Well, well, seems my prior post of the silent shortstop off the bench paid big dividens to the vols. Anyone listening would agree that every ball hit in Grishams direction resulted in a put out. Made the routine and the hard play. Sure, the pitcher got the credit for getting out of the tough bottom of the ninth with no outs and bases loaded, but if I remember the double play began with short playing up. 6 to 2 to 3. A homerun and a two for 5 outing at the plate was a bonus as well. I'll take it anyday. Great job Vols!

On Tennessee baseball outlasts Arkansas

Pssst. Coach Raleigh you can't win big games when the same player keeps making costly mistakes. Seems you got a guy on your bench sorta like UA's Cisterna who's average doesn't impress alot of people and but can keep more runs off the board than he allows. If memory serves me correct, he was just beginning to move his own average up when he was given the opportunity of more at bats. Thought you had seen the light on your SS positon but for whatever reason, something keeps clouding your sight.

On Lima eclipses clutch homer with decisive mistakes

CTR can take alot of the blame for this loss as he chose to stay with Lima instead of inserting his best defensive infielder into the game as he has elected to do in previous games. The games the team has won and when errors aren't commited, Grisham is in the line up. He might raise his own hitting average if he was given the same opportunites he given others to do so and we'd be getting the best glove in the field as well. Routine plays aren't routine if you aren't sutiable to play the position to begin with. Also can't figure out why he chose not to play Polk.

On Hernandez' masterful pitching goes for naught

Well Hello boys...it appears by some of your post that you've genuinely missed me. Well since I have been busy with my full time job, coaching this time of year in Arizonia I have been rather busy. Now let's get to business. I don't think I have found once where I have dished this team, only questioned the coaches thinking in playing or not playing players that he seems to win with. When some are in the game we rack up error after error. When others play, the errors seem to vanish. Anyway great to be back for a few days of R&R with you before I head on up to my regular job in the big show.

On Five errors don't cost Vols, 7-6

Tigervol9802 apparently you don't read well or so wrappped up in dishing off that your pea brain doesn't think clearly. Go back to my original post where I said No Polk, no Grisham, no Forsyte. Think I said something about errors and make little things happen that don't appear on stats. If you were there, as I also mentioned or in this case can read, see what Grisham did to make the game differance. No errors, started the 5th inning rally with fantastic at bat, scored and made difficult play after play after play. When I spoke of errors, where do you think I was talking about. Duh, they weren't in left where Polk would have been, or behind the plate, duh: the six spot perhaps. Learn the game and what It takes to play it and you might qualify yourself to speak. Great game...Go Vols.

On Vols fight off LSU to start SEC

Greevol22 and tigervol9802 what I witness has nothing to do with cooking nor shrines. I dare say either of you have paid to go to a UT baseball game in your life. You have to be there to understand. If you aren't going to do that then use a few click of your mouse and go to the UT baseball site and see the stats yourself. They speak for themselves. All I am saying is that you DO NOT two days away from SEC start sending mixed signals to your teams as to who your starters will be. After all, they too are human.

On Raleigh: Vols learning to fight for victories

I show up for the game and once again was amazed to see that Raleigh had once again attempted to out think himself and once again change a lineup that gave him error free ball and a chance to win. No Polk, no Grisham and no Forsyte. These guys contribute in ways not seen on the stat sheets. What did we get, more errors and another barn burner of catch up. The day left most of us regulars scratching our heads as I am sure it did the team as they wonder, who will be playing when the big show begins this weekend. If he stays hell bent on what he has tried lately, it's going to be a long season.

On Raleigh: Vols learning to fight for victories

Great to watch two games for one today but I am begining to be as confussed as I am sure the players are. I like the fact that Coach Raleigh has set down the so called Franchise players such as Lockwood, Gomes and Lima. From the games and their stats I agree with him and felt that after the Houston fiasco he had set his mind to change for the betterment of the team. I read where he stated that Forsyte and Grisham were playing better and have taken the starters role. Even read in the game program that Grisham had recently earned the starting role at Short. I am sure that pulling him after the defensive plays I've witnessed the past few days and his nifty baserunning, leaves him scratching his head in wonder as it does most of us watching from the stands. Forsyte is the best defensive catcher and like Grisham is hitting no worse than Gomes or Lima. Starting SEC play this week I am sure the whole team is in wonder of who's, what's, where's,when.

On Harris becomes eligible, gives Vols boost in debut

What is so hard to understand that the All Americans have not produced with some 20 plus at bats. Lockwood & Gomes have combinded at bats of nearly 40 and have 3 hits combined. The Freshman guys totals are much, much more productive and getting the job done. So far as Lima, he's about .187 with 4 hits and 20 plus at bats and continues to make errors both recorded and mental. The Grisham kid is much better fundamentaly and puts the ball in play at every at bat. You wanna win, play your best producers and fielders to keep the errors down.

On UT freshman ignores injuries, goes 3-for-3 to lead Vols, 6-2

Posted on February 25 at 8:45 p.m.

Loved what he says but my observation of the games is that he should have set 3/4 of the team for lack of showing up. I saw all three weekend games and his middle infield lacks, Saw a kid playing short during infield and can guarantee he's the best they got. Didn't play him a lick. Seems going 1-5 and mental laps resulting in errors dont deem the time out chair.

On Raleigh dictates to Vols: Play hard or sit
