That is the smartest thing I have heard anyone say on this board yet!! When we took him over the guy that went out to USC that was about when a lot of our problems started. I hope when they reported the other day that the support staff would stay intact they were not talking about Long.

Petersen was named as the head coach at Boise State on December 16, 2005, succeeding Dan Hawkins, who left for Colorado. Sophomore tailback Ian Johnson said about the transition, "We trusted him and knew he was going to take care of us. We knew he was a great person. He was going to recruit people just like himself. We waited for him to get everybody here and he got in the perfect people." [1] Petersen had served as offensive coordinator at Boise State from 2001-2005 and was twice nominated for the Broyles Award, given to the nation's best assistant coach. Rumors from Peterson's agent have emerged that the coach will be accepting the University of Tennessee head coaching position after Phillip Fulmer announced he'll be stepping down at the end of the season.

Your are right Houston Nutt is a terrible coach. Just look at what he has done at Ole Miss. They went from last place in the west and only about 6 wins in three years to a 5-4 record with all losses being less then 7 points. Sounds like a real loser to me.

I do not understand all the love for Muschamp. His defense is not that great at Texas. I also remember another former Auburn coordinator leaving and going to Texas having a great year winning a championship then becoming the head coach at Iowa State. Gene Chizik has not had a winning season in three years there and they do not seem to be getting any better. We need a proven head coach anything less and we will be on the Alabama carosel.

Another great player from West Tennessee!! I read all the crap on here about recruiting and how Tennesse does not have good instate recruits. I am orginally from West Tennessee and there has been a ton of athletes that have been there from West Tennessee. I think they are not looking as closely there as they used too. Guys like Chad Clifton,Al Wilson,Will Offenhusle,Justin Harrell,Ernst Fields,George Kidd, & Cedrick Wilson to name a few. These guys gave there all for Tennessee!!!

Reports from various and quite reliable sources indicate that the apparatus is already in place to first seek and then hire a replacement for the embattled Fulmer. We are hearing that the people who are leading this endeavor already have targeted a coach and may have even already spoken with his agent. Since this coach is actively heading up a football team right now, we don’t expect any public pronouncements within the next few weeks.

I thought I would never see the day when tickets for an Alabama Tennessee game would still be on sell by the school 2 days before the game. I hear the winds of change.

Good point but say what you want but when Phil took over the program it was ripe and full of talent. I am not so sure the next guy is going to have it so easy. The SEC was not as tough from top to bottom as it is now.

I see a lot of people throwing the names of high profile coordinators out there. But do we really want a guy with no head coaching experience running our program.

I know I am going to catch heat for this comment but here goes. I know Crompton looked very bad this year but he was a top rated recruit out of high school. He also looked good against LSU a couple years ago. With better coaching he might become and game managing quarterback.
