regardless, he's had a great NFL career.
I'm disappointed he turned UT down, but he has to do what is best for him and his family. Maybe his wife wanted to stay in L.A. so she can try to pursue her singing career, but she could easily do that in Nashville or Atlanta nearby. He has had opportunities before to come back here, but it didn't work out. Don't close the door on it, folks. Maybe he will one day. Godspeed, Tee!
Please Tee, come back! The Vols need you! Don't let your wife wear the pants on this one. It's never been a better situation.
