Over the years I enjoyed going to the early practices and watching coaching at its best. The head coach and the assistant coaches see everything. One expectation is that the volunteer managers - manage each minute of practice, each drill, each record on foul shots made. I once saw the head coach "ensure a volunteer manager that her position required an increased level of performance." A former freshman-who graduated last year and went to Detroit and a teammate who later transferred to Maryland were asked by coach on the first day of open practice why they were talking to each other when she was instructing. Both are added to illustrate the organization of practice and the expectations of the staff.
Wonder what will be the early emphasis - offense or defense

How many years have we watched and heard about the growing and developing in November and December, the assessment in early January on the teams potential and the expectation that those who are contributing in March are expected to be upperclassmen? Again we have heard the requirement, not always met, to play 40 minutes. I feel comfortable in predicting that the team will play 40 minutes, because if the coaching staff doesn't get the necessary effort from a young player, she will be replaced. And for sure the players will understand that as they develop and compete.

To respond to Johnigoo = perhaps, just perhaps the signals coming from Bone are that she is not highly considering Tennessee. Perhaps, just perhaps in telephone calls or visits the coaches from TN asked the question such that they realized the need to move on. Of course that is just perhaps because everyone wants tall and talented. And of course everyone wants fast and tall, and of course everyone wants good shooters who are also athletic, and of course nearly every great player would like to believe they are good enough to be offered a scholarship with TN.

Help me understand the math. According to Johnson by the time the players complete their sophomore year (2 years) they will be 40% complete of their 4 year degree. 4 divided by 2 has always been .5 or 50% and they are also taking summer classes.

Bluetick comment made in jest indicates he probably won't see a premier TN athlete perform on our track, nor will he have any memories when she or several others who before her, male and female, have become become best in the world. Tn is indeed fortunate to be able to attract world-class athletes in so many men and women's sports. And no she won't play defensive tackle or be forgotten on some 75 member squad.

For many who weren't around then she was a "very big" recruit for the Lvols and from far away - Michigan. Great from the day she arrived, overcame the dreaded knee injury. And I'm pleased she has a chance to grow her career in the college ranks.

To continue the comics. The writer of the article added the two schools as "humor" knowing that those of you reading Garfield would bounce. So he is reading and laughing as many of you have taken the bait.
Thats why this time is called the "silly season."

Those of us who live outside of Knoxville enjoy the opportunity to read about our Lady Vols. Sifting through the "children-posters" is a part of the process.
Playing for the Lady Vols is a priviledge and playing time is earned. It is moot to spend time on who will start because with the talent and the youth lots of rotations are possible. However count on rebounding and defense being stressed.

I remember the recruitment story about her dribbling while on skates over rough pavement. Interesting decision by Arizona to go with a associate head coach even a well qualified person we know

The positive response is that "everyone" now recognizes that Lady Vols basketball is important to the University of Tennessee, its students and its fans. For all too many years that was not the case. All the negative responses about the team, their coach and more striking the unimportance of women's sports in general have been replaced with hungry, interested and kmowledgeable fans, not only in Knoxville, or Tennessee but throughout the nation.
